The Ivory Coast were able to get through a tough challenge from Portugal to advance to the semifinals of the TSL World Cup. Gervinho scored the lone header that the Ivorians needed after the Seydou Doumbia broke through the defense down the left wing on a counter attack and got off a cross to find him. The Ivorians missed on quite a few good chances throughout the match to double the lead but the Portuguese were unable to capitalize on a few opportunities of their own to find the equalizer. After a few tough seasons to end the cycle, Seals has found some good fortune again with the national team and will look to keep his momentum going in his next match to reach his second straight World Cup final.

Diego Costa scored a golden goal in extra time to send Spain through to the TSL World Cup semifinals after a 2-1 victory over Switzerland.

The game was uncharacteristically sloppy from both teams. Errant passes and errant shots kept the match scoreless until just before halftime.

Spain broke the deadlock when Costa held up the ball at the top of the Spanish box. The Swiss collapsed and Costa found Pedro cutting into the box with a diagonal through ball. Pedro's one-time shot beat Swiss keeper Yann Sommer far post.

The lead was short-lived though, as Pirmin Schwegler eluded the Spanish defense and leveled just before halftime.

The Swiss took control in the second half but couldn't break through. David De Gea had to make several excellent saves to send the match to extra time.

Costa sealed the victory 14 minutes into extra time, taking a pass from Pedro, dribbling into the box and beating Sommer.

Spain advances to play the winner of Austria and the second place team from Group D.

JANKO SEES AUSTRIA THROUGH TO SEMIS
A hard-fought game throughout looked near certain to head to golden goal before Marc Janko sealed it with a swift brace. A lovely recovery on a set piece led to the first goal as a cleared corner was taken back into the box by Marko Arnautovic, whose cross found Janko's powerful head for the first goal. On Austria's next significant touch of the ball, a seeing-eye through pass found a lumbering Janko who was in the clear and calmly slotted to make it two. Australia now has a difficult game ahead with giants Spain but the team certainly has been firing on all cylinders in what has been an unexpected run to get to this point.

Unlike reality, England was able to come out with a huge win in the knockout stage of the World Cup as super sub Jamie Vardy was able to score the equalizer and then the eventual Golden Goal. Egypt controlled the entire Golden Goal game as they hit the woodwork several times in the first few minutes of play. Though Joe Hart is currently unemployed at the moment he did his part for the National Team as he was able to make several big saves to keep The Lions in the match. The Golden Goal came as Daniel Sturridge played a well placed through ball to the Leicester striker who was able to curl home the eventual game winner. On to the next stage go The Lions of England

Drogba heads the Ivorians through to their 2nd straight TSL World Cup final!
Joe Hart had a stellar game between the posts for England but the Ivorians were able to find their only goal after Max Gradel was able to beat his defender on the right side and weigh a perfect cross to Drogba for the header. The Ivorian defense stayed strong in defense to protect Copa Barry for his 3rd clean sheet of the tournament. Unfortunate that the early part of the game (and the stream) was interrupted due to lag but a good game nonetheless. Gg BigBeansMcGee

After getting so close last cycle only to lose in controversial fashion, Seals was able to lead Les Elephants to World Cup glory as they beat Austria 2 - 0 in the final. Max Gradel opened up the scoring for the Ivorians just before the 30 min mark after Seydou Doumbia beat a couple defenders on the right side and found Gradel open in the box, who turned and found the back of the net. The substitute Salomon Kalou added a late goal to seal the deal for the Ivorians in the 90th minute.

"We just want to impose our athleticism on the Austrians. We knew that if we could get out in open space and use our pace to get in behind, the Austrians would have trouble keeping up. The trio of Gervinho, Gradel, and Doumbia excelled in their roles and that was the key for us. I also cannot give enough credit to our back four for taking the pressure off of Copa Barry and allowing him to face less shots. I'm proud of what this team did to find redemption from last cycles crushing defeat. It feels good finally win my first TSL trophy for them." - Manager Seals
