I really want to know if point differentials are going to be accurate this year. There have been many times in NCAA13 where I have dumped 60 minutes into a recruit, gotten 2X with pipeline bonus, and pumped in over 1,000 points, only to still be 80 pts behind the leader, just like the previous week. It's very unlikely that the leader for that recruit had the EXACT same point total as I did. If this years points are accurate it will really help when it comes to allocation.
I always assumed it was an estimated number and that the hidden bonuses were minimal. It seemed to me like an 80 point gap was in reality 120 for example, almost like a weighted point system if that makes any sense. But, I have no actual evidence of that so Shaun/Drift would likely know better than I would
I've got a couple of questions. 1. Is the coaching carousel still in place? 2. Can we hire coordinators? 3. Will the new coaching XP mechanic still work without the carousel enabled? 4. What happens if we have to "rebuild" the file due to transfer failed and other errors in regards to coaching xp and progression? For instance... My head coach has built himself up pretty well with XP. We get a transfer fail and have to rehost the file and rejoin the dynasty. What happens to that XP? 5. Are conference schedules unlocked and editable?
Drifter already touched base on this but wanted to elaborate a little more. No, you cannot hire your own coordinators, but as the head coach you have a direct effect on the XP they earn and how to allocate points on their skill tree. Same, other than now utilizes new point system Was still there in testing... but they are aware I did not notice any skill levels change after scouting, but was not directly looking for this
That's no good. Ill make sure people in dynasties I'm in and I commish avoid those teams. Could cause major problems with the new point system.
awesome stuff Drifterbub im really looking forward to NCAA 14 this year.. main reasons, im holding off on getting Madden until the new Xbox is out, that the off season stuff is now quicker to get through, and that recruiting in general will be easier to get through.
4. What happens if we have to "rebuild" the file due to transfer failed and other errors in regards to coaching xp and progression? For instance... My head coach has built himself up pretty well with XP. We get a transfer fail and have to rehost the file and rejoin the dynasty. What happens to that XP? HackGolfer The reason I asked the above question is because the numerous times Ive had to do this when you rejoin the league it asks if you want to use the existing coach or create a new coach. So I am hoping that if you use the existing coach all the progression is saved on that coach. By leaving the dynasty and then coming back this should answer that question if you can get a chance to test it. My fear is spending seasons progressing a coach and then with a "rehost" of the file, this all being lost.
Understood and agreed. Unfortunately the builds we played were not stable for online dynasty, so I don't have much to base off of until the game drops
Drifterbub, HackGolfer 1. How did you feel the offseason recruiting worked out? Specifically, do you think the 1 week would be a pain in the ass for leagues that have scholarship limits? In the E we don't allow swaying so at the end of the season (if you're good) you have guys declaring for the draft (I think I lost 10 guys each of the last 2 seasons) so there are a bunch of new schollies opening up. With 5 weeks, it's easy enough to fill them as I sign some guys, lose some guys, and then sign my "plan B"s. With 1 week, there is no plan B because I can't make an offer to plan B because if I do indeed sign my plan A and plan B, then I've signed too many guys and broken the scholarship limit (and I'd wager that most ODs on TSO have scholarship limits). 2. How do pipelines work (is their point total still a % or is it a flat 50 points) and are they still worth it? In previous games pipelines added 25% to your point total which is pretty huge. In the bonus point SS I saw the pipeline bonus was only 50 points (which was only 13% of the 380 point bonus and a paltry 5% of the 880 point total if he maxed out his points). The first thing I always do when I take over a team is to build some good pipelines. If it's always a flat 50 point bonus, then that likely won't be worthwhile and spending XP on taking my pipeline requirements from 6 guys down to 3 guys would really, really not be worthwhile. Obviously free points are free points, but in this case they likely wouldn't be worth the cost.
I think leagues with scholarship limits are going to have to manage their offers like colleges in real life do. You will have to stay neck and neck with schools in order to keep the recruiting for that recruit open without being locked out. Once you know if a guy leaves or stays, then you take action. You will not be able to coast and then worry about getting it done in the off-season. Off-season recruiting is essentially an auction. You dump your points into the recruits you want and that is your final chance at landing them. I'm not sure if I like it more than the historical NCAA Football approach to off-season, but it is somewhat realistic if you think about it. Coaches dump all of their resources into the kids they want right up until the dead period. 2) I don't believe it's a flat bonus. I'll have to check on that. Pipelines are still going to be worth it. You are getting at a very large concept into the new dynasty mode. You brought up one of 1000 different scenarios on how to merry your coaching XP to your style of play. The coaching skills are going to make or break you.
But since a guy won't declare for the draft until the end of the season, you have no choice but to "worry about getting it done in the off-season." In '13, since I know I'll have guys declare early I fill all of my open schollies in-season and then max out about 10 other recruits, but obviously don't make them offers (this sounds like what you're suggesting). Then we hit the offseason and I have 7 guys declare early. In week 1, I make offers to 7 of my 10 maxed out guys. In week 2, I sign 4, but lose 3 to other teams. I then offer 3 more schollies to the remaining guys in week 2. With 1 offseason week, in that same scenario, I'll have no choice but to be out 3 scholarship players since there is no week 2. Is that a correct assessment of the new system?
jello1717 I think the answer is to limit how many players of a certain caliber users are allowed to target In other words, your commish could allow you to sign as many 3 star guys as you could possibly want but you can only target say 10 four star or higher guys, whether you sign 9 or 2.... Hard to say for sure until we have the game in hand, but that seems to be more feasible
