Considering we only get 5 keepers, so thats only 50 players. Plus guys may be cheap and not keep the best players (Im debating on Votto for instance). Regardless... youll get the full amount of auction budget, so you should be able to assemble a decent roster. Guys with Keepers have their salaries deducted from their auction budgets.
One rule discussion that has been determined to be a commissioner ruling... Our rosters will be moved to a much more recommended setting. C X 2 1B 2B 3B SS CI MI OF x 5 UTIL P X 9 Bench X 2 DL X 4 So... Deal with it I am open to adding a few more bench spots, but right now that is a 25 man roster which will be 350 players total. Personally I like this setup, but I am open to bench spot discussion ONLY.
Below are 3 proposals for scoring changes for 2013 season: Current System Batting Singles (1B)1 Doubles (2B)2 Triples (3B)3 Home Runs (HR)4 Total Bases (TB)1 Walks (BB)1 Runs Scored (R)2 Runs Batted In (RBI)2 Stolen Bases (SB)2 Strikeouts (K)-1 At Bats (AB)1 Caught Stealing (CS)-2 Ground into Double Plays (GIDP)-2 Pitching Innings Pitched (IP)3 Earned Runs (ER)-1 Wins (W)10 Losses (L)-10 Saves (SV)10 Blown Saves (BS)-10 Strikeouts (K)3 Hits Allowed (H)-1 Walks Issued (BB)-1 Shutouts (SO)15 Batters Faced (BF)0.33 Home Runs Allowed (HR)-4 Proposal 1 I am a big fan of fangraphs, and they have a very interesting scoring system that I was wondering what everyone thought of. Basically... pitchers are not penalized for poor defense and are not rewarded for wins. Hitters, are not rewarded for RBI Hitting AB -1.0 H 5.6 2B 2.9 3B 5.7 HR 9.4 BB 3.0 HBP 3.0 SB 1.9 CS -2.8 Pitching IP 5.0 K 2.0 BB -3.0 HBP -3.0 HR -13.0 SV 5.0 HOLDS 4.0 Proposal 2: Finally... My 3rd proposal is basically head to head each category, and you get a win for the week by edging your opponent in those categories. For instance, if you win 7-5, you get 1 win for the week. It would probably be a 6X6 format using: R,HR,RBI,SB,TB,OBP X W,SV,K,ERA,WHIP,HD The 6 categories above are obviously under review.
See the post I just made, I am putting up for discussion proposed changes. I absolutely LOVE the fangraphs points proposal. Also like the 6x6 idea as well.
Hahaha. Yeah, I know you werent into teh "roto" kinda thing. Points is certainly easier. My goal with the Fangraphs proposal is to streamline the scoring, and have much lower point totals at the end of the week. I love that as soon as you step to the plate you lose a point unless you get on base somehow. That's a big draw for me.
I personally like the current system best. I do like the idea a ton of not punishing a pitcher or benefiting a pitcher based on the defense around him. The only thing I don't like about proposal #1 is no points for RBI's?
At a glance I don't really have a huge preference between 1 an 2, although I would lean toward 1. Will look into 2 more when I get home.
Upon further inspection, I would definitely favor the current setup over the FanGraphs setup. With the 6x6 being 3rd.
RBIs are an incredibly stupid stat. They're context dependent. The scoring system wants to eliminate those types of stats. Basically, there's no reason you should get extra points because you hit a double when there was a guy who happened to be on 2nd. You hit a double, you should get points for that, and that only.
I agree with Bondzai Not a fan of roto so obviously I am not in favor of option 2. I like our current setup with option 1 my 2nd choice
