A comfortable game for the Swedes that was only made difficult by their own mistakes. Numerous chances were wasted in the first 30 minutes, and it looked like nothing was going right in the first half until stoppage time, when Sweden finally broke through. More of the same in the 2nd 45, with Netherlands keeping the ball out of the net and keeping the scoreline tight until Zlatan chipped a beautiful through ball that spring Wernbloom, who finally finished one of his chances. A 90th minute breakaway with the Dutch pressing finished off the scoring, but not before a ridiculously soft, unnecessary yellow card was given to Mr. Zlatan for the lightest of shirt pulls seconds before the final whistle. MOTM: Italy GK Buffon

The Italians were almost caught napping as Belgium rushed into the zone with first possession and crossed it into the box. The close range header was met by a lunging Buffon. At the 25' minute mark, Totti saved the ball from going out and drew defenders out of position before crossing into the box which was met by an open Balotelli header. Italy would get lucky 15' minutes later, probably due to the rain, as Chiellini knocked the ball up to Totti, who then turned and shot the ball from nowheresville, looked like it was going just wide but instead hits the post and goes in past a diving keeper. Sau would put the game out of reach in the 75th minute with a solo effort as if he was trying to make a statement to earn a full time starting spot.

Poland Strikes 3 Times In Final 30 Minutes To Seal Comeback Win
In the battle between border rivals Germany and Poland, it was ultimately Germany who struck first. Mario Gomez took a shot from the top of the box, and following a deflection off of a Polish defender, the ball rolled into the net as Poland GK Szczesny had already dove the other way. Germany went into the half with the 1-0 lead, while Poland was struggling to find any offense. "With a defensive setup of Lahm at CDM and Schweinsteiger at CAM, they really stifled us in the middle," said Coach Bronc. "We couldn't string together passes or find any openings in the final third with our preferred 4-2-3-1, so we had to make some tactical changes before it was too late." Minutes into the second half, Poland subbed in striker Artur Sobiech for LM Maciej Rybus as Poland shifted to a 4-2-2-2, looking to bypass the crowded center. After that switch, Poland went on to score a pair of goals to take the lead. "Our formation change allowed our offense to play much more fluid, as we were no longer being forced to pass it in to Obraniak or Lewandowski in the middle of the pitch with a half-dozen Germans on them," said Coach Bronc. "We began to have many more passing options on the outside, and it helped spur our comeback." In the 90th minute, Eugen Polanski added a goal to seal the victory for Poland. Ludovic Obraniak earned MOTM honors with a goal and an assist, as his performance flourished when he was pushed outside to LAM in the 4-2-2-2. When asked if this would signal a permanent change for Poland's lineup, Coach Bronc replied, "I think it would be foolish to switch our entire setup based on 30 minutes of play. It's nice to know we can be successful with that formation, but the reason we were forced into that change was due to Germany's stellar defensive effort the first 60 minutes. We simply had to make an adjustment, and fortunately it paid off." With the win, Poland remains in sole possession of first place atop Europe's Group A qualification group with 6 points through 2 games. A match in Spain will be next on the Poland calendar, the last of three consecutive qualifiers against five-star caliber teams.

gg BESHIKTAS - France scores three times against a very physical, tough Turkey squad. France had it going offensively scoring off of quick passing and could have had more if not for brilliant saves by Turkey and the post saving another. GL the rest of the way!
