I think most reasonable people would be ok with mishaps, as long as what happened makes sense and they can learn from it. For instance with an over the head LS in the playoffs, that's dynamic and immersive IF gamers can look back at the replay and what happened makes sense. For Madden to represent something dynamic like this, imo, they would need to have a lot more variations of mundane tasks, like for handoffs, snaps, QB releases, etc. For example, there can't be just two punt snap animations, one that playsout for a high snap over the Punter and one for a successful punt. There needs to be several types of punt snaps ranging from ideal to potentially disastrous. In NBA2k13 with passes and lobs for dunks, there are variations of these things in-game so when one of these result in a complete mishap, ie pass flying well over the intended targets head, it seems dynamic and organic, not like a win/loss dice roll.
If people break controllers over something like a bad snap or bad hold on a fg or whatever else that happens in football Ncaa or Madden, need to decide if they need to shell out the $60 for the game. personally would love to see it in the VG. look how far the Nba 2k series has come.
Since this thread is about realism, I wanted to bring up realistic penalty representation. Many gamers have been disappointed by the lack of penalty representation in Madden this entire gen but some recent news has me wondering what might be in-store for M25. http://kotaku.com/5946745/rumor-next-years-madden-will-include-actual-nfl-referees http://www.operationsports.com/foru...opers-working-implementing-new-nfl-rules.html What these articles point out is that M25 is rumored to be adding real NFL refs and focusing on implementing the new real NFL rules for this season into M25. Then I remembered that Kolbe, who worked on creating MLB The Show, now works on creating Madden and was lead to this article by another poster mentioning how umpires are implemented in MLB The Show. http://kotaku.com/5907525/these-are...rewsand-the-parks-they-workin-mlb-12-the-show According to this, The Show uses umpire crews with unique personalities for how they officiate a game. Doesn't seem like a stretch to me, giving the little info released about real refs and penalties for M25, that something like this maybe coming for M25. What do you guys think about my speculation and/or the general premise of implementing ref personalities and crews, like in The Show, to M25? Do you think it would be a good addition, would it fix or at least improve the lack of penalty realism for things like DPI/OPI? If not, what do you think would be a way to address the issue?
It's all rumors until the people who actually make the game say something. The lack of penalties in Madden is one of my biggest issues with the game. Personally, I would just like the calls to get made, individual official tendencies are secondary to me. In baseball, there is measurable strike zone data, I'm not sure the NFL wants the officials to be anything more than robots.
