My, my, my. What an embarrassing game for the Philadelphia Eagles. They got worked in every aspect of the ball game. Pass defense, rush defense, their passing game, and their running game. A horrendous showing by the Eagles, and somehow they manage to come away with the victory. That somehow, however; today had a name. And it's name was Desean Jackson... The first quarter opened very mundane. Not a lot of excitement on either side of the ball. The lone action started when Dominique Rogers-Cromartie picked off a short Blaine Gabbert pass inside Jaguars territory. Eagles QB Ryan Tannehill would then find a streak Desean Jackson, who made a spectacular catch, only to fall 1 yard short of the goal line. The Jaguars D would come up big and hold the Eagles to the 1st quarter only points by way of a field goal. 3-0 Eagles after 1. From there, it was a barn burner. Early in the 2nd quarter RB MJD would find pay dirt from 19 yards out to give the Jaguars the lead at 7-3. On the ensuing kickoff, as he did in the previous week, return man Desean Jackson scampered 102 yards and put the Eagles back on top 10-3. The Jaguars would then go on to score 14 unanswered points and take a nice lead into halftime 24-10. One of the TD's came again by the feet of MJD, who torched the Eagle defense all game long. He carried the ball 25 times for 115 yards and 2 TDs. As the 2nd half began, Jackson knew he had to create lightning once more to get his team quickly back into things. And that he did. Jackson took the opening kick 101 yards and quickly closed the gap to 24-17. After a quick Jaguars 3 and out, Eagles RB Lesean McCoy would finally have his name mentioned this year. He took a handoff 53 yards and found the endzone. That tied this ball game up at 24-24. Late in the quarter kicker Josh Scobee would tack on 3 points to put the Jags up 27-24. However; they wouldn't make it out of the quarter with that lead. Why? Because Desean Jackson had other things on his mind. On that ensuing kickoff, Jackson would go, yes you guessed it, 92 yards to the house! The Eagles had somehow regained the lead after being straight worked for three quarters. Desean Jackson was a determined man, and his play today proves why he is the most dangerous weapon when he's on the field. From there, Philly's offense would finally get going in the 4th quarter. Jeremy Maclin caught 2 TD passes from Tannehill, one from 35 yards out and the other from 44 yards. The Jaguars would have a late push, but a failed onside kick would give the Eagles this victory. Eagles escape Jacksonville, 45-40. Stats of the Game: The Jaguars gained 515 yards of total offense. The Eagles, 209. The Jaguars gained 24 first downs. The Eagles, 6. The Jaguars were 10-16 on third down attempts. The Eagles, 1-5. The Jaguars time of possession 19:43. The Eagles, 8:17. Clearly the Eagles were not meant to win this game other than the will of one man; Desean Jackson! Player of the Game: WR/KR Desean Jackson - 2 catches, 46 yards...6 kick returns, 386 yards, 64.3 yrd average, 3 TDs gg dmass ... you deserved this one for sure. good luck this season. glad i don't have to see MJD anymore!
