    Moscow, Russia

After the disastrous second half in Australia, conceding 4 in their 4-1 drubbing, Egypt came into this game searching for answers and a prayer of still having a chance at qualifying. In front of them stood a manager that they had never faced, and who himself was coming off a 2-0 loss to Turkey meaning both teams really needed to get something in this one. The first half was a rather drab affair and the two sides were separated by a slice of luck, as a sliced cross by Ahmed Hassan found Mohammed Salah, who's initial shot was parried by Ikinfeev only to fall kindly back at the captain's feet who slotted it into the empty net. 1-0 Egypt at halftime.

The Russians started to open up a little more in the 2nd half, knowing that staying back in defense wouldn't help them, and the sheer speed of Salah was on full display, as first he played a neat one-two with his strike partner to score with his right foot inside the area before taking the ball on the left flank and, with his speed, was able to brush aside the defender and smack a cannon of a shot near-post giving Ikinfeev no chance. The game was wrapped up by Ahmed Hassan, who skipped past a sliding challenge, then used a fake-shot to position himself in the box before opening his international account with his first goal in two games. Ahmed Hassan would have a chance to double his tally late on, but his penalty was well saved after Ikinfeev tripped over Salah; 4-0 Egypt final score.

Salah now has 4 goals in his first two qualification matches, as he looks to single-handedly push the group minnows into the World Cup. Will he be able to do it?

Cameroon opens World Cup Qualifiers with a 0-0 Draw against Ivory Coast. In a ho hum affair- both squads played to a dull draw as each squad canceled each other out.

Cameroon upsets Group Favorite Sweden to get three points in Group play- Cameroon's speed was a major influence in the outcome as Sweden had no answer for V. Aboubakar- and the overall speed of Cameroon bothered superstar Zlatan like mosquitos-

    Cairo, Egypt

in a massive match between Egypt and Turkey the home side was able to claim the vital 3 points and draw level with Turkey at the top of the standings. Turkey came into this game with a 100% record and 6 points already on the board, while Egypt had 3 points from their opening 2 matches and knew that defeat here was unacceptable; with at least 1 point needed to keep pace with the qualification places. Turkey came out red hot and 20 minutes in found themselves already 2 goals up as Yilmaz was able to cross it in to a wide open Potuk for the first, while Frei was able to head it in off the bounce from a corner for the second. Knowing that a change was needed and quickly, Egypt made a stunning change to the crowd as Player of the Round last time around Ahmed Hassan was replaced by Ayman Ashraf, who was making his debut for the team. The team responded with a vital goal in the 30th minute as Mohammed Salah's cross was met by the onrushing Mohammed Ibrahim to claw Egypt back into it. 2-1 at the break for Turkey.

5 minutes into the second half and the home crowd erupted as Mohammed Salah took a through ball by Mohammed Ibrahim and raced down the right side before slotting it near-side to draw this game level. Both teams would try to get the go-ahead goal but it was Egypt who would strike 21 minutes later as Saleh Gomaa's perfect cross off a corner was met by Hossam Ghaly, who himself was a last minute inclusion to the starting 11 over El-Neny. 3-2 for Egypt and the crowd were in shock. Deciding to go defensive after the goal the Egyptian defense had a few hair-raising moments where the speed on the Turkish wings would catch them off-guard but 5 minutes from the end Ayman Ashraf, the man making his debut, would end this game as he was the first to a short and low cross by Salah as he buried it into the net and set the home fans into delirium. As the final whistle blew the coach and players of the Egyptian national team were stunned at the events of the day, but as the dust settles and as we are now exactly at the halfway point of qualification, can the minnows from North Africa really pull off the upset and qualify to the World Cup? With the next two matches being vs Australia and @ Turkey, results in those two matches will be huge for the Pharaohs' quest to make the World Cup!

Ivory Coast picked up their 2nd point in WC qualifying after a tough, physical game against BigBeansMcGee's Sweden. The Ivorians got on the score sheet after Didier Drogba put in a header off of Yaya Toure's corner. The visitors drew level after an unfortunate penalty kick was given after Serge Aurier collected but couldn't control a cross and a Swedish player went down in the box. Seals was critical of the referee after the match claiming that it was a clear dive and the penalty should never have been awarded.

With only 2 pts. in the first 3 games of WC qualifying, Ivory Coast will need to be much better in the next 3 qualifiers if they want to secure a place in the upcoming World Cup.
