Rivalries. We love them because they add an extra element to an already awesome and intense game. How can you not love football with a bit more intensity? A bit more excitement? And being able to enjoy bragging rights for a week (Or less in Madden)? So when the Cowboys prepared to face their division rivals in NY, how much can a coach say to his team to get them fired up. Not much. All he needed to say was, "Zero". As in the amount of times this team has beaten NY. On the road or home, didn't matter. Dallas simply made too many mistakes to win in the past.

Coming into this game, limiting the mistakes while also containing RB D. Wilson were the keys to a Cowboy victory. You can say both were accomplished. The defense simply played lights out vs Wilson, who did manage to break free for a 44yd run in the 3rd qtr, pulling NY to within 3pts. But subtract that 44yd run and Wilson was held to 21yds on 13 attempts. Not a bad effort considering the stats he put up in Week 1. The front 7 also sacked QB R. Nassib 3 times and kept constant pressure on the Giants' OL.

Limiting mistakes was the other key. Compared to past performances, we'll have to say QB J. Echavaria did his part, only throwing 2 INTs, while also throwing 2 TDs. None bigger than the one to re-emerging WR T. Williams for 55yds in the 2nd qtr. Up to that point, the Dallas D had held the Giants' offense to 6 points. So with that score, Dallas jumped out to a 7-6 lead with 2:18 to play in the half. And that was the turning point in the game as Dallas would go on to score another 10pts to take a commanding 17-6 lead into the half. RB D. Murray took over the game in the 2nd half, scring TDs via the air (6yd pass) and the ground (53yd run).

QB R. Nassib was picked off twice by SS J.J. Wilcox who made his presence known, making plays all over the field. But the entire secondary did a good job, picking off Nassib 5 times and also locking down WR V. Cruz, who managed only 2 catches for 35yds. Youngsters J. Bangley and A. Lopez did most of the damage thru the air for NY.

With the win, Dallas moves into 1st place in the NFC East at 2-0. Dallas travels to face the 1-1 Lions while NY gets a 2nd shot at the Redskins in week 3.

    GG James...
