NYC, NY - The Eagles were looking to extend their winning streak to 7 games as they headed to NY to take on the Giants. The Giants were looking to take possession of first place in the NFC East with a win. In a black and blue brawl fest, it was the Eagles who outlasted the Giants to win 23-20. Bram Greenlea would lead the Eagles on a huge final possession drive where he would hit Jarius Wright for a 7 yard touchdown pass and an exciting come from behind win. The usually reliable running game for the Eagles was stymied by the tough Giants Defense. While McCoy rushed for nearly 100 yards, but nearly half the yards came on one long run. As been the case for the Eagles, the defense was the difference. A couple of interceptions in the first half helped build a 2 possession lead and set the tone for the game. The Eagles would have some success with moving the ball early but the Giants would thwart most of them wiht some timely and hits short of the first down. The Eagles would take advantage of turnovers though. Brandon Boykin would step in front of a Nassib pass to set the Eagles up in good field position. Later in the second quarter, Johnathon Cyprien would pick off his 5th ball of the season. The interception was his last play for the game as he received a concussion during the play and would not return. The Giants would cut the lead to 3 when Nassib would steer a ball between triple coverage to Eric Decker, a poor angle taken by backup Walter Koffa would send Decker to the endzone and immediately put pressure back on the Eagles offense. Neither team was able to move the ball consistently during the rest of the game. Greenlea would try to answer the touchdown by the Giants and made his first mistake of the game. CB Cecil Spence would bait Greenlea into a throw and easily intercepted it. The Giants went to work and would take their first lead of the game when LaGarrette Blount was actually stripped at the goaline. The ball was recovered by the Giants OL in the endzone though. That touchdown would set up the heroics by the Eagles. Greenlea didnt appear to be frazzled and immediately went to work. A couple of first downs followed by stopped clocks allowed the Eagles to move down the field preserving some time. Greenlea's biggest play was a pass to Ricardo Lockette who was able to break a tackle and nearly outran the defense for the go ahead touchdown. The big play set the Eagles up in the redzone with less than a minute remaining. A couple of run plays got the Eagles 3rd and 3 with time ticking. Thats when Greenlea would hit Wright between the zones for the go ahead touchdown with only 10 seconds remaining. Good game James. Always like our games. Especially when I win. LOL.
