In what almost turned out to be a miraculous comeback, B.C. just wasn't able to muster enough in a close 31-28 defeat to V.T. The Eagles offense put the team behind the eight-ball from the start with turnovers on their first 2 possessions leading to quick 10-0 lead for the Hokies. With the early lead the hokies were able to play the game at their pace and build up a 24-7 halftime lead. The closest the Eagles would come was in the final minutes of the game when they pulled to within 3 poitns but never got the ball back as the Hokies were able to complete a 3rd down pass attempt and seal the game with a few kneel downs. It was the most atypical game for the Eagles yet this year as they managed only 14 true rushing attempts compared to 35 pass attempts. Meanwhile, QB Josh Bornder has probably played well enough over the past 4 games to keep the starting job even when incumbent Chase Rettig returns, most likely for the Eagles next game.
