    Did We Adjust Penalties

I just started my game with UCF and the first 4 plays have either been holding on me or a Face mask call on them...Wow

I was going to ask the same thing. In my CMU game I had 3 (no big deal at all) but they had 9. I checked Sconsin's game and they combined for 20 penalties!

I had a shit ton of penalties. I think the cpu had atleast five face masks. I'll check it out and see the exact totals. It got to the point that I had to decline the face masks because I didnt want to score more than 40

For my game, I'm pretty sure that it was holding penalties that were called the most.

I thought I left these alone, but I'll double check. I was playing with settings a bit, and it's possible the file I hosted still had increased settings. They should be 100, 75, and 50, depending on the category. If you see anything set at 80, then I made a mistake. I can change it, but it won't take affect until the advance. Still, even if we take a bunch of penalties one week, we'll still likely end up the least penalized teams in the nation, not that this takes away from the annoyance or anything.

It might be a fluke week since I had no problems week 1.

I think we definitely need to take a look at these again. My game will only show 4 penalties for 43 yards for Duke but I declined well over 100 yards worth of penalties (mostly facemasks with a couple of clippings as well). I attempted my Duke game a couple of times and in another restart I declined close to 100 yards worth of penalties by halftime.

Couldn't find any info as to what the penalty sliders were, so I just went with whatever my default gamer profile was set to. The Varsity sliders are 100% correct, according to the stickied thread.

Game 1: OU @ Army: 5 penalties (User v. User)
Game 2: OU @ Florida: 14 (Basis had to sim due to the LSU/NEB issue)
Game 3: OU v. Southern Miss: 12 Penalties (I wasn't paying that close attention to it but if I remember correctly there were a "shit ton" of facemasks by USM)

My game with Troy had a butt load of penalties. We need to tone them down bigtime.

Anyone have any that they like? I can change them so that they are better in week 4 if anyone has any before we advance Monday.

turn down facemask. The cpu goes aggressive and gets a lot of those.

Facemasks are pretty much the only issue. The others are right there where they should be.

55 for Holding, Facemask, and Clipping seems to work well for us in TF:C2C.

The other thing I noticed was the Kick returns by the cpu were crazy, they returned two for tds on me and came close two other times.

If that continues to happen we need to look at our CPU block settings.

    Absolutely.

One of La Tech's scores on me was a kick return for a TD.

Pretty much, what's happening is that the CPU's blockers are pancaking people WAY too much on kick returns. It's crazy to see 75% of my team get pancaked.

Kick returns are no longer determined by block settings. They fixed that with one of the patches. It is interesting that both of you have seen the CPU returning kick returns. In 1 of my Duke retries, I was up 49-14 where both of Duke's TDs were kick returns. Unfortunately, unless we lost a patch somehow, there isn't a slider that affects kick return blocking to my knowledge.

So sayeth EA so sayeth...oh nevermind...

I dont buy it, unless it was a one week bump in the road my team was getting pancaked all over the field by the Troy blockers.

We had two of three TDs for them come off kick returns and one off a pick return.

It looked like some test sliders we tried early on with the cpu run blocking cranked up and the cpu had td ret after td return. Could just be a small bump in the road too..who knows.

I think it's the HB run ability and HB run blocking cause not only are they flat lining everyone, but they are then breaking 2 or 3 tackles at a time as well. It's pretty crazy stuff.

I personally think that's a great thing. I think that the CPU should be able to run the ball. As long as the run blocking sliders in fact don't affect their kick returns (and maybe even if they do again somehow) I think we should crank up the CPU running since they've never been able to do it.

In an offline dynasty, I played a season and a half with CPU run ability at 60 (turned it down to 55 for the last half season) and CPU run blocking at 55 (bumped up to 60 for last half season) and have had great results. The CPU has put up a few 200+ rushing yards against me (MSU and PSU just absolutely torched me) while I've still help a few teams under 60ish yards. Also, during that 1.5 seasons, I don't think the CPU ever ran back a kickoff for a TD against me.

I think the cpu cheats enough as it is.

Here's what I wrote a while back on CPU rushing from my offline dynasty.

Here are my results from the season.

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6 Column 7 Column 8
Opponent Result score My rushing yds Their rushing yds My top rusher Their top rusher
    Western Mich W 49-6 330 190 11-136 30-140
    Notre Dame W 34-22 140 47 12-31 22-67
    Eastern Mich W 62-0 237 -7 13-68 9-41
    Indiana W 21-16 123 -2 11-46 8-41
    @ MSU W 17-10 155 229 9-126 29-259!!!
    @Iowa L 3-14 115 145 16-67 28-158
    Navy W 52-28 169 316!!! 9-104 12-159
    Penn St L 28-48 77 196 7-44 20-211!!!
    @Illinois L 27-30 119 109 11-50 16-101
    Purdue W 24-17 85 61 10-45 22-71
    @Wisconsin W 20-10 103 137 16-93 24-126
    aOSU L 21-31 179 62 16-99 26 58
    vs. Texas A&M W 41-35 257 29 22-96 12-33

So it looks like I had 7 opponent RBs rush for over 100 against me.

I can't see my national ranks so I'll give my Big 10 ranks:
    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    Stat Value Rank
    PPG 30.6 #2
    Rushing O 2089 #2
    Passing O 2121 #11
    Total O 4210 #10
    Rushing D 1512 #10
    Passing D 2826 #11
    Total D 4338 #10
    Points 267 #9

Compared to my numbers from season 1 of this OD (which includes 2 user games)
    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    Stat Value Rank
    PPG 35.0 #3
    Rushing O 2241 #2
    Passing O 2241 #9
    Total O 4594 #4
    Rushing D 665 #1*
    Passing D 3032 #10
    Total D 3697 #4
    Points 243 #4

*My rushing D was #1 in the entire country. If you don't include user games, no back rushed for more than 78 yards against me and only a few had 50+ against me (vs. the 7 100+ yard rushers and 2 200+ yards rushers in my offline dynasty)
