The Cubs system has been widely regarded over the years as one of the better systems for players to develop in. Here we will keep tabs on some of their more known prospects.

The first player we are going to profile is catcher Jose Velasquez. An INT FA signed in 2039, Velasquez spent years looking like nothing to scouts. But something changed in 2044, and everything clicked for Jose. He has exploded into a guy who should torch left handed pitching in the future and hit a ton of balls out of the park.

We are also going to discuss our top pitching prospect today, Tim Price. We acquired Price in a deal with Baltimore for former 3rd round pick Ed Martin, who had stagnated in our system. Price was not viewed as much of a ML talent when with Baltimore, but we liked the fact that he was a lefty and was showing signs of being underrated. He was starting to get stronger and we were hoping he would become a more proficient strikeout pitcher. The control boost, though, was unexpected and is definitely due to him getting around better coaches. Price has gone from a fringe ML pitcher when we acquired him to a guy who looks like a possible Cy Young candidate in a year or two if his control continues to develop.

Very similar guy to SP Jose Vazquez. Vazquez is still a couple years away currently. Our expectation for him is 2049 at some point.

You gotta hope that Vazquez doesn't keep getting fat and losing stamina. Time for the staff to put him on a training regimen.
