    Season Preview
The Canes are coming off a 2016 national championship over their in-state rivals, the Gators, and are looking to repeat. Miami was hit hard by the draft, losing most of their top wide outs and corners so they will have some areas of concern heading into this season. Despite that, this might be an even better and more balanced team than last year.

It starts up front. Last year's area of concern, the OL and DL, are turning into a strength. The sophomores and juniors are now juniors and seniors and all reports have indicate that both groups have shown much improvement during the off-season.

Running behind the revamped OL are Corn Elder and Scott Mitchell, who might make up the fastest RB tandem in the country. And last but not least, it doesn't hurt that their Heisman finalist QB (John Keller) come back for his senior year.

The defense will have some new faces at corner this season. Fortunately for them, Miami returns a speedy front 7 that has proven it can rush the passer as well as some elite safeties to help keep opposing QBs in check.

They'll need everybody to step up this year as they are scheduled to play 5 teams that are pre-season ranked in the top 10 in the first year of the new SEC conference. Follow the schedule below to track the Cane's progress...

    #1 Miami @ #3 Michigan
The last time the two UMs faced off, it was for a national title. This time around may not have been for a national title, but come the end of the season, it may as well have been. Michigan may have come out feeling a little nervous as they had a case of the drops early both on offense and defense. Doing his best Russel Wilson impression, John Keller was forced to create plays using his feet several times as Michigan's beastly defensive front seven collapsed the pocket. Without his escapability, The Miami offense might not have moved past mid-field once as it seemed like Michigan's front seven was in the backfield instantly when Miami would try to run the ball.

Defensively, Miami did what it could to try to limit Michigan's running game. If the Canes were going to pull out a victory, they would have to force Michigan to the air. And the Miami DBs, who have had a major case of stone hands all season, finally came through. Between them they managed 5 interceptions, 3 of them coming from the Cane's elite trio of safeties.

This win puts the Canes at 6-0 and in the drivers seat to get to the SEC championship game, and possibly another national title appearance.
