There is several ways to help that.
1.Flyby - not gonna give you the distance but you'll get general idea.The diagram of the hole layout,when pausing the game helps too.
You can also move the marker around and get an idea as well- if you get a sudden 5ft elevation drop you are probably aiming at the bunker,if the elevations
stays the same for awhile you are probably over water etc
2.Mapping(the old fashioned way) - play a practice round before with zoom in on- and take notes.I have mine for distances,as well as what my targets
should be (ex. aim 2nd round tree on the left)
3.some sort of golf app for your smartphone,ipad etc - for most part those are very accurate

You gonna get a flyby for the entire hole.It is super helpful for the location of the flag

I the pause menu, there is an option for a fly-by of the hole. You can also see an overhead view of the hole in the caddie book, also found in the pause menu or by pressing the Back button (or PS3 equivalent of the back button).

You can't "turn on" the fly by option. You just push start and scroll down to fly by.
If you wait long enough it shows you the green as well - with no green grid of course.
But you can get a general idea where the hole is located.

I think I made it too easy with the course setup on you guys.
As I thought the visible marker,benefits the better players much more than the casuals.
I see guys missing fairways and greens and getting away with it more frequently then they should.

I asked myself the same question as soon as I saw his post

Since I bought the game, I've played on nothing but full simulation mode, so this setup does make it feel a bit easier. I agree that with only hitting 4 fairways at Torrey, I should have been penalized a lot more.

Other thing I do when I have doglegs is to look at position of the box or path to the fairway to know where to aim.

I have been looking how to turn on the fly by for all the holes without having to do it by myself. Thanks Vlad! That's helpful

Next time make sure you get the guys that are towards the bottom

I don't think there is a way for auto flyby. Which of course is typical for EA. I've been mashing the X button to cutoff the flyby at every hole for years,and the first time we actually need it nope have to do it manually

I did try not to get all the guys scoring -10 or more constantly I think he was close to par, a little bit over and under but not so low hahaha. Still, glad to see that we are getting extra members

Due to a power outage in Omaha yesterday I got cut off playing my 2nd round at Torrey. When it came back on I tried to restart it, but the remaining rounds were X'd out and unavailable.. I informed Vlad and bamagrad and Vlad told me the my 4th round will be the Sunday daily and to find a country club member to play Stroke Simultaneous for rounds 2 and 3 with the exact settings of the club tournament rounds 2 and 3.

I played both my 2nd and 3rd rounds yesterday with Sooooooners82 on Stroke Simultaneous. In the 2nd round I finished at E, which I was very disappointed with considering the pins were on medium. In the third round I finished at -10, one of my better rounds since I bought the game and hopefully it will put me back in contention. Thanks again for finding a way to make this work Vlad

Just confirming Houdini's scores, I seent it with my own eyes haha

What frustrates me is the slightest little bit off the trajectory, I'm out of bounds hitting 3 off the tee. Thats what pisses me off about this game, if your 20 yards off the fairway in real life, your not out of bounds in most cases. Other than that, I love the settings.

Is there a handicapping system to make things even for everyone?

The developers at EA have said that they hate that they have to put in the in-course out of bounds in the game. The current consoles have memory restrictions and they are forced to only load one hole at a time. With some of the newer courses in the game, such as Oak Hill, they tried to expand the OB lines as much as possible. If you notice, you can actually play it from an adjacent fairway on some holes there. They said that with the newer consoles coming out later this year, their hope is to be able to load the whole course at once to be able to eliminate the in-course OB.

To be honest my problem is more with the drops after you hit water or oob.
Btw I was playing Mission Hills hit a tree and the ball just got stuck lol. Hit the triangle to fast forward the shot and it dropped.





And goose yes there is a hc in place starting in the 5th tournament. You have to have I believe 12 rounds to establish handicap

That is another memory issue as well. Nothing better than hitting it in the water and then adding salt to the wound by placing you in a buried lie in the rough on a downhill slope

Happened to me twice already where I couldn't reach safe ground from where they dropped the ball. Both times I've ended up with an 11-

The Drops after hits into the water plus the OOB zones are the biggest flaws in the game.

Get rid of the Legends of The Majors, Tiger Youth challenge etc. and give us a drop zone/circle.
