NAVY MIDSHIPMEN AT AIR FORCE FALCONS
Battle for the Commander in Chief Trophy

    Records:
    Air Force: 8-2
    Navy: 4-6

    Last Game:
Air Force at Colorado State: W 34-0
    Navy at Temple: L 13-20

This week Air Force strives to gain position as front runner in the Mountain West Conference. After totally dominating conference leader, the Colorado State Rams, the 7-2 Air Force Falcons square off with Navy to battle for the "Commander in Chief" Trophy.

Navy is the current holder of the Trophy but Air Force leads the battle by 16 wins.

    Expert Picks:
    Corso: Air Force
    Herbstreit: Navy

    Prediction:

The Falcons have managed to solidify their gameplan this season, proving that they are in command of their own season. With 3 games left in the season they will do whatever it takes to become a Conference Championship contender.

    Air Force improves to 8-2

    Air Force: 24
    Navy: 7

    Battle of Idaho

IDAHO VANDALS @ #4 BOISE STATE BRONCOS
    THE BATTLE OF IDAHO
    Quest for the Governor's Cup

    [IMG][IMG]

    Record:
    Idaho: 7-4
    #4 Boise State: 8-1

Idaho is having a stellar season, proving to be a competitor in the Western Athletic Conference. If they want to compete in this game they will have to contain Broncos skilled players, namely Heisman hopeful, standout Quarterback Sophomore Kellen Moore. The crafty lefty looks to shoot down he Vandals defense this weekend on the "smurf turf."

Last years battle resulted in a 45-10 win for Boise State in the Kibbie Dome. Boise States offensive attack was led by Jeremy Avery who rushed for 156 yards on 11 carries and Kellen Moore throwing for 210 yards on 23 completions with 31 attempts.

    Expert Picks:

    Corso: Boise State
    Herbstreit: Boise State

    Prediction:
Bronco Stadium is by far the toughest place to play in the Northwest. Coming in and upsetting the Broncos at Bronco Stadium on the smurf turf may be a difficult task for the Vandals. The Broncos will take the Vandals softly in the first half and go into the locker room down but will regain composure the second half.

Broncos defend their home turf with a 28 to 17 win over in-state rival Idaho.

    GAME OF THE WEEK

    MEMPHIS TIGERS AT HOUSTON COUGARS

    [IMG][IMG]

    RECORD
    Houston: 6-4
    Memphis: 7-3

Memphis is currently leading the Conference USA East by one game over ECU with a little help from MAC East team Buffalo. In order for Memphis to get to the title game and play #16 Tulane, they must secure conference wins against Houston and Tulsa.

Houston was a early season favorite to contend in the CONFUSA but after a average season they look to become bowl eligible. With 6 wins they qualify for a bowl but in order to get off the "bubble" the must defeat Memphis or Rice in the remaining two weeks of the season.

    EXPERT PICKS
    Corso: Memphis
    Herbstreit: Houston

    KEY PLAYERS

Houston: RSJR Case Keenum 162-315 for 2375 with 18 TDs on the year

Memphis: RSSR Arkelon Hall 153-253 for 2645 yards with 26 TD's on the year

    PREDICTION
This will be a superb matchup between two talented Quarterbacks. Look for the Tigers to shut down Keenum and force Houston to do it on the ground. Tigers win it in a close won...

    Memphis: 24
    Houston: 21

GAMES OF THE WEEKS ARE HERE!

Ok guys I am changing the format a little bit for games of the week from now on. Last year I did basically a prequel to a game that I thought would be worthy..... From now on I will be looking back after the week is over to give an in depth report for the "Game of the Week." This will most likely be synonymous with the "Coach of the Week." Check back here later for an update on Week 1 GOW!

#22 LOUISIANA STATE TIGERS VS. #24 TULANE GREEN WAVE
at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, NO

The walls of the house known as "College Football" were shook as the #24 Tulane Green Wave washed away the #22 Louisiana State Tigers at Tulane Stadium. On paper the teams seemed a bit of a mismatch, but this in-state rivalry means much more than any numbers on a sheet of paper. For years Tulane being the butt end of the joke, took it to the Tigers early scoring 3 minutes in the first quarter by way of a 5 yard run by Stephen Barnett. The crowd was roaring, chanting "Overrated" as veteran Tiger Quarterback Jordan Jefferson sat under center.

Tulane forced a few punts with some good defense and then struck again 3 seconds into the second quarter via another Barnett rushing touchdown. A quick turnover led to a quick hit pass for 38 yards from Kevin Moore to Antoine Duplessis putting the Green Wave up 21-0. The Tigers down but not out answered with a few ticks on the clock before half, with a 30 yard run by Richard Murphy.

Halftime. 2009 Coach of the Year Onradio tells his boys this game is theirs. Simple as that. Play resumes in the third as LSU counters quickly scoring 14 unanswered points bringing the score to 21-21 at the end of the third quarter. Who wants it more? This question is circling through the heads of all the players and coaches on the field. This game may dictate the direction for the remainder of the season.

Tulane drives down the field and scores on a 1 yard run by Antoine Duplessis. It's now up to the Tigers. With 5 minutes remaining on the clock they step onto the field. Tulane shuts them down and regains possession. Now its time to chew the clock. The consume almost the remaining ticks on the clock, with Barnett scoring his third rushing TD of the game with 1 minute and 30 seconds remaining. The score is now 35-21.

LSU fields the kick and is stopped on the 22 yard line. With 1:14 left on the clock and down by two scores the Tigers need to score quickly to even have a chance at winning. Then it happens, BOOM! Terrance Toliver gets a 78 yard pass from Jefferson to put 6 and then eventually 7 on the board.

The crowd is now louder than ever. Everyone in the stadium knows whats coming, there is no secret. But can they do it? Tulane brings out the hands team. The crowd is almost as nervous as the players needing to sit on this kick to prevail in one of the biggest rivalry upsets in the history of college football.

Here comes the kick..... TULANE RECOVERS. BALL GAME!

Tulane comes away with a huge upset proving that Coach Onradio and the Tulane Green Wave are no joke. They improve to 1-0.

    PLAYERS OF THE GAME

    Tulane

    SO HB #36 Stephen Barnett 30 carries for 155 yards 3 TD's

RSSR QB #2 Kevin Moore 23-30 314 yards passing 1 TD

    LSU

    JR QB #9 Jordan Jefferson 18-33 368 yards passing 3 TD's
