Santos FC was able to finally get their first win of the season, and boy was it a beauty. Following a disappointing loss in matchday 5 against Newcastle, Santos came out angry and determined to win. The offense was able to finally finish up plays and put the ball in the back of the net in 4 out of the 9 chances they had. The game was totally dominated by Santos, as the possession percentage shows, (although Santos has won the possession % battle in ALL of their previous games, only to end up losing 2 and tying 2.) This game also marked the first clean sheet by Rafael and this entire defense.Santos FC will look forward to the final game of this match week against Fiorentina and will be preparing to the fullest to get that precious second win.gg County5 and good luck the rest of the way.

END OF WEEK REPORT
Week 2 was a more or less successful week for Santos because they were able to get their first 2 wins of the season, however, Coach Roger wasn't impressed because those two wins were against teams currently located at the bottom of the table (with 0 points combined as of right now.) Still, Coach Roger seems optimistic that they can compete and win games against the big dogs of this Serie B and are anxious to show it.
Santos will continue their home stand during MatchWeek 3 and play against Besiktas, Werder Bremen, and Spartak Moscow with high hopes of getting all 9 points and improve on their league standing.

Neymar ('66)Clean Sheet: Rafael
Both teams came out on the field determined not to let the other team score, both showed great defensive skills. The first and only goal of the game would come after Elano broke away from two defenders in the 66th minute and then finished it by giving Neymar a great pass inside the box who only had to give the ball another small touch to put it inside the net. With the lead, Santos' priority from then on was to maintain possession of the ball and kill time to come out with the win. All was going according to plan until a Besiktas player shot a lazer just outside the box after a corner kick clear, thankfully, Edu Dracena was able to save that shot with his chest right at the goal line. This game could've easily ended up in a tie if it wasn't for that great save.
Great game BESHIKTAS. I knew this was going to be a tough one knowing you from Season 1. Good luck the rest of the way.

Another dissapointing result for Santos FC, a tie that leaves them a sour taste in the mouth. In the first half it was Santos who offered the most offensive threads, but only had a goal to show for by Arouca on a header from a Neymar pass. The second half it was a different story as Spartak Moscowwere able to have more possession of the ball and controled the tempo to their liking. Whatever their coach said during half time paid off in the '62 minute as Welliton was able to get wide open inside the box and then went on to finish it like the pro he is with a beautiful cornered shot. After the equalizer both teams tried to score the go ahead goal but weren't able to despite a fair amount of chances created by both sides.
Santos FC will now rest for 6 days straight before starting a 3 game stretch playing away from home. There has already been scheduled a couple of friendlies during these off days which would help them get better before they have to face two of the toughest teams this year in Serie B, Udinese and Napoli.
Santos FC will start season 3 against all three of the EPL teams represented in Serie B: Wolves, Stoke City, and Bolton. Coach Roger is looking forward to start this new season strong and silence all the doubters and all those who underestimate this team.
If coach Roger isn't able to obtain promotion at the end of the season it's been rumored that this may be his last season as Santos manager. Fans are getting tired of having a middle table team and want Santos to start contending. The first week of the season will determine if Santos FC is either a contender or, once again, a middle of the table team

K. Henry-Taken out of the game in the second half for some reason
Great inaugural game of this year's Serie B. A match-up against two solid teams on defense. The game was a back and forth contest where both teams had scoring chances and there wasn't a real dominant of the ball. The first goal would come in the 34' minute on a rebound from Wolves goalie that ended on Neymar's feet who was able to put it inside the net after two tries. The tie would come in the second half on a shot from, man of the match, K. Henry. The rest of the game would be a nail bitter as Santos would hit at least one shot on Wolve's post and a couple of one-on-one situations would be denied by Wolves' keeper. The tie was almost a done deal, but on the 90' minute, Elano would start a counter attack from the middle who crossed it wide to Ibson (2nd half sub) who quickly passed it to Borges (newly aquired this season) in front of the goal. Ibson would finish it with a beautiful one touch for the 2-1 lead.
Highlight of the 90th minute goal. I saved all 3 goals, but on EA's website all three of the highlights were of the same replay. Weird that it also only saved 3 seconds.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------Highlighs coming later today------------------------------------------------------------------------Another game for Santos that looked like it was going to end in a tie, but ultimately was able to pull off the win in the final minutes of the game. Borges played lights out the whole game. He had 6 shots on goal and was able to convert two. The first goal was after a pass from Arouca inside the box which opened up the score. After the first half, Stoke City made some adjustments during half time and came out with a more offensive formation. This new formation would pay off as K. Jones would put the equalizer in the 57' minute off a cross from the left side of the field. The game would then go into a back and forth battle in the middle of the field with nothing to show for as far as chances for either team. It wasn't 'till the 85' minute when Borges would take advantage of a poor clear by Stoke City and after easily getting passed a defender he would seal the deal and give Santos its second win of this young Serie B season. Both teams played well and the score could have gone either way.

Udinese starts off tournament play with a big win in the first round over Santos. A closely contested game started out slow with each team generating some chances, but going into halftime with a 0-0 score. The second half would prove to be very different from the first, as Antonio Di Natale opened the scoring early by beating the Santos keeper to a ball headed backwards and slotting it past him into the goal. Santos would tie it up on a nice shot from Leo into the top corner. In the 81st minute, substitute Almen Abdi would score to give the lead back to Udinese, followed shortly by another in the 84th to put Udinese on top for good. Santos would get one more back before the end of the game but Udinese took the game with a 3-2 score.
Good game Roger and good luck in the rest of the tournament
