Demon Deacons 2013

Wake Forest gets clobbered by #2 ranked Michigan 38-17, tough opener for the Demon Deacons as they cant match speed with The Wolverines. QB McMahon had a decent game throwing for almost 300 yds 2 TD's and 2 int's. But giving up 4 big plays over 50 yds really hurt along with 4 TO's was too much to overcome.

Well at Least the Stadium was full.!

Wake Forest Gets 1st Win of The Season!

The Demon Deacons beat South Carolina in a thriller 49-42 in overtime!

South Carolina opened the game with a 47 yd Sanchez run for a TD, the Wake came back with a TD drive of there own capped by a 5yd TD pass by Jeff McMahan, then on the ensueing kick Wake caused a fumbled that was returned for a TD, Wake up 14-7. Then after back to back GameCock TD's, Jeff McMahan hooked up with WR A. Ryan for a 28 yd TD were Ryan muscled it in for the last 5 yds.

The So Car would add 2 more TD's before the half to take a 35-21 lead into the break.
Wake would come out strong in the second half scoring on there opening drive, with a 13 yd TD reception from S. London.

Then after a defensive stop McMahan hooked up with London again for a 21yd TD.

WAke would score again to take a 42-35 lead with a couple minutes to go but couldnt stop The Gamecocks as they tied it up, but they still left time on the clock, Wake would drive all the way down the field and with 1 second left they would miss a 30 yd Fieldgoal, OH NO ice the kicker worked on me again. Luckily Wake, who got the ball first in OT would add a TD and the defense would create a lucky TO on the fumble by Sanchez to lock up the W.

    J. McMahan 293 yds passing 4 TD's and 1 INT
    S. London 187 yds recieving and 2 TD's
I forgot what a good game Edward Fredrick had on the ground 160 yds rushing on 30 carries and 1 TD.

Both teams combined for over 900 yds in total offense, but Wake winning the TO battle 4-2 was the difference

Wake Forest beats Rice 35-0 in snoozer, The Deacond put 28 points in the first half and cruised from there to an easy win. Edward Frederick had 95 yds rushing and 3 TD's while Jeff McMahan had another solid performance with 257 yds, 1 TD and 0 INTs. Both players sat out most of the second half so you know the first team offense was clicking. Next up Maryland.

McMahan having a solid year so far with 828 yds passing 7 TD's and only 2 Int's.

Wake Forest upsets #10 Clemson 35-34.

Things looked bleak from the start after a defensive stop, a fumble on the punt return led to Clemson going up 7-0, then another fumble led to another Clemson TD, then after a stop a Clemson field goal put The Tigers up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter. Wake not giving up came back with avengence scoring on 3 consecutive drives to take a 21-17 lead with 16 seconds to go in the half.

Last TD a 58 yd Seth London TD reception.

Sure enough on the kickoff R McDowell returns it 83 yds for a TD to put Clemson up 24-21 at the half.

Clemson and Wake would trade TD's in the 3rd quarter and at the start of the 4th quarter Clemson would add a fieldgoal. both teams would battle for yards with know luck until with 1:19 left on the clock Wake would dial up a huge drive going 70 yds with no timeouts down to the 4 yd line were with 9 seconds left QB Jeff McMahan would hook up with Sophomore WR Alex Ryan for a game winning TD.

Wake Forest tops NC State in a thriller 24-21

Things started off poorly for Wake as Freshman Kicker Kyle Goodman would miss Field goals on Wakes first two drives both kicks coming up short. The starting Sophomore HB Edward Frederick would be lost for the rest of the season with broken ribs. Meanwhile NC state would take a 2 Touchdown lead both rushes by HB J Washington.

Wakes kicker would redeem himself a little bit making a field goal at the end of the half to cut the deficit to 14-3.

The Demon Deacons would come out in the third quarter living up to there names as the whole team looked possessed as the D was creating Turnovers and the offense was capitalizing. 3 straight INT's led to TD's to put Wake up 24-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Here is highlights of Jeff McMahans 2 Passing TD's.

Lucky this one wasnt picked as it just dropped in there nicely.

NC State would battle back to get within 3 but another INT with not much time left would seal the deal. Wake holds on to win 24-21

Wake goes to 6-2 on the year. (y)
