There will be plenty of things to keep us all occupied in the meantime...State of the League will address that and more
Fuck Ireland. Fucking assholes. In the 90th minute? Really? Your team is worthless. If my beloved Milan wasn't already doomed in 2014-2015 this seals the deal losing their captain.
Just brutal. Plus Montes breaking his leg in horrifying fashion for Mexico. I know teams need their game speed training and all that, but nothing good comes from these games.
If this win makes you happy and satisfied with the futbol USA played today, you will have a problem in WC. What's your opinion ?
If this is Portugal or Germany, it's a blowout. That back line has a lot of issues to clean up and Jermaine playing that lone defensive mid role is a disaster. Not going to get the gift that Dempsey got, nor are we going to able to give up that many good opportunities and not expect to be scored on.
turkey definitely had some opportunities that we can't expect portugal/germany to also miss, and turkey did look the better side early in the match, but i wouldnt say the US played horrible. our defense still looks like they're trying to get on the same page, but they did a decent enough job and I thought Jones did well in staying committed to the defense. Bradley helped create some good looks and I'm still feeling good about our prep leading up to the Ghana match. Not feeling overly-confident, but not worried either. but that fabian goal was sexy
USA' worst nightmare would have been Belgium. I highly think that Belgium will at least see semi-final by the way. I think Mix guy should start, if USA want to score. Yedlin did good job with the little time he got to play. Bradley is still the best. Dempsey had Ronaldinho spirit in him for a second against the worst guy Turkey had on the pitch (Balta). That was unexpected move from him, at least I never seen him do anything like that
Also don't forget that half of the players Turkey tried out were either never seen National jersey before, or just starting to wear it to see if they can fit in. That goal was an awesome set up by Bradley.
Did anyone see Jurgen .... I mean Julian Green not be able to control not one ball? Also almost giving it away in his own box? Bright future (no way jose) or not kid can't play right now. There is a reason he scored a million goals out in division 4 somewhere in the North Pole. My lady friend Alex Morgan said it best, "I do wish I could like Julian Green. I really do". I know he won't see a minute of time in the WC but man if he can don the jersey why can't I. A simple touch is all I ask of the kid. Also Turkey missed a bunch of goals, game should've easily been 2-0 before that Johnson goal. I see there is a delusional Turkish person in here no way is Belgium getting to the semis. I think they will be a bust, too much hype in my mind. Round of 16 and buh bye. If that. Korea for sleeper of the year, I think Korea and Russia/Belgium make it out. Also anyone see ze Germans tie 2-2 v Cameroon, friendly or not ze Germans looked bad.
First off, Julian's on Bayern II, and saw time in the Champions League. Yea, it was mop up time, but how many other Americans can say that? Jermaine, and....? He's not ready this year, but to get him to commit to the US Jurgen had to put him on the 23. It is what it is. And saying ze Germans "looked bad" is probably a little harsh. They coulda (shoulda) been up 2 or 3-nil about 10 minutes in. They had Mario Gotze playing as a lone striker, which eventually turned into a 4-6-0, lol. Klose didn't play. Schweinsteger and Lahm didn't play. Neuer didn't play. Khedira is still working his way back. Assuming they get healthy in time, they'll be fine. Ghana and the US don't have the defenses to hold them out. They'll concede a goal here and there, but they're a final 8 team at worst. Did you see the average age of Ghana's roster is like 24? And people are freaking out about the lack of experience on the US roster. Speaking of Belgium\Russia\Korea, their group gets the Germany\Portugal\USA group in the first knockout stage game. Gonna be interesting to see the positioning involved to avoid the Belgians.
I know, I've seen him play. I've also seen the last 2 and only 2 games he has played with the USMNT. He looks like an U-20 player if that. What are the odds Julian makes it to 2018? What are the odds he pans out? I don't understand why people are looking towards 2018, tough group and all. The US made big strides from 2006 to 2010 and now just throw it all away and hope for 2018? Naw man, this was their chance to do something. He's the biggest hyped US prospect since Adu. Is Adu still alive? (serious question) Last I heard he was down in Brazil, not sure if he's still playing out there. After Cameroon applied pressure they looked dysfunctional as hell. Also they are going to the Barca method of playing with no 9. Only true 9 in the 23 is Klose no? There team is loaded though. Yes but have you seen the accolades that these Ghanaian players have? How many U-20 champions do we have? Better yet how many of those young guys are playing in Europe? This generation of Ghanaian players is really really good. Comparing Ghana to the US if foolish as Ghana is the best African team and better overall team to the US. I still don't get why people overlook Ghana, they've only beaten the US twice in the last two world cups. And heavily outplaying them in 06. Everywhere people talk about the Germans or Portugal as being the toughest match for the US, naw. Ghana could easily eliminate us in that 1st match. Also Portugal without Ronaldo is as good as Cuba (maybe a bit harsh but they won't be the same). Again have no clue why Ghana isn't listed in that last sentence, Europeans outside of Europe tend to suck in WC remember New Zealand drew Italy? Paraguay beat Italy? France finishing 3rd to Uruguay & Mexico? I could go on but it would take forever. I'd end with this, saw somewhere that Ghana had a 33% chance of getting 2nd to the US 37%. Weird as Ghana has more talent than us. Really mind boggling why everyone thinks Ghana is an easy 3 points or the worst team in the group.
