    #19 Rutgers vs #11 Nebraska

    Scoring Summary

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6
    Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total
    Rutgers 7 9 0 0 16
    Nebraska 7 7 15 14 43

    Story of the game

    * The defense held RU to 132 total yards (most came in 1st half). The defense was led by star LBs Compton (8 Tkl, 3TFL, 2 sacks) and Fisher (7Tkl, 2TFL, 1sack).

    * The offense sputtered early but was unstopable late as they racked up 512 yards (208 rush, 304 pass).

    Player of the game

    RB Ward
Backup running back Ward got the call as after 2 carries starting RB Okafor was injured (out for game). Ward made the best of his opportunity, he finished with:
    152 yds on 23 car (6.6ypc) and 2TDs
Rutgers did a good job bottling up the running game, but were prone to giving up the big run. Ward had a long run of 51yds, and 3 runs that went for 20+

    #9 Nebraska vs UCLA

    Scoring Summary

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6
    Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total
    Nebraska 14 7 7 17 45
    UCLA 0 0 10 0 10

    Story of the game

    * The defense held UCLA to 60 total yards of offense!
Note: UCLA's starting QB was injured in the 1st quarter.
The yardage wasn't as terrible as it reads because I got 9 sacks, most of them were for pretty big yardage losses.

    Player of the game

    QB Spano
    17 of 28 for 272yds and 3 TD

    Nebraska 0 7 10 0 17
    Wisconsin 0 0 0 0 0

    Story of the game
    * The high octane Cornhusker offense sputtered in the RedZone (2TD, 0FG out of 6 trips) as they sorely missed starting QB Spano.
    * The defense held Wisconsin to 200 yards total offense and 0 for 2 in the redzone. Wisconsin missed 3 FGs they should have made.

    Player of the game
    OLB
    7Tackles, 4TFL, 3sacks, 1INT

    Kansas(0-4) vs #9 Nebraska

    Scoring Summary

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6
    Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total
    Kansas 7 0 3 0 10
    Nebraska 7 17 7 14 45

    Story of the game
    * A game dominated by NEBRASKA linebackers. They were in the backfield all day. Kansas had negative 69 yards rushing (sacks).
    * Nebraska ran up and down the field all day. RB Okafor, in his first game back from injury racked up 201 yards on 33att (6ypc), good for 2 TDs.
    * The Nebraska passing attack still sorely misses starting QB Spano. Backup Richardson was 18 of 35, but got them when they counted (239yards, 4td, 0int) should have made.

    Player of the game
    OLB Fisher
    11Tackles, 8TFL, 5sacks, 1FF
*Note 5 sacks is new school record.
    Honarable mention to MLB Compton
9tkl, 4tfl, 4sacks (would have tied school record in sacks!)

    #23 Colorado vs #8 Nebraska
    The fight for the North
    Scoring Summary

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6
    Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total
    Colorado 0 3 3 0 6
    Nebraska 0 7 10 7 24

    Story of the game

    * The defense held CU to 177 yards total offense on some good 3rd down defense, holding CU to 3/10 on 3rd downs
    * Two huge forced fumbles by MLB Compton and MLB Whaley that turned the tide. One of them was run in for a 22yd TD in the early 3rd Q.
    * The offense sputtered early, but that was expected with starting QB Spano injured. The offense managed their points because of two big plays:
    - 1st a play action pass that led to a 48 yd reception by TD Cotton. A couple plays later the QB would run it in for a TD.
    - 2nd on a 4th and inches 27yd TD run by FB Zimmerman late to seal the deal.

    Player of the game

    DE Meredith
Meredith had 4 tackles (1 TFL), but he recovered both Colorado fumbles and scored on one of them.

Mentions go to backup QB Richardson that was called upon to start the biggest game of the year. Richardson had a serviceable day, going 9/12 for 136 yds and 0 TDs, he also scored 1 rushing TD. The biggest stat of the day was that he didn't turn the ball over... the NU achilles heal.

    Good game bcduggan!

    Up next?
A conference championship battle with the skip's Longhorns.

From a defensive standpoint, Nebraska played excellent. It didn't help Colorado that Hildreth was injured and is out till the bowl game or so.

They made some plays early, but Colorado got behind and relied much more heavily on the pass... they were relegated to playing some cover zones where they don't shine as much.

Each had 6 tackles and 1 TFL... and Compton forced a fumble

How do they have so many sacks did you not send them as much ? Seems like if they were passing you could have unleashed them

It was part of my gameplan, I wasn't sending them

They were either in a zone cover or spying for most of the game

    #8 Nebraska vs #4 Texas
    Big12 Conference Championship Game
    Scoring Summary

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6
    Team 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total
    Nebraska 7 7 3 7 24
    Texas 3 0 7 7 17

    Story of the game
*Texas scored 3 points early and then Nebraska took control, scoring 14 unanswered. NU had the ball inside the 10 with under a minute to go in the half and threw an INT that could have made it an 18 point game.

    * In the first half the Nebraska defense was stellar, holding Texas to under 60 total yards in the entire half.

    * In the second half the giant was awoken, the Texas defense was much tougher and the passing game began moving the ball downfield.

    * The play that defined the game: trailing 17-10 in the middle of the 4th Q , with the ball, Texas threw an out pattern to the near sideline... MLB Compton that was playing zone out in the corner slipped in front of it and returned 41yds for a TD.

    Player of the game

Starting RB Okafor was injured early and backup RB Ward was called upon for most of the carries. He earned himself the POTG honors.

Ward got 18 carries and ran for 85yds. He also caught 2 balls for 13yds.

    Good game skip!

    Up next?
A good ol' fashion celebration as we await for the Bowl selection commitee to make their decisions!
