Taking the show on the road (i.e., from AIM to the Forum). Last night on AIM, I was asking HAL if he thought his robot brain could come up with a better way of measuring time (as an aside, HAL expressed utter disdain, nee, contempt for the antiquated "rules"/traditions/circumstances which force English-speaking, God-fearing, 'Mericans to end our names for the days of the week with the word "day" ---- HAL's brain fart got me thinking about biger things....existential things). At any rate, I told HAL that we could probably get Osama....err, Obama and the other Socialists up in D.C. to at least give us a half billion or so of the proposed $800 billion in new stimlulus. Personally, I would like to set up a system like in the movie "In Time." Time as currency would lead to a system where nobody would thresten to go all Thelma & Louise with a cliff. (Don't get me started on use of the term "Fiscal Cliff." Same principle of propaganda used in the "Tort Reform" arguments. Reform is a good thing so there must be a problem with the tort system. It is bad to go over a cliff...you get it.) But alas, I digress.

Of course, the conversation soon turned to more important things (Hal and I have come up with a basic framework for the movie about HK...our PRELIMINARY working title is "A Video Game League of Their Own"....we are brainstorming on casting and who we want to do the screenplay. Strangely enough, KnightNoles was popping in and out of chat during this conversation singing that gay-ass Who Rides the Bus NFL Play 60 song from the commercial amd mumbling non-sense about bringing Gus Malzhan to the Steel City. Anyway, expect a big post updating the progress of getting the film made within a week or so. Main sticking point now is agreeing on the screenwriter. I want Haggis, but Hal thinks he is too faggy; Hal wants Sorkin, but I do not think that dude can grasp the politics of HK, and I think he will just create something to suit his agenda and pass it off on the world as real (can you say West Wing). Strangely enough, Hal and I agreed when Noles stopped mumbling incoherent fragments about Fig Newtons and some sort of option to spread a scheme with Mahlzan long enough to suggest Gus Van Sant --- guaranteed fag slant there. And, I am not homophobic. I think my postings here support that --- but HK deserves a super hero type script with J.J Abrams directing. Gonna need some input from the league on this one at the right time in the creative process. I think we have cast it perfectly though and I will be releasing that information ina soon to come post beofre the advent of HK Season 3. I am sure there will be debate, and I ask you to contain you excitement/opinions for now.

Anyway, what was I talking about....oh yeah, measuring time by means other than that handed down by the Holy See a couple of thousand years ago. I think we are already off the Roman Calendar in HK. Our "day" is an advance, and we call our days cool names like Week 3, Wildcard Round and FA 1. Problem solved, Hal. At this point, I was off into my own head pretty fucking deep....I am not talking Sartre deep...I mean fucking Heidegger "Being and Time" deep. German deep. All that saved me was when I began to think about the joyous time of year we are entering, and I started to ponder the real reason for this joyous season.

If you think that I am talking about Christmas, snap out of it. I am on HK time dude. I am talking about the most joyous day of the HK Calendar year....the Day of Days in HK....Draft Day. And on this Draft Day Eve, I have a special posting planned for all of my HK bros real meaning of the HK Draft and the important things to remember amd celebrate on this most joyous of days.

I feel like I just left a seminar of nonsense. I have NO clue what is trying to be said. Started with a complete mind fuck on time then went to a movie that led to some other things that somehow led to HK Draft. I, err, oh forget it

A revolution my friend. This is Reb's return to content and being active in this league. We are about to start Season 3, and I have grown weary of power rankings, etc. etc. don't get me wrong, I know there is a ton of time put into that stuff, but designing a new system of measuring time and exploring the true meaning of draft day are quite lofty concepts which require a lot of intellectual capital.

And as with any great innovation, there is always the risk of being ostracized, thrown into a lion's den, tortured...lol. I am just having some fun, dude.

BTW, I am damn near IRed Hernandez by accident for the brief time he was on my roster this week by accident AGAIN. And just so you know, he wants to be an Eagle. Very selfish of you not to trade both and him and Gronk to me.

And that is after edits and trying to organize things. Sometimes it is important to tell the story in the order it revels itself in your head. If you could get in my head bouncer, you would react something like this most likely

Edited to say that HAL9100 is a predator in late night chat. I am just there minding my own business and he says some shit about the days of the week ending in "day." Between preparing for this years draft in which I gave away most of my picks and trying to at least fake work for few hours today, I really gave some thought to some next level content. I expect fully a lot of people will be unable to determine if this shit is humorous in nature or if I am slipping into schizophrenia. Fuck, the guy who just inherited the Arena Team in New Orleans might quit. Some of the new guys might feel uncomfortable and or even fearful. I am not even sure how I feel. But then again, that is the point.

I have to clear my head before the draft tomorrow, because I am drafting for both me and ryty32 . He has asked me to make the actual picks that I traded his way. That is a lot of responsibility to delegate and I am under a lot of pressure. I have no doubt he is gonna try to Jerry Jones this shit. I do not want to let ryty down.

Some really great content here, Reb. You're like a modern day Franz Kafka trying to reach out to the HK masses and enlighten them about things and they just aren't quite ready for yet. They aren't yet capable of understanding the full scope of what you're doing here. But, they're going to go to sleep tonight thinking about this post, and maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow but someday, it's going to hit them. The existential thought. Not of oneself, but for league-self and what that really means.

Quite perceptive for artificial intelligence HAL. I was, in fact, an adavnce reader early in łife. I did a book report in 5th grade on the Herbert's first book in the Dune series. i found in some of my older brother's college stuff (he is 15 years my senior). Also foumd some critical notes on the book with his things and realized that Arrakis and its life extending spice was more than just a cool place that I would like to visit via Guid transport one day. Paul, maud'dib to the native Fremen, was revealed as a Christ fgure i. The notes and I realized that books were more than just stories then.

Within the next few months, I encountered a shorty story collection by.........Franz Kafka. First story I read was Absent Minded Window Gazing. worked my way through The Metamorphasis as well. Heavy concepts for auch a you g impressionable boy.

Thank you for this post. It helps me understand how you managed to sign Chung / Hernandez despite being on your very own untouchables list.

I really do not see how any of that relates to my biddiy had no bids on them and since I had moved to a team without the problem, I sort of tuned out of that discussion. And if you asked either Chung or Hernandez, they would prefer to be Eagles. It was tough to cut them, but i do cherish our short reunion.

When I start tying up some of the seemingly unconnected, random musings above into a cohesive messages through a series of essays to my HK bros, the message will be become clear.

But enough of that, because I like where you have shifted this thread, and now if Reb fashion, I will hijack it (can you hijack a thread you started yourself?). I think you were shooting for Socratic irony here even though no question was posed. I actually enjoys such dialogues and am very familiar with the Socratic method in general (that''s how law school classes are taught). But I digress...on to the lesson. Your statement was, in fact, ironic and there is a lesson to be learned here.

Too often people are quick to point out irony where none exists, and we have the opportunity to see a goof example of what is not irony. I am guessing a lot of people read your comments and said to themselves, ''Pretty ironic that a guy who ran a franchise into the ground is using an a post completely unrelated to anything to take a shot at Reb for bidding on restricted players.'' They would be wrong though as it is easy to mistake unprovoked sarcasm as an ironic statement.

Have you handed down any penalties for yourself, or did you hammer the Saints on your way out the door? Here is some advice for you from an adult - - When you find yourself in a position of power (e.g., enforcing rules AND meting out punishment), it is essential that individuals who are subject to said powers have confidence in your judgment. It is best to not only avoid impropriety, but also the appearance of impropriety.

You and I have never spoken privately about the circumstances that led to my misfeasance, and now, after guilt and punishment has been handed down by summary procedures, you are being cutesy about it in front of the whole league. So I am left with this - - Either you knew it was a dick move and did it anyway, or you did it without the even considering it may not be proper/funny/whatever you were shooting for.

If you have good bullshit or nonsense that adds to my line of bullshit/nonsense, please join in any such thread I start. Similarly, feel free to attempt to hijack any of my threads. I ask only that you keep topics out of my threads that should not be in the public forum.

Just one final request - -and, I think I speak for a large portion of the league here - - please do not leave another franchise in shambles. With Katrina and Bountygate, the good peopel of NOLA have suffered enough. DerekC brought peace and fostered pride during his stewardship of that franchise. Is it ironic that you destroyed it - -- damn, that irony is a slippery concept to nail down. Nah...not irony...just sarcasm as well on my part.

    Good day sir!

    1) What I said was a joke, simply related to the fact that what you were saying in your previous posts in this thread made absolutely no fucking sense. Its pretty transparent to the whole league that you made a mistake in bidding on said players, so its not like it was a big secret for me to post about it here.

    2) Someone who has had little to no success with ANY team he's controlled in this league, has no right to tell me that I "ran a team in to the ground". Anyone that even thinks I ran them in to the ground is very very wrong. A team that is stacked at just about every position (except for two RT / FS, both positions that are easily filled), is in no way "ran into the ground". I set the team up for the future and would gladly take them back over. The team was going to have little cap room this year, thus me trading their 1st / 2nd from this year before last years draft. There are many expiring contracts that I inherited when I took over the team that expire at the end of this season (Greer, Harper, Moore, and Sproles to name a few) that will free up a ton of cap room. I already have replacements in place for all those positions so finding upgrades in the draft this year OR next is not a requirement. So please, explain to me how the team is somehow ran into the ground?

    3) What penalties do I need to put in place on myself? I have broken no rules handling any of the franchise's I've controlled. If you feel I've done some injustice, feel free to inform me.

    4) Last but not least, you're saying I "hijacked your thread"? So the 3rd or 4th post in this thread that was in no way related to your original post, is some how "hijacking" it? I'm glad you chose to single me out.

    1) See post above regarding leadership and rule enforcement. If that makes no sense, perhaps ask Bob to be your mentor. You can't joke with the enlisted men about action taken against them in an official capacity and be respected if you are gonna be an officer.

    2) Logical fallacy. To suggest the validity of my opinions on your management of a team have ceased to exist because I have had ''little to no success'' with any team I have controlled is flawed reasoning. My success or lack thereof is simply not relevant to the situation in NOLA. To suggest that I cannot comment on questionable management decisions because I have not enjoyed success and have made questionable decisions is sophomoric at best. I would argue the opposite - - who better to identify unsound judgement than one so intimately familiar with it. Your argument also fails because it is ambiguous and speculative. How do you define success? Are you assuming everyone adheres to your definition?

To be fair, i will say this. I have done no investigation into nor am I aware of any acts or omissions on your part which were detrimental to the Saints. I am relying on a very respected report which appears on this forum regularly ("Inside the Huddle...''). I said those nasty things about the NOLA situation out of the shame and embarrassment I was feeling at the time from the public shaming and your hurtful words.

    3) Good questions. You have taken my opinions as formal accusations that a rule was explicitly violated. There is no rule against making bad decisions that I am aware of and I know that no such rules were in place when went F-5 on the Redskins last year. But, I was punished harshly - - by my own conscious. Guilt, shame, self-loathing. My punishments were self-inflicted and still haunt me to this day.

    4) Wrong. Slow down and read each word. I said that you ''shifted'' the thread and that I ''hijacked'' it. Far enough along in your training to hijack any of my threads you are not my young padawan learner.

That internet battle did not lend itself to media. I picture NT and I arguing as would proper gentlemen in England circa late 18th century. It will end in a duel where we each discharge our weapons into the air. NeuroticTruth I will be in NOLA Saturday night for the AAAAA finals at the Dome. Meet me in Jackson Square at high noon for the figurative duel and we will share merriment over coffee and beignets afterwards.

Thanks for helping me pass the time this morning. It helps the clock to move faster when I am fake working. Way too amped about this draft to do anything today at work.

And a big thanks to Cimmy24 for shutting that thread down. In case some of the newer guys have not ever seen it, that was a soft take down. Cimmy is not always so gentle, and he was right. If you want to do that thread, then add some pics. Some remedial pics for you along with a game.
