If your team is listed to the right, you have the ability to submit Ebay bids on those players for Day 2 bids.

Let me clarify a few things with submitting the bids. You must list the players contract out when saying you are going to bid on a player. Saying M.Vick - 12$ is too arbitrary. Is that 7$/yr with a 5$ signing bonus? I dont know unless you say so. Some of you may have lost out on some bids this period because of this.

Additionally, you cannot say, "Bid on this guy but if I don't get him, bid on this guy." A bid is a bid.

Also, can everyone please start listing out the players Position, Age and Overall? Most people failed miserably on the formatting but some showed they can actually read directions. My hat is off to them.

The biggest mystery that I need answered is how old is Devery Henderson? The website says 31 but my hunch is the console says 29 maybe? I ask this because I submitted a 2yr bid and was outbid by someone who submitted a 4yr bid. My bid would be the leading bid if it were 2 years but would not be if it is 4 years (I had a significant signing bonus attached to mine.) If someone could give me his actual age off the console, that would be great.

Next bidding period officially ends around this time tomorrow so submit your bids to me tonight to be on the safe side.

Please look here at post #2, titled "FA Period" to explain more detail about proper bid format.

I have every single PM and none of them are from you about a FA bid. That last PM I have from you is about Damian Williams.

So have you decided what the penalty will be if you go over the salary cap?

Thank you. That means I am in the lead for Henderson then.

I have not decided what the penalty would be for going over the cap on your bids. I suppose the penalty would be, get under the cap immediately or I'm kicking you from the league until you do [IMG]

Well shit the rules said there'd be a draft pick penalty for going over. If we just have to make some more cuts to get under then that changes my bidding strategy all together.

There's not much incentive to do that when I can just make a few cuts here and there to get back under. After the past few days of overhauling rosters I think we should all be clear on what our team's cap situation is. I think that under no circumstances should you be putting in FA bids that you know you can't afford without making additional cuts and there should be a stiff penalty to enforce that.

Unfortunately, little nuances of the salary cap like that aren't managed. As long as you're under the cap, it doesn't matter to me how you got there.

In an ideal world, yes. In our world, if you're over the cap by a few bucks because of an FA signing, just cut a guy here or there - if you don't you can't play in the league until you do.

It's not as easy as just cutting excess fat. if you cut a player under contract you then still have half of his salary on your cap until that players contract is up.

True but the benefits of getting a star player in FA can outweigh having to pay half of a couple backup lineman's salaries that you had to cut to be able to keep that player. I think the teams that have the $$$ to afford a player should have the advantage compared to the teams that are knowingly going over their cap with their bids.

i think the real problem lies with the fact that an elite starters salary is only 3-4 times that of his backup

I agree, at no point should a team be able to bid on FA if they are over the cap, we need to have a way to reward guys that are good towards the cap.

Well - I never really thought that people who didn't have cap space would be going nuts in free agency. Look at the Jets and Giants, they're in salary cap hell and they aren't doing anything. I mean, who are you guys worried about?

As far as I can tell, no one is really going overboard anyway.

I know its too late for this season but maybe in the future it'd be worth having a cap and/or roster cuts deadline before FA.

It's not people that people are going overboard or worried about guys, I think we have a pretty solid league

I just call it "Preventative Measures" to ensure the integrity of the league for any new people that may come along and could abuse it (I am in no way talking about the new guys we currently have)
