It was a game the Philadelphia Eagles needed, and a game Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will hope to soon forget. The Eagles came into this season with a handful of games circled on their calendar, and this was the first of that bunch that they soon face. The game started with Rodgers and company getting the ball first and masterfully creating an opening drive, in which he completed his first 6 passes. They would score first and take an early 7-0 lead. That would last all of about 5 seconds, or however long it takes Desean Jackson to run down the field. Jackson, who is now on pace to smash the league's season kick return record, took the kick all the way to the house to even things up at 7. On their next drive, the Eagles knew they had to do something to slow down Rodgers. They masked a blitz and LB Mychal Kendricks dropped back and picked Rodgers off. This is where the game started to get a little crazy. The Eagles would march down to the Packers 1 yard only to get stuffed 3 straight times. On 4th down Coach Lazaroe kept his offense on the field, in what appeared to be only an attempt to draw the Pack offsides. When two linemen jumped, however; QB R. Tannehill called the play and the handoff to McCoy would again get stuffed. Unfortunately for Tannehill, the refs would throw no flag on the play. After the game Tannehill had this to say, "Yea you know, I probably should have never hiked that ball. But when you see two linemen seemingly jump, it's instinct to call the snap. Looking back on it I shouldn't have put the call in the refs hands and we should've just taken the 3 points like coach wanted". That decision wouldn't really end up hurting the Eagles though. After completing a 1st down pass, Rodgers would drop back and go deep. That would end up being his second pick of the game when FS N. Asomugha got under the ball and picked it off. That would lead to a TD by the Eagles and a 14-7 lead. Philly would pick Rodgers off two more times in this game, and leave him scratching his head after the game. A perrenial all-pro QB, Rodgers is having a down year thus far for his standards. He ended this game 17/26 for 377 yards, 5 TD's and 4 INT's. WR Stephen Ambar was on the other end of 5 of those receptions. He found the endzone twice and racked up 138 yards receiving. The flip side to the passing game, the run game. And the Eagles won that battle holding Green Bay to a mere 23 yards on the day, while they racked up 108 yards. The Pack would show no quit and fight to the end, but the Eagles escaped this key match-up 37-35.

    Key Stats:

Philadelphia only allows 23 yards on the ground.
Philadelphia wins the turnover battle, +3.

    Next Up:

The Eagles (5-1) will travel to San Francisco (4-1) to take on the 49ers. San Fran is another game that the Eagles staff had circled on their calendar. It should be a great duel out west when these two ball clubs meet. The Packers (4-1) will host the struggling Atlanta Falcons (1-3). The Falcons will be a hungry bunch with their backs against the wall, and it will be interesting to see how the Packers bounce back from a rare loss this early in the season.

gg redlishus ... good luck this season
