If I picked up Bumgarner in FA (but he was purchased for $16 in the auction), do I pay $1 or $16 to keep him?
This is what I've done in my fantasy football keeper league when I expanded, twice. Every free agent and "unprotected" player became available for drafting.
He shouldn't even be eliglible to be a keeper if he was dropped from someones roster. Only the guy's that were drafted by you and spent the whole season on your roster should be.. At least that's the way it's always been in every keeper league I've been a part of.
You get to pick keepers off of whatever roster it is that you're taking over for (since I'm pretty sure you're #10 and not an expansion team). Teams 11 and 12 would be at a disadvantage because they would not have keepers, instead they would have a full budget available in the auction.
I'm ok with that being the rule too... but Pagamer07 was saying that FA pickups were eligible before. I kinda like your rule more tbh (even if it takes MadBum from me).
Yeah, I have Hosmer and Waldon that would be nice for a buck but it just doesn't seem fair for some reason.
Danthraxxx Ryalaman is 100% correct. You will not be taking an expansion team, if we do expand. ryalaman AJ is 100% correct as well. My reply to Suge was for guys that were NOT drafted. They are $1. I should have made myself more clear. As AJ said, this is the way it's always been and will be. In fact, Keepers salaries will go up for Season 3. To try to get play movement and simulation of free agency for the top players. Im thinking each year they will go up $3-$5
Since the forums on ESPN suck so hard, over the weekend Ill change the very first post and add some rules and what not for commonly asked questions.
So then Ian Kennedy is eligible for $1? I mean, I'll keep him if that's the rule, but I don't think thats what AJ was saying either.
The time on the roster doesnt concern me at all. For instance... Lets say we started this in 2010. Someone traded for Hosmer, knowing he would hit the majors 2011. If they want to keep Hosmer to start 2011, thats their perogative. Same thing with Bryce Harper. If someone picked him up to stash him and he wasnt drafted, Im not going to make him inellegible for a keeper. That's just being a smart GM.
Does that answer your question? Im of the mind if guys are trading and planning for the future and holding roster spots for guys, why penalize them?
Ideally I wanted deeper rosters, with more keepers. So guys could in fact pay attention to top prospects and hold onto them.
Just saw this post. Absolutely keep them for $1. That is paying attention and I applaud you for being forward thinking.
It was actually drafted by Babydemon. He was the only one who could not make the draft, and then afterward dropped completely. Zcar took it over.
LOL. Well from what youve told me, I think youll do just fine. Youre actually doing research which I can think of a handful of guys may not even be doing that.
Well we could get really crazy and make this a real league and move it over to cbssports.com.. I've been in a league over there running now in it's 12th year and I have to say, it's the best fantasy baseball site around. I would have no problem completely starting over since we have new guy's and now it's for money. Maybe have 12 guy's throwing in 50 bucks a pop and go from there. We can lay out the rules from the get go so everyone is starting out even. We've now all done a auction so we know what to expect. What do you say Pagamer07 For the guy's that haven't been a part of a well run fantasy baseball league, you'd be in for a treat as you'll soon find out why fantasy baseball blows away fantasy football
I Acually have never done an auction draft , keeper yes but this is my first auction so I am game for whatever. As far as money I always think that is the way to avoid dead beat owners , but again I just wanna be in a good keeper league so it's whatever we wanna do is fine by me
AJ, i like CBS too but the auction draft interface is horrid. Also I dont think it supports the 13x13 statistical categories we have.
