    Colorado Buffs Game Summaries

    Bowl Game

Colorado plays a stout defense in the first half but couldn't finish off drives. They take the halftime lead 9-0.

Michigan kicks off at half time, COL fields the kick and the returner gets drilled and coughs it up and MI takes it in for 6. Largely deflating for a defense that held Michigan scoreless and 21 yards of offense.

9-7 Colorado. 5:53 left in the 3rdQ. Colorado proceeds on the ensuing drive to go the length of the field, and get down to the MI goalline.

They run a quick toss play and it seems like the HB has a seam, he hits it quickly and proceeds to cough up the football inside the 1 yd line! The ball bounces into the endzone and bodies pile on it. Colorado came up with it, TOUCHDOWN!

After that point the Colorado defense just takes over.

Michigan was without their starting QB Robinson, and their backup just seemed to be slow to make decisions. In the second half Colorado noticed this and brought the blitz from all over the field, scoring on an amazing 8 sacks in total that came from all over the field:

    Linemen - 3
    LBs - 2
    CBs and Safeties - 3

    Col 23, Mich 7
A great start for the new coach.

0-2 Colorado matches up against #12 Cal

The game started off with two strong defenses on the field. Cal was blitzing heavily and bottling up the Colorado rushing attack, meanwhile Colorado played a bend but dont break defense.
    End of 1st Q: Cal 6 - Col 0

The second quarter had Cal hit another FG to go up 9-0 with less than 2mins to go in the half, Colorado turned to an aggressive passing attack that earned them a quick touchdown. In fact too quick as Cal had enough time to pick up another TD of their own.
    Halftime: Cal 13 - Col 10

The second half would see a complete momentum shift. Colorado took the ensuing series and drove the length of the field in under a minute to take their first lead of the game. On the ensuing series Cal throws a pick6. Colorado never looked back, reeling off 28 straight and unanswered points before Cal gets on the board again in garbage time.

Colorado earns its first victory of the year, easily upsetting #12 Cal by the count of 38-19.

Coach was away and sick for a few days so we skip ahead to when he gets back --

Colorado benefited from an efficient and balanced offensive attack (181 rushing and 210 passing yards) as well as an opportunistic defense that managed to force two turnovers.

This one wasn't close at all. Colorado was up 42-10 before Kansas reeled off two quick touchdowns in garbage time to make the final score 42-24.

RB Scott earned his 4th player of the game honors this year (177yds, 2TDs) as the buffaloes improve to 4-3.

Colorado wins a rain soaked thriller!
    COL - 28, TTU - 21
    Classic Score: 729

In the first quarter of the game, Colorado loses its star RB Scott and main offensive weapon for 10 weeks... leaving them to rely on third string RB and true freshman Nelson. Colorado immediately found itself in a rut.

After two lost fumbles in the redzone by true freshman RB Nelson, Colorado found itself down 21-7 beginning the 4th quarter. SR QB Hansen then stepped up and began laying out bombs, he finished 18-33 for 344 yards and 2TDs despite 6 drops by his receivers.

Colorado managed to tie the game up and force a TTU punt which pinned the Buffs inside the TTU 5 yard line with 1 minute to go. Colorado decided to spread it out with 4 wide while the Red Raiders brought the heat. Sophmore WR Conte was left uncovered and set a new longest pass record with an 87 yard reception as he was chased down by a cornerback just inside the 5 yard line.

Then came redemption for Buffs freshman Nelson as he punched it in and gave the Buffs the win.

    Week 11

CU defense dominates Iowa State. CU wins 44-20 as ISU puts 14 on the board against the 2nd team defense in garbage time.

Player of the game: WR Moten with 4receptions for 127 yds and 3 TDs. His day could have been much better as he had 4 drops on plays that had a potential to be biggainers as well as some other catchable balls.

Colorado, after getting a rocky start to the season (1-3) is now 7-3 including 6-1 in conference play. Colorado will have an out of conference game next week (against #2 Georgia Tech) and then travel to #1 Nebraska for the season finale.

Nebraska is riding an impressive 33 game winning streak, if CU manages an upset then they will earn their way to the conference championship game.

Georgia Tech crumbles at home 24-20 to Colorado
    [IMG]

Georgia Tech was ranked #2 last week, but dropped lost to UVA. The met up with unranked Colorado as the #9 ranked team.

Colorado had no problems moving the football, gaining 188 yards in a punishing rushing attack and 248 yards passing in what was a very timely and aggressive passing attack. Colorado was having trouble dropping some easy balls in games past, but QB Hansen came to play and had a good game, he ended the day 14 of 17 for 248 yards with 0TDs and 1Int.

Despite moving the ball down the field well against GT, CU had 3 critical turnovers that kept the game very close. The defense came up very big forcing 6 punts and limiting the GT fleXbox One running attack to 106 yards rushing on 31 carries.

Player of the game goes to:
    True Freshman Isaac Nelson
    149yds rushing on 37 attempts and 3TDs
