BUCKEYES SEASON COMES FULL CIRCLE IN B1G TITLE LOSS

As halftime neared during Ohio State's fourth game of the year, the Buckeyes' season seemingly came to a crossroads. One week after being mallywopped at home by defending champion Texas A&M, the Buckeyes trailed rival Wisconsin on the road, 17-7. The senior laden team had a choice. Bow down once again and fall to 3-2 on the season, or claw their way back to keep their championship aspirations alive. OSU chose the latter, and led by Daquel Newell's fantastic play, the Buckeyes stormed back to upset the Badgers and ignite a 7-game win streak.

The Buckeyes season came full circle on Saturday, however, as the team misfired on just about every occasion to the same Badgers team, falling 23-20 in the Big Ten title. Ironically enough, it was the poor play of Heisman-hopeful Daquel Newell which really cost the Buckeyes. The Biletnekoff finalist dropped three passes on the day, two on 50+ yard passes that would have surely gone for touchdowns, and another on a crucial fourth down play midway through the fourth quarter.

Despite receiver poor play from their stars, Ohio State had an excellent shot to walk away with the conference crown. Tied 13-13 at the tail end of the fourth quarter, senior dime corner Jason Campbell picked off a pass on third down and returned it to the end zone for a 20-13 lead. But the Badgers were relentless, and drove down to the three yard line with less than 50 seconds remaining. On fourth and goal from the three, OSU corner Shaquille Thomas failed to turn his head and locate the fucking ball, allowing Wisconsin to tie the game.

Instead of playing for overtime, the Buckeyes attempted to mount a game-winning drive, but strong-armed quarterback Elijah Canaan floated a deep pass to Newell and was picked off. The Badgers quickly moved it back in to Buckeye territory to steal the conference title with a last-second field goal.
