In recent weeks head coach James Music of the Colts has been making statements about his defense, as being soft and undisciplined. He knows they have the personnel to be one of the better defenses in the league but as of late they haven't shown it. Ranking in the bottom half of the league in total defense, the Colts would cruise into Jacksonville looking to clean things up.
Out of the gate, the Jaguars came firing as they would stiffle the Colts defense. Jags started off there first drive moving the ball well through the air and ground. MJD had a solid day rushing for over 100yds and he would help that drive posess a score. Gabbert would roll out right and hit Laurant Robinson in the corner of the endzone for there first score. They would stuff the Colts on there next posession, stopping them on the goaline to turn the ball over. Jags would keep the fire going as they drove 99yds for another score. Capping it off with a pass to Ginn to put the Jags up 14-0 at the end of the 1st qtr.
Clearly the Colts defense didnt get the memo early as the Jags just pounced all over them. But when you have a high powered offense like the Colts, its not hard to get fired up. The Colts would finally hit the endzone...on a 3rd and short, Luck read the coverage and hit Bibb down the sideline for a 41yd pass to trim the lead. Next Jags posession resulted in a punt as the Colts D started to click. Colts fired back as they drove down the field and would cap off a 13yd TD pass from Luck to Fleener to tie things up. Colts would tack on a fg to go up 17-14 in the late 2nd and with 30 seconds left the Jags tried to push for another score. Gabbert dropped back and saw pressure as he forced a throw and LB Woodyard picked it off for the score. Suddenly 24 unanswered points later the Colts are up by 10 going into the half 24-14.
Opening the 2nd half the Colts recieved the ball. The first play from scrimmage, the Jags sent a little too many on the blitz and Delone Carter bolted up the gut for 80yds to pile it on. From this point the Colts would be in Gabberts face for the rest of the day forcing 3 interceptions and 5 sacks. Clearly the Colts had adjusted but they need to become consistant early. With this win the Colts are now 5-0 and head to Cincy next week in a Sunday night football showdown.
