I've only used the default books to date, but next season I'm considering making a custom one. So, what are the rules / guidelines that we decided on before?

I'd like to do something in the multiple format so like a 3-4 / 3-3-5 / 5-2 type. Would this be acceptable?

Or what are some of the other options considered sim for this?

Look at you with the 3-3-5 right away. I thought we were going to discuss a ban on it.

My 3-4 CPB only has 2 formations that have more than 3 d-linemen. The normal nickel package and the normal dime package.
I have all the 3-4 and 3-3-5 formations in it.

I don't find it very realistic to have completely opposite ends of the spectrum in the same book. I'd be ok with 5-2 use if your base was a 4 front.

5-2 is in the base 3-4 defense

    *editing CPB

But really, why does a 3-4 have the 5-2 in it? That makes no sense.

My CPB is an expansion on the base multiple pb (3-4/4-3). My base formation is 3-4 95% of the time, but when I'm really getting worked on the ground or really, really expect a run I'll sometimes go with 4-3. I have the 5-2 in my pb too but I'm not sure if I've ever used it once in this OD.

I just looked at the rules, are there are really nothing explicit about what is expected from the defensive playbooks. In AM we decided the multiple was prohibited, especially any customization of it because you could put all the defensive formations in there. We all had to pick a specific scheme, and could add two separate formations from the base package. So if you chose the 3-3-5, and put in one/two 3-4 packages, and the 5-2 (which seems sketchy to me that wouldn't be a problem). I don't understand how the 5-2 finds it's way in the base 3-4 package, but that is another issue.

Why does the 3-4 have the goal line defense in it???
I doubt it gets banned. When I brought it up before nobody seemed to be too against the use of it.

LOL....Well considering I play you once every 8 seasons I can't really make beating you a big part of my game plan. Now I've thrown the best stuff I have in the 4-3 and the 5-2 at Dakota and had terrible results so I might as well try something else.

I said that if I sometimes use the 4-3 against the run, but for some reason, I've ALWAYS had a lot more success stopping dakota7 's running game with my 3-4 than my 4-3.

It may have been mocking, but it's accurate. Having a 5-2 in a 3-4 pb isn't any weirder than having a goal line D in a 3-4 pb.

It wasn't mocking. The 5-2 and the goal line are the same up front. Only difference is a lb in place of a safety.

I rarely use goal line. Maybe that is a fault of mine but I feel like the 3-4 & 3-3-5 formations work better to blitz the gaps

But I guess if you use the 5-2 in goal line situations, its kosher. I'd like to be able to actually create my own plays and formations for my CPB next release you know. Maybe bring to life my 2-5-4 defense..

I think the "on the fly blocking" is all screwed up in this game....in other words defenders who dont start lined up on the line of scrimmage.

    +1000

Had this happen yesterday in my game lol.....G pulls runs through the hole where the LB is standing and completely ignores him. Result? LB tackles my HB for -3 yards. SMH!

And thats the reason the 3 front defenses can shut down power running attacks.

I've said before this game is programmed ass backwards. What should work doesn't and what shouldn't does. :)
