Question, why dont these correspond to the offline file? They seem to be a few off in my case

Because even though EA is the only one that can make a NFL game, they don't understand the tiebreaker system in the NFL.

Doesn't say much when the man in charge is more concerned about his rec league soccer team than he is Madden. You think he would apply to be on the team for FIFA 11.

Refer to Troy's response, LOL. The offline file is only updated based on current team records. It will be updated with the accurate draft order once the playoffs are completed and will reflect the correct draft order with tie-breakers applied.

updated 10/26/10. revised tie SoS tiebreakers as follows...

If two or more clubs are tied in the selection order, the strength-of-schedule tie breaker is applied, subject to the following exceptions for playoff clubs:

    1. The Super Bowl winner is last and the Super Bowl loser next-to-last.
    2. Any non-Super Bowl playoff club involved in a tie moves down in drafting priority within its tied segment as follows:

For a loss inthe Wild-Card playoffs, a plus factor of one-half.
For participation, win or lose, in the Divisional Playoffs, a plus factor of one.
For a loss in the conference championship Game, a plus factor of one.

    3. Clubs with the best won-lost-tied records after these steps are applied will drop to their appropriate spots at the bottom of the tied segment. In no case will the above process move a club lower than the segmentin which it was initially tied.
    4. Tied clubs will alternate priority throughout the 7 rounds of the draft. In case of a tie involving three or more teams, the club with priority in the first round will drop to the bottom of the tied segment in the second round and move its way back to the top of the segment in each succeeding round.

If any ties cannot be broken by strength of schedule, the divisional or conference tie breakers, whichever are applicable, are applied. Any ties that still exist are broken by a coin flip.

    1. Chiefs win head-to-head tie break vs. Texans (strength of schedule tied; week 6… Texans 50 vs. Colts 47)
    2. Jaguars win Divisional tie-break vs. Packers (strength of schedule tied; no head-to-head played)
3.Browns win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Bills, Bears, and Cowboys
    4. Bears win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Bills and Cowboys
    5. Bills win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Cowboys
    6. Eagles win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Ravens and Redskins
    7. Ravens win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Redskins
    8. Falcons win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Lions, Dolphins, and 49ers
    9. Lions win head-to-head tie break vs. Dolphins (strength of schedule tied; week 16… Lions 35 vs. Dolphins 41) and strength of schedule tie-break vs. 49ers
    10. Dolphins win strength of schedule tie-break vs. 49ers
    11. Steelers win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Raiders
    12. Titans win strength of schedule tie-break vs. Cardinals

Ok, never done a next gen draft so I have a few questions to ask here if you guys dont mind.

    1. I assume the draft is held here on the forum using this order and then Doug or Eddie apply the players to the teams that drafted them at a later date through the Online franchise. Is this correct?

    2. This is the set in stone order or does the offline file detirmine it?

    3. How are salaries for the drafted players detirmined since the names dont match up with the offline file?

With that said I wanted to point out a couple corrections or issues that I found with the posted order

    1. I have Miami's 2nd and he has mine (because of the CJ2k trade)
    2. I also have Pittsburghs 2nd rounder but it is listed as the 18th pick in the 2nd wen he has the 17th in the 1st. I think their might be an extra team in there somewhere. Hope this helps. Not trying to stir up trouble just point out what I see.

Thanks in advance for your guys replies

What’s good Brad. This should help provide some clarity. If not, hit me up on YIM tonight and I should be able to give you the additional details you need…

Correct. The draft is held in the forum. The reason for this is because the online draft feature provides an inaccurate draft order and it does not allow for us to trade draft picks. We won’t do a “live” draft via YIM for technical reasons which I’m sure you understand. It is just a much more thorough process which we are able to complete effectively and accurately if we hold the draft in the forum.

Typically, in the past we have been able to get two rounds completed in 24hrs, but that is with a lot of chasing by me and Eddie. A lot of that was dependent upon the availability of the owners and whether or not they did their due diligence in providing the staff with a draft board. This year, Eddie and I will require that EVERYONE produce a draft board for us and a phone number. If the owner is “on the clock” to make their selection, they can submit it via the forum or YIM if we are online. Otherwise, we will contact that person at the phone number provided. If they are unavailable or unable to make an informed selection at the time of our call, we will make the selection for that owner based on their draft board. If they have not provided a draft board to us, we will select the next best player in a position of need for them.

What I will most likely do is set a block of time in which the draft will be held each night (example: 7pm EST to 11pm EST). Owners will be “on the clock” during those hours of draft operation. If it is their turn to make a selection and they are unavailable and/or have not produced a draft board for the league staff, we will make the selection for them. Owners may still submit their draft selection(s) outside of those hours if the draft results have been updated and it is their turn to make a selection, but we would not enforce the “on the clock” guidelines outside of the hours of draft operation.

If we decide to operate the draft with specified hours of operation, we will need assistance from an individual or individuals who are available and can help out as I am not always available during those hours. We would hold those draft hours each night until the draft is completed, and then proceed from there with the rookie signings once all selections have been made.

The draft order produced in the forum is THE draft order. We use the NFL tie-break rules to determine the draft order, and therefore, the online franchise and offline franchise do not produce an accurate draft order without us manipulating them to be correct. Eddie and I have all of that covered, and the offline file draft order will be updated so that each team makes their selection using the correct pick (whether it be their own, or a pick received in a trade) in the correct selection order. We will produce an updated file which will reflect the correct selection order as posted in the forum.

Salaries are determined by the offline file, which is based on A) the position that has been drafted, and B) the point in the draft which the player was drafted. Overall ratings DO NOT make a difference in the contract values. All that matters is the position, and where the player was selected in the draft order.

With that said, when we update the offline file, the players are drafted by the appropriate team at the correct position in the correct draft selection order. We rename the players drafted to your team so that you will be able to determine who they are and what their contract demands will be. DO NOT pay attention to their overall ratings and/or attributes as they do not matter (the same goes for any other non-rookie players on your team).

The trade terms were that the Titans would receive the better valued 2nd round draft pick of the two teams… http://forums.traditionsportsonline.com/threads/titans-dolphins-blockbuster.30172/

Therefore, you are correct. I have updated the draft order accordingly.

The Steelers and Raiders were tied with overall records of 8-8 respectively. The Steelers won the strength-of-schedule tie-break with an opponent winning percentage of .484 while the Raiders opponent winning percentage was .523. The team with the lowest opponent winning percentage selects first, and then the picks alternate throughout the remaining rounds of the draft (nfl.com tie-break procedures… http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures).

No trouble at all. We like to see owners active and involved. Any other questions, let us know.
