(AP)Cincinnati, OH - The Bengals opened week 1 at Paul Brown Stadium for their season opener against a very familiar opponent in the Ravens for an early season AFC North battle. This game would several momentum shifts as it was the Bengals getting off to a quick start. New Bengals RB CJ Spiller would start things off by helping the Bengals score on their opening drive on a 26 yard TD run to take the lead 7-0. The Ravens would make the first mistake of the day as Flacco was picked off by Dontay Moch who returned it 49 yards setting the Bengals up inside the Raven 30. It took just 2 plays for Dalton to hook up with AJ Green for the score and a 14-0 lead.

The Ravens however would not go away quietly. The comination of Ray Rice and Lagarette Blount would ound the ball time and tim again when eventually Rice would score from 1 yard out to make it 14-7. On the ensuing drive the Bengals would make their only mistake of the game. CJ Spiller fumbled near the sideline picked up by the Ravens and just like that the game was tied on another Ray Rice TD run 14-14.

The Bengals would keep the pressure on as they would score the next 10 points on another Spiller TD run and would add a FG to end the half up 24-14. The Ravens would eat up most of the 3rd Qtr but would have to settle for a FG thanks to a big 3rd down stop where Ray Rice nearly got around the edge for a TD and now trailed 24-17. The Bengals would keep the pressure on late in the 3rd Qtr as Andy Dalton hit AJ Green for the 2nd time on a 28 yard strike to put the the Bengals up 31-17.

The Ravens once again would not go quietly into the night. Flacco and company went down the field in hurry up mode where Flacco hit Johnny Knox diving over the middle of the field for a 17 yard strike pulling to within 7 with just over 3 minutes to go. The play of the game came on a 3rd and 8 with 2:30 left in the game where Dalton again found AJ Green this time on a slant where he was able to hold on after getting rocked for a 1st down. The Ravens would get the ball back but with only :30 and no timeouts and the Bengals would hold on for a 31-24 victory.
