Fulham made their Serie A debut and it turned out to be a lackluster affair. LOSC Lille brought a top notch defensive game and both keepers made the saves that they are supposed to, as well as some beauties. Both clubs were plagued by poor shooting and only five shots made it on target all match.

Fulham has found the win column in it's first season in Serie A and it only took until the second match. Mark Schwarzer recorded his second clean sheet in as many matches and Fulham received tallies from Bobby Zamora and Dickson Etuhu. Zamora received his own rebound with the keeper still down and put it in with the outside of his right foot to give the Cottagers their first goal of the season. Late in the game, Etuhu buried a beauty to the top right corner that bounced in off of the crossbar from about 25 yards out (Unfortunately, Etuhu's strike did not make the video cut). Fulham will take on Everton in Goodison Park in the next match of their young season.

Lazio brought everything they had today offensively. Fortunately for Fulham, the shots weren't going into net. Lazio finished the day with 22 shots to Fulham's 8. Both teams were able to find the back of the net, though and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Fulham got on the board first when Aaron Hughes headed a corner across goal and in. Just 11 minutes later, Lazio drew even on a free kick by Hernanes from just outside of the 18.

New Formation Provides Much Needed Lift For Hamburger SV

After a slow start to the season, something needed to change in Hamburg. Their manager recently announced the transition to a 4-2-2-2 formation to break some of the bad habits that began, and after the club's match against Fulham, it's hard to not like Hamburg 2.0. Within the first 24 minutes, Hamburg held a 3-0 lead with a different player netting each goal. Add in a late goal in the 88th minute, and Hamburg clearly displayed a strong attack. 3 of the 4 goals were set up by beautiful assists, and the team displayed great overall chemistry from front to back. One man perhaps most affected by the change, midfielder Eljero Elia, turned in a man of the match performance. He started the scoring in the 9th minute and later added 2 assists to his stat line. On defense, Ze Roberto complimented David Jarolim well, as the defense's lone goal allowed came off of one of Fulham's 5 corners. It appears that Hamburg may finally hitting their stride, and they will have a chance to continue their form next week against two English sides, Birmingham and Bolton.

Fulham were finally able to get back into the win column tonight, for just the second time this season, against Birmingham City. Bobby Zamora blasted a header into the net just three minutes into the match to put Fulham up early and for good. Birmingham had ample opportunities, most notably a ringer off of the far post by Nikola Zigic. Mark Schwarzer didn't need help from the post after that as he recorded his third clean sheet of the season.

Tonight's first round match-up in the TFL Cup pitted Serie A newcomers Fulham against Serie B side Napoli. Fulham got of to a quick start when Clint Dempsey bang one in from distance in only the 16th minute. After that, play went back in forth with no progress until Edinson Cavani equalized for Napoli. That would be all of the action for the game and this first round match-up will head to Craven Cottage to determine a winner.

The second leg of the first round match-up between Fulham and Napoli started much like the first leg with Fulham jumping out to an early lead. This time, though, Fulham snatched two goals within the first 15 minutes and appeared to be sitting very pretty. All of that changed in the 37th minute when Ezequiel Lavezzi worked his way into the Fulham box and put one passed Mark Schwarzer to bring Napoli within one. After the Lavezzi goal, Napoli had the momentum and soon equalized in the 55th minute off of the foot of Edinson Cavani. With the competition heating up the game seemed destined to go to extra time, but Fulham striker Bobby Zamora was not interested in that. He received a pass from Clint Dempsey and muscled his way towards goal to place the ball easily into the left side of the net in the 89th minute; sending Fulham on to the second round in the process.

Fulham are back in the win column in what has been a disappointing start to their first season in Serie A. They overcame a solid defensive effort from Palermo to secure the win in the 82nd minute with a header from Bobby Zamora. Mark Schwarzer had the clean sheet; his fourth of the year.

Fulham played host to Athletic Club today in a match that started as a blowout and ended up being quite the affair. Fulham jumped on the scoreboard early when Bobby Zamora netted a corner in the 8th minute of play. Fulham were still feeling the excitement of the early goal when Fernando Llorente answered just two minutes later. Seven more minutes later would see Llorente bag his second of three to give Bilbao their first lead. After a goal from Toquero and Llorente's third, things were looking bleak for Fulham. That is, until Bobby Zamora found twine for the second time late in the 76th minute. After quickly getting the ball back, Fulham scored again just one minute later off of the head of Clint Dempsey. Suddenly we had a match again. Then the unthinkable happened in the 85th minute when Dempsey used his head again to equalize in what was an amazing comeback.

Van Nistelrooy's Goal Enough For Hamburg Win In Game With Little Offense

With Fulham looking for revenge after Hamburg took the first match 4-1 earlier in the season, the German side instead took the victory once again. The game had little offense to show, as the teams amassed just 1 shot in the first half. Ruud Van Nistelrooy was able to beat out the defense and score a goal in the 64th minute, while the Hamburg defense managed to pitch a shutout. With the victory, Hamburg now has more wins than losses or draws. The team will hope to close the season on a high note, with 4 games remaining on their schedule.
