    Key Players for Season 5
    ST - Vagner Love #99 - 81 Overall
    [IMG]
Very good finisher who is a bull in the China shop in tight spaces. While he doesn't have great pace out in the open field, he will team with Ronaldinho to create havoc in the offensive third of the field for Flamengo.
    CAM - Ronaldinho #10 - 84 Overall
    [IMG]
Flamengo skipper and former Barcelona and Milan great. Best days are definitely behind him, but he is still a stalwart with the ball with dribbling skills second to none. The offensive third of the pitch will run through Ronaldinho. He is a great passer and has great one touch ability as well as well as being the key penalty, corner, and free kick taker on the club.
    GK - Felipe #1 - 78 Overall
    [IMG]
Young keeper with great size, reactions, reflexes, and diving ability. With the run and gun style that the new Flamengo manager plans to play with, Felipe will need to come up with big saves on outnumbered counter-attacks.
    CDM - Williams (not Willians) #8 - 76 Overall
    [IMG]
Up and coming holding midfielder with great stamina and tackling ability. He will key the counter - attack style that the new manager will base the temp of play off of.

Flamengo holds on to defeat Parma 3-2 to close out Week 1
Flamengo faced Parma in it's first road contest of Season 5. The Brazilian clubs play in its first two games was very different from its showing against Athletic versus that of LA Galaxy, and it proved to show its new Serie C brother n who the real Slim Shady was (even though they hate Shady, but a story for another day). The first half was all Flamengo, scoring 3 goals in the first 23 minutes of play. Parma's quick strike attack and on the ball aggression by their midfield really played into Flamengo's hands. But then something happened in the 2nd half as the Flamengo manager pulled his two speedy wingers in favor of a possesion style game to kill the clock in the 2nd half. But after an anger outburst but Santacroce and Johnathan that found them in the referee's book Parma, really caught fire. Giovinco was able to unlock the Flamengo counter attack and put the pressure on leading to a couple of late goals and almost 2 more if it weren't for the man of the match performance put in by Flamengo keeper Felipe.
Flamengo learned something in this game; do not make Ronaldinho your target man. Holy shit was he terrible in the second half missing the next at least four times after being left wide open. The man knows how to move the ball and he knows how to grow out his hair, but modern dentistry and scoring really is not his thing. Good luck Drunken Soldier, great 2nd half, look forward to playing again.

Robbie Keane's goal across the box at the 38' mark was the only thing that added much separation in this match against two teams that really like to run a lot. Galaxy dominated on most of the offensive chances though holding the ball at an equal ammount to Flamengo. Multiple missed headers and volleys by Vagner Love and Ronaldinho really plagued Flamengo late in this game. Poor play at the back by the Flamengo CBs didn't help much either. Galaxy really made their presence felt on the wings between Beckham and Donovan putting balls into the box to LA Big Man Buddle. If Flamengo are to improve early on in the S5 campaign it is going to have to start from the back going forward.

Flamengo's first ever game in Serie C was one to remember as wins weren't exactly easy to come by in Serie B. Forced to adjust to his teams abilities, Flamengo played a quick paced counter attack style that really didn't bear fruit at first against Athletic's heavy pressured attack in Flamengo's defensive third as the match went to the half 0-0. But Flamengo added a bit more offensive ability through substitutions and began to pass around the aggressive Athletic players first paying off with a goal by Ronaldinho, then by substitute Deivid in extra time. GG Danwin, look forward to our next match. Closer than the score.

    FC KOBENHAVN VS FLAMENGO
Flamengo falls once again away from home
    [IMG]
High tempo match between Kobenhavn and Flamengo on a Saturday between two clubs in the middle of the Serie C table. Early on FC Kobenhavn tried to inflict their will on their home pitch and the ref made them pay with Bolanos entering the book just 2' into the contest. Things cooled off as both teams felt each other out with Kobenhavn connecting on shot after shot to no avail on the Brazilian net with Felipe really holding his own. But as time went on, being outshot 3-to-1, Flamengo finally came up short as Claudemir found Santin at the 73' mark for the only goal of the game. Flamengo is really going to have to figure out a way to win on the road if they have any chance to return to their former home in Serie B.

FLAMENGO holds on late to defeat the Hammers
    [IMG]
After a dissapointing defeat at the hands of Kobenhaven earlier in the day, Flamengo visited the Hammers in a late night Saturday (drunk as shit) showdown. Early on it was all about missed opportunities as West Ham got in deep in their offensive third creating quality chances that were only turned back by 3 tough off side calls. For Flamengo it was much of the same, opportunities in their opponents 18 yard box, but nothing to show for it. At the break Flamengo changed its lineup around and inserted target man Deivid into the lineup and moved Vagner Love out wide and the change paid off. Leo Moura, the goat of the Kobenhaven match came up big on a long run down the wing finding the big forward on a short lob header for the only goal of the match.

This was a game dominated by midfield play. Athletic really did a fantastic job of closing off any fast pass / quick play momentum that Flamengo could build up. Flamengo tried to build from the middle into the final third with Ronaldino, Williams, and Luis Antonio all holding the ball a ton. But after a couple of close missing off the head and foot of Llorente (criminal watching what that big dude can do to my Brazilian Twinks at CB!!!!) Flamengo was finally able to push ahead off the play of their skipper. Ronaldinho was able to capitalize after being taken down on a break late in the game inside the 18 yard box to make the score unrepresentative of the actual match. Flamengo and Athletic Club are reallyhttp://forums.traditionsportsonline.com/threads/flamengo.75234/ starting to develop a solid rivalry after two games of play, one in league, one in this tourney. Great game Dan, no doubt you'll probably own my ass in the next two games. Good luck the rest of the tourney. ***did not drink during this game for those who feel I am an alcoholic :) ****

I knew this would happen sooner or later. Left my backup keeper in my lineup, playing CAM. He pulls a header out of his ass before the half and actually scored! Wow. See saw match, Vegas really put the screws to me in the second half and had half a dozen chances to tie and win this one but hit the woodwork on more than one occasion. I have played 3 straight games in the last hour and a half. GASSED and drinking like a fish... GG Vegas!

Season 5 Comes to an end for Flamengo
    [IMG]
There was much hope coming into Season 5 of Serie C season for new club manager Go Devils. Coming off a relegation Season 5 with Stoke City, the Flamengo fans had high expectations of a manager who had somehow been able to keep his head above water in the higher league, where promotion dreams seemed more expectation than hope early on.
But upstart teams like Anderlecht, Parma, and Wolfsburg threw a monkey wrench in those plans from the get go. Stars like Ronaldinho and Vagner Love surely made their mark on the rest of the league, with Ronaldinho finishing 4th in assists, but in the end it just wasn't enough.
The club had its chances to make it interesting at the top but squandered 9-12 points in matches it surely could have dominated, only to see a final standing of 6th place the true reality of where potential meets the actual. Only a last second win against Aston Villa in the Coppa qualifying round gave Flamengo fans any hope that this team might once again reach new titles.
As a result of attaining only 7 wins and 23 points in 17 games, Go Devils was shown the door early this morning. He quickly picked up a new job managing Calgiari Calcio, while Flamengo will now be run by CxMacx10.
