The Ivory Coast kicked off their TFS World Cup campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory over the Czech Republic. Wilfried Bony lead the Ivorians with a man of the match hat-trick performance including a nice left-footed volley that threw off Petr Cech for the first goal. Gervinho and Max Gradel were able to create fits for the Czech defense on the wings and assisted on all three of the Bony goals.

Through 6 qualification games, Wilfried Bony only had 3 goals but has already matched that tally in the first group stage game. Could he be the target man for Les Éléphants in their remaining games? Stay tuned!

Brazil opens there World Cup bid in exciting fashion. Opportunities were limited, but Brazil capitalized when it counted. Super sub Hulk was the difference. two exciting runs, one ending in pay dirt for Brazil. Luiz Adraino was MOTM dishing out an assist and finishing service from Hulk. A late run by Robben almost delivered a tie. Great match.

England came out strong in this game. Early on Rooney would find Sturridge in the 8th min to put them out to a 1-0 lead. The game would slow down a bit, but England would continue to pepper the net but kept going just wide. England's persistence would finally pay off as Rooney would find Sturridge again, this time on a cross 2-0 England. England would pick up one more crazy goal by Young. Let's just say it would be on Sportscenter for all the wrong reasons. England will now look forward to playing Ivory Coast in a big game Thursday at 10 et.

It was largely assumed around TFS, nay, the world, that Wales would go as far as one Gareth Bale could take them in this World Cup. It's so far, so good for the Welshmen as Bale's brace has fired the Dragons onto three points over a star-studded Argentina side. It didn't come easy, as a rather sloppy passing match from both sides threatened the quality of football -- with the exception, of course, of a lovely Bale driven strike courtesy of the outside of his foot in the 17th minute. Argentina had ample chances to get back into it, but several great saves from MOTM Wayne Hennessey kept Wales ahead long enough for Bale to net an insurance goal off of the counter, catching Argentina pushing for an equalizer. Wales now has its sights set on three points against Ireland with a near-impossible clash against the Aussies on the distant horizon.

Two managers who are all too familiar with each other faced off again in the first week of World Cup play, and manager ASinghal31 got the better of the two with a 3-0 victory. A slow start from both sides saw few shots through the first 30+ minutes until Kevin De Bruyne took a pass from Hazard, sliced his way through the middle of the defense, and put it past the keeper to give Belgium a 1-0 lead shortly before half time. Belgium poured on the shots over the next 40 minutes but never found the back of the net again until the 77' when, after a foul just outside the box, Hazard calmly curled the ball over the wall giving Belgium a 2-0 lead that. A little before the final whistle, Hazard sent another FK into the net to extend the goal differential to 3.

The Ivory Coast continued their impressive form from their first game with another 4-1 victory over the powerhouse England. Les Éléphants started slow by giving up an early goal to Daniel Sturridge, but then took control of the match from that point forward. Wilfried Bony was kept quiet this match with Joe Hart making some incredible saves to deny him, but four different Ivorians found the score sheet with an impressive balanced attack that exploited the English defense on multiple opportunities. Gervinho put in a man of the match performance with an goal and an assist. The Ivorians look to remain perfect in group stage play in their remaining game against Ecuador.

    Good game pitt4life21 !

In a back-and-forth game between two managers with little experience against each other, it was a match that left neutrals wanting more. The first half started slow as the German back 5 did well to marshal out the speedy Egyptian attack, however, in a momentary lapse of concentration the "home" side were able to take advantage as a cross into the box found a wide open Salah who powered a header past Neuer. The scoring would then continue 44 minutes later, and in an action packed second half, as a carbon copy attack of the first goal produced the second as it was now Hamoudi who turned provider, delivering a delicious cross into the box for Ayman Ashraf to head home. 3 minutes later and it looked like this would signal the beginning of an onslaught as Salah scored his second and his country's third as he was able to dance along the touchline before side footing it home past a hapless Neuer. Germany would fight back into this game though and with 5 minutes left a Bastian through ball found a racing Muller in stride, and he was no match for the sluggishly slow Egyptian backline as he was able to shoot and score to make it 3-1.

Right after kickoff, Salah was able to collect the ball in midfield, and with his best Maradona/Messi impression, was able to glance past would-be German defenders and cooly side foot a shot past Neuer to ensure the 3 points for his team and collect his hattrick. What a way to kickoff your World Cup career! Minutes before the final whistle Germany were again able to pull a goal back as Bastian headed in a Reus corner to end the scoring at 4-2 for Egypt. Looking forward, the Egyptians will now face Uruguay while the Germans get an all-European affair with Italy in the next round.

The Czechs knew they had to have a victory in this game, or Ecuador if they were going to advance to group play. I think Czech received the sense of urgency more in this game where they just kept attacking the Ecuadorians and with high percentage passing fueling the way. They were able to get 21 shots off, 16 on target and 6 going in including a rocket off of the Yellow's chest. Rosicky came out firing, almost a goal within the first 5 minutes as it went of the top bar but he redeemed himself with a goal in the 15th. Three more goals came from the 37' to halftime. Vydra was subbed into the match and scored on a possession two minutes into the second half. Lafata was able to get his second goal from a nice strike outside of the box in the 90th.

With the victory, Ivory Coast has clinched Group A. Czech Republic and England will battle to take 2nd place and advance into the Knockout Stage.

The Indomitable Lions roared load and Clinton N'Jie roared loudest. Cameroon overruns a more talented Belgium squad with speed and guile as the Belgians had no answer for speedster Clinton N'Jie who rings up his first hat trick in World Cup play. The Belgians came into the match with a swagger after dispatching the equally talented Dutch side 3-0- Belgium looked to Win and sit comfortably with 6 points when they meet Brasil. Perhaps overlooking a lesser talented squad as they prepared for the Brasilians- Belgium lead the Lions in every statistical category except one: SPEED.

Cameroon would not waver- as they know they stood on borrowed time- they attacked with an aggressive 4-3-3 formation daring the Belgians to a fight. C.N'Jie speed was obvious from the very beginning as he was able to weave around the Belgians waiting for openings to pop. The first goal was a rebound off a fantastic save from World Class Keeper T.Courtois- the 2nd and second chance on attack as Chedou chased down the ball and set up a cross back into the box. An inexplicable shirt tug in the box by Belgian Captain V.Kompany gave S.Etoo his first goal of a Penalty. As Belgium pressed the attack looking for goals- Cameroon's speed on the break was fatal - as the scoreline ballooned into a 6-0 goal fest for the African Nation. By the end- the crowd was stunned with the scoreline as Cameroon laid waste to the more talented Starting 11- and 74 GK C.Kameni outbids 86 GK. Courtois for Man of the Match Honors.

Czech and England battle it out for the 2nd place finish in Group A, but England was at more of a disadvantage having to grab the 3 point victory and the Czech's just having to draw. A pretty fast paced match on the pitch today, which resulted in 19 shots for both teams. Czech continued to be denied by the Three Lion defense while they had to continue to take long shots which ended wide for better part of the match. At the end of the day, Czech Republic will move on into Knockout play which is ultimately the goal in pool play.

Les Éléphants finished up their group stage play with another impressive scoreline over Ecuador. Wilfred Bony and Yaya Touré each bagged a brace and Max-Alain Gradel perhaps pulled off the prettiest move of the tournament on his assist to Gervinho. Ecuador was able to find their only goal of group play after a Jefferson Montero shot rebounded off Barry Copa and found a wide open Enner Valencia who calmly slotted the loose ball into the open net.

The Ivorians finished group play 3-0-0 (9 pts.) and a +10 goal differential. They now await Group B's runner up in the quarterfinals. The only concern for Seals' side is that they have conceded a goal in all three of their group games but hopes that Les Éléphants can keep producing goals at a high rate.

Fans across the internet were hoping to get an answer to the age-old debate of which UK nation is ultimately better, but after a 1-1 draw between Wales and Ireland, the questions remain as no side can claim the three points. Gareth Bale was held off the scoresheet for the first time in Wales' entire World Cup campaign (just guessing but probably true), but he did record a crucial assist to Vokes, who slammed home a volley to level the match in the 44th. But the real highlight from this contest was a rainbow curler of a shot from Robbie Keane that opened the scoring for Ireland. Down the stretch, Shay Given was massive in between the sticks, most notably stoning a few point-blank headers from corners, earning MOTM honors as Wales was unable to seize all three points (and six total) ahead of its impending death at the hands of Australia.

The all euro affair didn't disappoint! The major soccer powers stepped into the ring eyeing on taking much needed piinys from each other. Germany seemed to have the upper hand early in the match out shooting the men of pizza and meatballs. As the game got deeper into action Italy was finding a weakness through the center of the box and attacked with all their might. Great goalie play left Italy hanging dry as every shot was blocked. The Germans had one last chance late in stoppage time that led to a corner only to fall at the feet of an Italian defender. GG lou!

Cameroon put to the sword another European powerhouse as the Dutch were unable to answer the speed of Cameroon. Netherlands drew first blood on a splendid individual run by W. Sneijeder- as he dribbles around the entire Defensive Line and pops a cross the goal cracker to give the Dutch the first goal. Cameroon answers with 4 straight goals as C.Njie (hat trick hero from the last match) turned distributor as he played a role in three of the 4 goals to blow the match wide open. Sneidjer completes his brace but it was to late as C.Njie tallies up his 5th goal in group play and third assist in the match to complete the goal fest at 6-2. Cameroon guarantees the Knock Out round another African Representative as 12 goals in 2 matches means even a loss to Brasil will mean another fixture for the Lions.

Cameroon squanders opportunities as a superb performance from Brasilian GK D.Alves kept the Brasilians within striking distance. A Match of miss opportunities - the Lions attacked the Talented Brasilians- Cameroon draws first blood as C.Njie marks his third straight match with a goal - A late Penalty Call from Referee in the 59th minute allowed the Selecao to draw with Cameroon. V.Aboubakar waste no time as he replies in kind with a darting run into the box and beat D.alves near post for a 2-1 lead. Cameroon would regret not finishing this Match off as wanting goals from attempts by V.Aboubakar, S. Etoo and C. Njie go missing- Brasil subs in L.Adriano and Hulk who immediately pays dividend as Adriano finds the net off a header to draw the Match. The Lions would settle for a point as Cameroon slows the attack and holds down for a point- and ADVANCES to the knock out round regardless of the future results of other Group Matches.

In a do-or-die match, it was Belgium who came out hot, scoring an early 8th minute goal to take a 1-0 lead. However, their plan to play defensive for the rest of the match was cut short as Kaká powered through Vincent Kompany and fired an equalizer past Courtois just before the half. At halftime, Belgium replaced Benteke with Lukaku, a sub that turned out to be the game-changer in the match. In the 74', Lukaku pulled off a perfectly timed fake shot to find some space outside the box and then fired a shot in the upper 90 to give Belgium a 2-1 lead. 9 minutes later, he stole the ball from a Brazil player, raced down the left sideline, caused two Brazil defenders to crash into each other, and then scored a near-post goal as both defenders looked on helplessly to give Belgium a 2-goal advantage with just 7 minutes left to go. However, Brazil wasn't done, as Hulk danced with the ball on the sideline and finally sent a cross into the box, finding Neymar all alone far post, who calmly headed the ball into the net to bring Brazil into the net, sending the Belgium side into a temporary panic. Belgium found a way to hold on for the rest of the match, securing a matchup against longtime [FIFA] foe, wSeals9, in the knockout rounds.

    Great match IJGator

In a tightly fought contest, Uruguay hosted Italy in a group D clash. Early on, the Uruguayans were strong with there aggression on defense, pushing the Italian strikers around the pitch. However, this aggression led to an early foul called, and Candreva (Pirlo's little understudy) nailed a perfect shot in the top left corner from about 35-40 yards out that completely stunned the entire home team.(**potential goal of the tournament) Manager Broncos righted the ship quickly and put his team on the attack, stifling the Azzurri offense and keeping them defensive. It worked because an ill timed turnover in midfield gave Suarez the opportunity to push forward a pass to Cavani, who deftly schooled Sirgu, prompting the Italian faithful to immediately question the manager's decision to use him over Buffon. Both teams went in tied at the half.
Pennywise knew that he needed to make a few changes to get his offense going, so he went to the microwave, little Giovinco, off the bench. Gio paid dividends immediately, as his run past defenders forced Alvaro Gonzalez to commit the foul in the box to avoid the open shot on goal. Candreva calmly made Los Charruas pay with his 2nd goal of the night. After that, the Italians defense became impregnable and the Italians added 3 more points to give them a good foothold in the group standings, with only the Egyptians left to play.

An entertaining affair that had the neutrals, and both coaches, on their feet the entire time ends in a 2-2 draw. Uruguay, knowing that a loss would eliminate them from the World Cup, would strike first as a through ball by Gargano splits open the Egyptian defense as Cristian Rodriguez is able to easily beat the Egyptian keeper to make it 1-0.

Egypt would strike back and take the lead int his game in a 4 minute span halfway through the first half. First, Mohamed Salah was able to play a neat 1-2 with Ayman Ashraf, putting the winger clean through on goal and Ashraf would make no mistake as he slotted it near side to get the game to 1-1. 4 minutes later and the "home" team went ahead, as again it was Salah creating space and taking the ball down the touchline before passing it towards Hossam Ghaly who was able to take a touch before firing it into the net for the 2nd Egyptian goal. As the first half was coming to a close Luis Suarez somehow managed to miss a header from 2 yards out with no keeper in sight, as the Egyptian coach couldn't quite believe that his team was still in the lead as the halftime whistle blew.

The second half wasn't as open as the first, but Uruguay did manage to find an equalizer as a corner was headed in by Cavani at the near post. In the 94th minute of play, Cavani was somehow able to create space down the left hand side before sending a cross in that second half substitute Abel Hernandez met with his head only for it to agonizingly (for Uruguay) smack of the post. The immediate clearance by the Egyptian defense signaled the end of the game as the referee blew his final whistle.
