Doesn't total bases sort of overlap with single, double, and triple though? That would mean a guy gets 2 points for a single and 1 for a walk, when they're essentially the same result. I apologize if what I'm saying is way off base. On Forum Runner at work.
This is what I use in my league from friends back home: Scoring for Batting CategoriesNameSettings 1B Singles 1 point 2B Doubles 2 points 3B Triples 3 points BB Walks (Batters) 1 point CS Caught Stealing -1 point CYC Hitting for the Cycle 10 points GDP Ground Into Double Plays -1 point HP Hit by Pitch 1 point HR Home Runs 4 points IB Intentional Walks 1 point KO Strikeouts (Batter) -0.5 points R Runs 1 point RBI Runs Batted In 1 point SB Stolen Bases 2 points SF Sacrifice Flies 1 point SH Sacrifice Hits 1 point XBH Extra Base Hits 1 point Scoring for Pitching CategoriesNameSettings BBI Walks Issued (Pitchers) -1 point BS Blown Saves -3 points CG Complete Games 10 points ER Earned Runs -1 point HA Hits Allowed -1 point HB Hit Batsmen -1 point HD Holds 5 points HRA Home Runs Allowed -1 point INN Innings 3 points K Strikeouts (Pitcher) 0.5 points L Losses -5 points NH No-Hitters 5 points QS Quality Starts 3 points S Saves 7 points SO Shutouts 10 points W Wins 7 points WP Wild Pitches -1 point
Scores with the above were in the 250 - 400 point range, depending on whether or not you pooped the bed or blew up.
Yeah we had a lot of those year one, and even counted fielding stats. But the amount of points were just crazy.
I like this with Jesse's idea of making AB worth -1. Would it make sense to make Walks and singles worth 2 then? And obviously doubles 3, triples 4, HR 5. That would allow for the -1 for an out, but still make walks and singles worth a point. Say a guy goes 4/4 with 4 singles for simplicity sake: -4 points for AB, +8 points for singles gives a total of 4 which accomplishes the same thing and allows us to keep both categories.
I have no real preference since haven't played fantasy baseball in over 10 years, so I'm sure what ever you guys decide will work just fine, the sooner the better tho
With you adding extra spots for pitchers,OF'ers, and Catcher are you also increasing the Budget we have to work with? Also I dont really like only having 2 bench spots, 4 would be more ideal specially when injuries start to happen to key players in between our waiver period where we are just stuck having to play an injured player and get 0 points. Maybe I missed something and if I did I apologize, trying to catch up on all this
Interestingly enough... we are at 25 man rosters still currently. Previously it was 3 OF, 2 UTIL and 6 bench. We took away 1 UTIL and gave to a C. Took away 4 bench spots and added 2 OF, 1 MI and 1 CI. So it is still the same. I have no problem increasing the bench size... but there probably wouldnt be any more funds available. Most bench guys will go for $1 anyhow IMO.
Ok, Since there was no more discussion on scoring or roster sizes, I have made the changes I proposed. I still feel starting pitching is a bit overpowered with 10 points for a win or save, but I guess -10 for blown save or loss will offset this. Time to figure out a draft day and then establish payment date 1 week prior. The season opens on 3/31 (Sunday), so I say we have the draft either sunday 3/24 or some day during that week leading up to opening day. Payment of $25 will be due the week before the draft. We need to confirm a date. Does 3/24 work for you and if not, what day? ryalaman AJ Hart MN Bondzai briosu99 Colemanchu BigSmooth33 Big Suge Knight KnightNoles PepperNY Juan Valencia Timpegoose ty5oke DrunkenSoldier
The day is good for me, but it is really all about the time. I got 2 small kids so the later the better for me. How long does a draft like this take, I'm assuming 3 hrs or so?
I'm not sure I would be able to do the 24th. I will be out of town on vacation for march madness weekend.
Looks like the 24th works for most people, but not at the same time for anybody lol. How about the Sunday before or that Saturday?
