So I was bored today and wanted to figure out if EA got the proper deciding factors on how to determine draft pick order. I simulated a CCM and took a look at the final standings as sorted by NFL by losses. Then I went in and jumped to the draft. The two orders did not match up, so I wanted to look into what would be the determining factors were that made teams with like records pick ahead of the others. So I checked into the factors in the past.... Alphabetical order based on Team Name Alphabetical order based on Team City Point Diffierential Conference Record Division Record All these factors did not determine the actual picking order. The actual determining factor IRL for breaking ties amongest like record of teams is Strength of Schedule. The teams that have the easiest schedule will pick ahead of those that had a harder schedule. So I decided to calculate that for those teams... Results: EA actually got it correct. The true tiebreaker worked the way it should have. This was tested on an offline CCM and I am hoping it translates to our online model. I made this chart to show what our draft order would look like if this remains the same for us: I did through the 6-10 teams as this got very time consuming. This should show pick 1-14.
