lol.. You may need to change that sig of yours.. Did they get Anelka in return along with the all the cash?? If so, you'll still be fine with Suarez and Anelka for Torres. lol @ Chelsea though, and everyone makes fun of City for the spending sprees they go on. I at least have some respect for United as they don't seem to do this stuff nearly as much as those two clubs do.
ManYoo isn't quite as bad Chavs and M but they splash every now and again too---Berbatov comes to mind. I will give them credit for plucking Chicarito. I didn't think there was anyway way he'd be as good as he's gotten so fast. At the end of the day, only one club does it the right way:
Damn that sucks... Looks like Tottenham is trying to make a move for Diego Forlan. 12.49: Marca reports that Tottenham have tabled an official offer for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan. http://blogs.soccernet.com/onthemove/archives/2011/01/deadline_day_live.php
Liverpool are also signing Andy Carroll for £35 million. Yes, £35 million for Andy Carroll. What a joke. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/31/andy-carroll-liverpool-newcastle-transfer
I would like to see Utd go back to the 90's way producing quality from the academy however I guess they have had to move with the times but I think it's sad. That's why they did the treble in 99 cos those lads had played together since they were like 12 years old. I am sure a spending spree is just around the corner for us when the safe old stager's decide to hang up their boots. We just need good new owners. It makes me laugh when I hear Brits say we don't have that many top players cos look how many we had in that treble winning team. Was a good mix I think of quality Brits and some foreign talent and I wish our teams would go back to that and grow more of our own talent and give them chances. In the past I think Fergy has been superb at giving youngsters a chance to play in Europe games etc to get them ready for when he needs them, I know hes been given a hard time for this but hey how many times has been right. Although it pains me to say it Arsenal went through a few years of transition with young players and look how it's paying off now they are just getting stronger every year. I had my first look at Lindegard at the weekend our new keeper and I am not sure hes strong enough to be a no 1 keeper but I was pretty impressed with him quick feet good positioning and alert. I think he will be a good keeper in time. I wish we had signed Kasper Schmeichel he really looks like a chip off the old block a real top top keeper in the making their but he has really big shoes to fill I just hope he gets left to make his own name and not ruined by comparisons to his father all the time.
Don't get me wrong, I like Carroll as a player, but 35 million is just a ridiculous fee to be paying for him. I would think 20 or so is probably a more fair number.
I am probably wrong but I think Carrol will be like Berbatov for Utd over payed and over rated. I am not convinced at all he will be a good fit for Liverpool but hey Kenny is a wise old dog.
I don't think it could hurt. Torres has looked uninterested at 'Pool for a while now. No question that based on sheer quality Carroll + Suarez offer more than Torres (and I do rate Torres highly when he's on form). Not to mention it looks like Liverpool are getting even more players in the Torres deal. If they were to get say a Anelka or even Sturridge, than they would be committing highway robbery IMO.
I have really rated Suarez for a while now and I think if he settles hel be a major asset for Liverpool. Not only has Torres seen a loss of form and a bit moany he is a little injury prone. Moving Dalglish in to manage the club was the best possible decision as he is old school and he will sort the problems out but it won't happen overnight but he will get there. The major thing is he is Liverpool through n through if you guys don't know much about him just google n see a few vids he was awesome as a player and just reads the game so well. I also like his no nonsense approach.
Not a chance in hell Carroll ends up being worth the money they're paying for him. Think about other players that go for that much money, or think of better players that go for less. This deal is laughable.
I agree totally Krebstar. I meen I was impressed with Berby when he was at Tottenham now we all know why they accepted 39M for him. Same thing look what we could have had for that money. I also wouldn't pay that much for Torres looking at those prices Suarez is a snip at 23M
So what is going on at 'Pool? DEL, summarize for me: - Torres -> Chelsea - Suarez -> 'Pool (signed already) - Carrol -> 'Pool - Charlie Adam -> Blackpool -> Liverpool in the works?? If that all plays out, especially the Adam in move, I think we just upgraded big time. I think Andy Carroll is a great sign, but 35m GBP is a hell of a lot. I agree that 20-25 would have been more reasonable. I do think that Carroll will be a BEAST in the long run.
Like Krebstar says n I totally agree would you buy him if you had that money in your pocket I personally wouldn't I would want 2 players or 1 really tried n tested player for that sort of money. Also his behaviour and temperment are questionable.
Carroll is a great sign for a hell of a lot less money. You could get two players, both better than Carroll for that money. I'm all for signing him and giving him a chance, but for £35 million? You're buying Suarez for £23, but Carroll for £35. Insanely hilarious. Those numbers and players next to each other say it all. Look at it this way...Torres goes for £50 million, Carroll for £35. £15 million difference. Suarez for £23 million, Carroll for £35. £12 million difference. It's as if Andy Carroll has suddenly become as valuable as Fernando Torres.
They stopped critiquing the Bent transfer... And they were all roaring just a week ago over the 24 that villa paid
good thing is, you don't have to pay for him and there is no salary cap. atleast i think there isn't, but i'm still learning this whole thing. yes Roma and fulham traded two hens for a rooster.
There are the UEFA Fair Play rules coming into play, though, where clubs can only have a certain amount of loss each season and it will stop "sugar daddy's" from simply pumping money into clubs. UEFA has already stated now they're worried how Chelsea will possibly be able to not be in violation of the rules with their transfers yesterday. As for Liverpool, they better watch the same thing if they want to keep spending big. Although, it doesn't matter if they're banned from Europe as they won't be there next year anyway.
