(F14) League Discussion

To be fair I'm not the biggest US fan. I always root for Guate in the Concacaf. Sadly we may never make a World Cup. So I root for Brazil and the past few years Spain (felt some weird attachment from studying there) and France (j'eu une relation aver une dame française). Also not the biggest Jurgen fan, guy has been a failure everywhere he has gone. I'm rooting for the US to get out the group alongside Ghana, but I'm rooting for Ghana to make Jurgen cry after match 1. You don't take Green, a guy who plays in division 15 in Germany, over Donovan. The game against Mexico we saw why he's in division 4 and not a reserve in the Bundesliga. Guy made a bunch of mistakes and a bunch of no-nos in football 101. Look at Mexico's 2nd goal, you never ever ever head the ball like he did. You don't walz alongside your opponent like that and you must follow your man, must. There's the vid below which illustrates my hatred towards the kid who looked awful against Mexico's B team. Also I know he probably won't get a minute, unless the US loses the first two games and is automatically out. Which I guess is plausible. And yeah yeah kid is 18, but he's a professional.

They are lacking skill but Italy lacks skill every 4 years. But they play like a team and always have good center backs. USA does not have good center backs (sorry guys they don't) , they just have a solid middle of the park.

He is fantastic on set pieces. You gotta have that guy ... someone creative with this team. Someone more than Zusi Especially with Altidore finishing or not finishing up front

All comes down to playing good at the back with Juve defenders and Pirlo providing good service to Balotelli and the new found wingers. If that don't work it's back to the old play of bottling it up and going with Pirlo on set pieces. We shall see.

First off, saying JK has failed everywhere ignores his successes as a player and bringing a vastly underrated Germany to extra time of the semis against the eventual champs in 2006, and the most successful 13 months in US Soccer history. He didn't suddenly wake up and say "fuck it, we're screwed either way, who cares." And even though he wasn't a part of it per se, look at Germany's 2010 team. Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira, Jerome Boateng, Manuel Neuer, Holger Badstuber... all named to the team with no more than 5 caps to their name. It's not unheard of. It's that "best 23" versus "preferred 23" argument.

And Julian Green was always making it, he's not the one taking Donovan's spot. I'm a little more surprised taking Brad Davis over Landycakes, but as soon as JK listed Landon as a forward, it was clear LD was gonna have a tough time making it. Altidore, Dempsey, Aron Johanson, Wondolowski have all shown more as "forwards" lately. So yea, those guys are ahead of LD. Now if you want to debate LD over Brad Davis (I would), that's fine. But Brad Davis has a set role, he's great on the ball, great service. He has a place. That left foot is as good as they come in the US ranks. Now personally I'd rather LD come off the bench in the 75th minute in the final game against Germany needing a goal to advance, but that's not what he went with. And face it. The draw gave Jurgen an out. Landon being left home isn't the reason the US is going to be lucky to get a point in the WC. It's going to come down to F. Johnson - Besler - Cameron - Chandler learning how to play cohesively over the next 3 weeks. Who knows if it can happen, or even if them playing at their best is even enough to finish better than 3rd.

And yea, even knowing my Sounders bias, I'm really surprised Yedlin made it. I'm not as surprised Evans didn't, but taking Yedlin, to me, is that "23rd guy." I wouldn't be surprised if he never sees the field (and kind of hoping he doesn't, cuz I can't imagine seeing him against Asamoah, KPB, Ronaldo, Nani, Moutinho, Reus, Goetze, Ozil.... running at him (God damn. The US really is screwed)

Howard; F. Johnson - Besler - Cameron - Chandler; J. Jones - Bradley - Zusi - Bedoya; Dempsey - Altidore. That's decent.

And I'm ESPECIALLY torn as a German fan above all. This draw gutted me something awful. It's bad enough the US and Germany are in the same group, but then with Portugal and Ghana? Brutal. And now with Germany racking up the injuries, I'm dreading that 3rd game meaning something for both teams. I mean I can always dream that both teams enter the last game on 6 points and they're just playing to avoid Belgium in the 1st knockout game, right? (Or, more likely, the US is eliminated so I can put my full support behind die Mannschaft)

Jermaine Jones played last half of the season for Beşiktaş, and I must tell that he didn't play impressively well.I wouldn't want to see him play for us next season, on the other hand the other North American fella Atiba Hutchinson is a beast!!!

The only difference makers in this team would be Howard, Bradley and Demsey( if he feels like playing).

I'm afraid to say that they won't be winning any games in the group stages , maybe not even score a goal. I admit since Turkey is not in Brazil I root for the country that I live in and that's U.S.A, but at the same time I have to be realistic as well.

Oh, 0 points 0 goals is certainly a possibility. It was before Landy was left off too. Just a shit draw, plain and simple.

And I'd rather see Beckerman in there instead of Jones, but Klinsmann has a weird crush on Jermaine. It's going to be interesting to see how much JK shows in regards to his starting lineup vs trying guys in certain spots vs formations... etc. in those 3 friendlies over the next couple weeks. I mean at some point you have to pick a plan of attack and stick with it.

Only Issue I have on the roster is freaking Brad Davis. I'd rather see Donovan on the roster than Davis. Other than that I have no problems with it. Yedlin will not even play because Chandler has had a good camp and I totally expect for him and Beasley to play on the outside. Also Cameron and Fabian Johnson can also play outside back if necessary.

Dropping Lyon, and going back to my QPR, if Besiktas is not in the game
