    Seminoles Triumph!
Florida State survives a major scare against the rival Hurricanes
Werner recovers after Edwards collects the sack, fumble.

Tallahassee, FL-- The Hurricanes came into Tally and left scratching their heads after a well played game, two turnovers cost them chances at taking the lead and leaving victors. Florida State let go a huge exhale after Bjoern Werner recovered a fumble that Mario Edwards Jr forced. Recapping the first half, Miami would drive down the field on their first possession grabbing a field goal for a 3-0 lead. FSU would answer back on the next drive tying the first quarter at 3-3. The Noles would gather another field goal to push the lead 6-3, Miami facing a 3rd and long found Rashawn Scott for a 46 yard td strike, 10-6 Canes with 1:27 left in the second. That left the Noles plenty of time, marching down the field Jameis Winston found plenty of targets open which ended up hitting Christian Green for a 20 yard strike and taking a 13-10 lead into half.

Florida State received the ball opening up in the second half and Ronald Darby made sure the offense didn't come onto the field, he took the kickoff back 102 yards for a 20-10 lead. Miami didn't back down as they faced a 10 point defict along with a long 3rd down, but FSU keying on WR Allen Hurns, safety Lamarcus Joyner lost his deep third coverage as Ryan Williams found a wide open Phillip Dorsett for a 64 yard TD, cutting the lead 20-17. After two Florida State field goals putting them up 26-17, Miami found their way into the endzone with 2:37 left in the ball game. The Canes elected to try for the onsides kick, even with three TOs and they ended up getting it back. Florida State decided to turn up the heat and brought some heat, as T. Brooks came off the corner knocking the ball out while MLB Smith picked it up. A missed FG gave Miami back the ball but yet again FSU dialed up more pressure but this time Mario Edwards fought off a block, force fumble sack while Werner pounced on the ball for the FSU victory.

Florida State remains undefeated after a visit to Starkville
James Wilder Jr. runs for a career high
Starkville, MS-- It all started out right for Mississippi State, recovering a fumble on the first series but FSU's pressure pushed them out of FG range. After trading a few possessions, the Noles were on the board first and then took a 14-0 lead. Miss State came right back and cut the lead 14-7 before FSU got into the endzone again to stretch the lead back to two scores. Before half the Bulldogs were able to get 3 behind the arm of Russell.

The third quarter saw the Bulldogs get the deficit down to 35-20 and had several opportunties to close the gap closer but FSU continued to add on FGs into the fourth quarter to keep it a two possession score and final.

    2014 Florida State Seminoles Preview
    Offense
Jameis Winston returns while Senior Rick Trickett will be in the back up role as FSU opens up the year, Coach Knight really likes the mobility of Winston which adds the extra dimension into the offense.

The halfback position will be mostly shouldered by Devonta Freeman with James Wilder Jr to spill him while Mario Pender will see carries after Freeman's explosiveness wears down late in games.

The WR group might be one of the deadliest deep threats as a while in the nation. Rashad Greene is the burner of the group which will stretch the field vertically while Christian Green is #2 and is an excellent route runner. Kelvin Benjamin is the redzone target at 6'6'' but he just doesn't go grab the jump ball as he can go across the middle and is another excellent route runner. Add in Nick O'Leary at TE, this group could be very special.

The offensive line will grade out overall: 90, 93, 92, 88, 85. One of the most prolific scoring offenses should be back at this year and there isn't one guy that can be keyed on to ultimately shut down the offensive production.
    Defense
Losing DE Bjeorn Werner will hurt but Mario Edwards and Giorgio Newberry are the next two in line to become great ends out of FSU. The stud of the line goes to Timmy Jernigan, who should be able to control most of the rushing defense himself as his 6'3'' 305 pound body proves capable. Newcomer of the year, Neal Harris will see a more expanded role this year as the Noles will move more to a 4 man front.

The cleanup crew consists of: Nigel Terrell, Ukeme Eligwe and Terrance Smith. You will mostly find two of them on the field in the 4-2-5 defensive setup but the Noles will also feature a 4-3 set this year.

The secondary is led by Keelin Smith at cornerback and then award winner Karlos Williams returns at SS. A new free safety will make a debut this year in Kelvin Hicks, the most covet recruit out of last years class (battled with GT). While RS Freshman Nick Morris will see playing time in the 4-2-5 set as the extra Safety.
    Newcomer of the Year
Ryan Scott number has changed to 4
    Recruiting Class Update
    Outlook
Florida State is hungry after losing the National Championship to the Georgia Bulldogs. They return a very talented team but the schedule is one of the toughest in the Nation, which features 5 difficult opponents. Anything short of an ACC Championship berth would be a failure to Coach Knight, with this schedule a 10-2 year would be very satisfying. Of course the Seminoles will be chasing the crystal as long as the record will allow them to do so.

    User Opponents
    Key Games
Florida will not be featured on the schedule for a first time in a very long time.

    Road game is too much!
Bulldogs are humbled after a 37-25 loss in Tallahassee
Clint Trickett came off the bench to lead FSU to victory as Winston goes down for 4 weeks.

Tallahassee, FL-- Mississippi State came into the game wanting to prove so much, they seemed to amped up which would cost them some possessions. The Bulldogs had this one circled for almost a year after coming close to knocking off the Seminoles in 2013. This time around the score didn't really seem as close as it was, even though the Mississippi State had it down to 6 at 23-17.

A key possession happened in the fourth quarter, down 23-17 the Bulldogs called a long developing pass play but the pocket broke down, which gave the QB some room to make a scramble but instead he tries to throw it down field on the run where the safety makes a play on the ball and is picked. FSU would go down and score on the turnover pushing the lead 30-17. Another possession gave FSU the ball in Miss St territory and the Bulldogs had been gearing for the run most of the second half, this time Trickett worked the playaction and hit Christian Green who split two defenders in route for the touchdown, 37-17. The Bulldogs didn't lay quiet, they would end up scoring and getting a two point conversion to make the final score 37-25.

    A Thin Win
Tigers bow out at the end to Florida State 24-21
Devonta Freeman with a 30 yards TD score in the 2nd Quarter.

Baton Rouge, LA-- A pivotal match up to begin the year for both teams as LSU hosted the Florida State Seminoles. A wild ride where LSU would take a 21-14 lead into halftime and both teams would play a stalemate in the third quarter. The Seminoles were able to breakthrough and tie the game in the 4th quarter and the Tigers would get a shot to claim the lead by three but their FG would go off the crossbar and fall back into play, giving the Noles the ball. Florida State would drive the field and set up their own chance to win with 0:12 left, Washington would give the Noles a 3 point lead and that is where the game would end.

    Squeaker
Bulldogs bow out at the end to Florida State 24-18
James Wilder Jr sees a cut back lane and hits the hole for the touchdown

Athens, GA-- A rematch of the 2013 title game and Florida State had a lot on their hands to prove. Well it didn't seem like it the first quarter as Trickett would throw an interception after a decent drive down the field and Georgia would hit FSU with a big play, something they thrived on in the big game. The Noles would tighten up and only allow the field goal. On FSU's next drive or two, they couldn't get going as Trickett was rattled early on not being able to complete a pass and Georgia would grab a 6-0 lead. After Devonta Freeman went down, in stepped James Wilder Jr and on that drive the Noles decided to keep the rock on the ground. FSU knew, Georgia knew it or at least I believe so but the Noles were going to pound it and Georgia couldn't stop it. With under a 1:00 to go in the second quarter JWJr punched it in giving the Noles a 7-6 lead. Georgia going into score mode, would try to attempt to get something on the board quickly and then get the ball again to start the third quarter. That didn't happen as Hicks, it looked funny, but Hicks knew the out route was coming at him from the start and he played it almost perfectly but he made the play and took the interception back for 6 and a 14-6 lead at half.

The teams would play a stalemate in the third quarter. Early in the fourth, the Seminoles would get a FG from 37 yards out to go up 17-6. The Noles would get it back shortly after and Trickett would recognize a blitz of 6 Dawgs coming and he got it out to Kelvin Benjamin quickly and he went 34 yards for the score, 24-6. Georgia wouldn't give up so easily, they fought back with 2:43 remaing to score and cut the lead to 24-12. After failing on the onside kick, Georgia used up their 3 TOs, got the ball back and score with 0:44 left in the game. A very good onside kick just didn't bounce the Bulldogs way as Wilder Jr dove on the ball to seal the game (video on DW).

Tallahassee, FL-- An underwhelmed BC team traveled to Doak Campbell Stadium to play the heavily favored Seminoles. Forced the Seminoles to punt on their opening possession but after that it was all FSU. Started off on a defensive TD and by halftime it was 20-3. The third quarter was a stalemate and the 4th saw two TDs scored by both teams to give us the final margin of 27-10.

    Narrow Scrape
Florida State survives a major scare against the rival Tigers
Rashad Greene puts FSU on top to stay.
    ==================================
Clemson's tailback Mike Bellamy put up 173 yards on the ground to lead the Tigers back from a 21-3 hole.
Rashad Greene broke the tie with 2:23 remaining, Clemson driving inside the redzone but Bellamy made a crucial mistake of not wrapping the ball up as he was hit hard by FSU's CB Ryan Scott. The Seminoles recovered and ran out the remaining of the clock to stay unbeaten!

    Locked Up, National Title
Virginia Tech fails to muster any offense, loses to Florida State 45-0
    #22 v #1

Greene's 205 all purpose yards and 3 TDs led FSU to a ACC Championship.
Charlotte, NC-- Before anyone could sit down or blink an eye, FSU was up 28-0 in the first quarter. They would go on and coast to victory 45-0, as Coach Knight stated that was one of the most complete ball games to ever been played. VT's head man, commented "That's how the number one team in the country plays. We were not ready."
Devonta Freeman carried the rock for FSU, 14 attempts for 129 yards but was overshadowed by Rashad Greene's 205 all-purpose yard day as he put together one rush for a 68 yard TD, 4 receptions for 41 yards, one being a one handed TD catch and 3 punt returns for 96 yards and housing the first return of the game. VT put together a few good drives but Leal turned the ball over 4 times, something that you can't do when you want to win championships. FSU will all but be guaranteed to play in the National Title while VT will likely fall to the Chick Fil A bowl.
