Vontae Davis saves the day in Jacksonville
It was dubbed "The Brawl For It All". A week 17 matchup between the 11-4 Colts riding a 7 game winning streak and the 10-5 Jaguars for the AFC South Title. Possibly the hottest team in the league, the Colts have been on a tear since a loss to the Jets in week 8. The Jaguars came into this game on shaky ground as they were 2-3 in their last 5 games but they had two things working for them; 1) they were playing at home and 2) they were 5-0 in the division. One thing is for sure to happen when these two teams meet up, it is destined to be a defensive battle, with the Colts coming in #1 in points scored and ranking in the top 4 in all major defensive categories. The Jaguars with a stingy defense themselves, come in at #5 in points allowed. Onto the game...

As expected this game was a defensive battle all the way. Neither team would be able to consistently put together a drive on offense. The Jags would get on the board first with a 47 yard field goal in the first to take a 3-0 lead. The Colts would be the next to get on the board when Andrew Luck would find TY Hilton in the back of the endzone for a 9 yard score, taking the lead 7-0. After forcing a punt from the Jaguars the Colts would also be forced to punt but would pin the Jags on the 1 yard line thanks to a great save by Trumaine Brock. The Colts figured they had the Jags right where they wanted them and were looking to add a safety but the Jags on other plans. On the first play, QB Ryan Irwin would QB sneak for about 6 yards and would get injured. At this point the Colts were figuring the next play would surely be a run but to their surprise Irwin came back on the next play! Not knowing this the Colts called for an all out blitz and left CB Jonte Green on an island with speedster Devin Hester who would torch him for a 69 yard gain after which Green was lucky to trip him up. However, on the next play, Bryant Pinnacle would take the handoff 31 yards for the score and the Jags took a 10-3 lead, scoring from 99 yards in 3 plays. The teams would trade punts again and right before half TY Hilton would take a Jags punt about 20 yards putting the Colts in scoring position at about the 30 right before half. For reasons I still don't know, the Colts decided to come out and pass and it would be picked off by Justin Rogers as the Jags went into the half ahead 10-7.

The second half was all defense. From turnovers to defensive stops, neither team managed to muster anything on offense. The lone score would come on a busted play in which Luck was supposed to hand it off to Bernard Pierce but the 2 ran into each other and Luck kept the ball and scampered off tackle for about a 9 yard score. Other than that, the half was a pretty quiet one. The Colts would have the ball late in the 4th with a chance to run the clock out but were unable to get the one 1st down they needed thanks to great defense by the Jags. The Jags would get the ball with around a minute left(I think) and would convert a couple first downs. But with the ball at the 50and the clock ticking with no timeouts, the Jags decided to go for it all on a deep pass to Hester. Luckily for the Colts, Hester was matched up with star CB Vontae Davis on this play and Davis would pick the ball off in the endzone dashing the hopes of the Jaguars. Luck would kneel it out and the Colts would win 14-10 and wrap up the AFC South and #2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

    Game Notes
The Colts have a huge task ahead of them in the playoffs as they would lose their top 2 targets for an extended period. TE Coby Fleener is out for the entire playoffs and WR Denarius Moore will miss 3 weeks and should return for the AFC Title game should the Colts make it that far.

Great game CHUNKNESS! Felt like a playoff game! GL in the playoffs
