Via OS FIFA 14 Title Update Available Now, Details Included - Investigating Freeze Issues EA Sports has released a FIFA 14 title update this morning, which fixes a few issues in Skill Games, Creation Centre and some of the other issues listed below. The effectiveness of headers from corner kicks and crosses. The effectiveness of finesse shots. The accuracy of lofted through-balls. The team is also aware that some users are experiencing freeze issues in the game. They are investigating the problem and will send out an update when they can.
I think this OS report is inaccurate. If you read the source article, it says a patch is out for freezing, and another patch will be released for headers et al
For those struggling I highly recommend reading these thoughts from an OS poster. I couldnt agree with him more.
I'm having a lot of trouble maintaining possession in the midfield to buildup. I've been slowing down and even playing more east to west be seem to be coughing the ball over way too easily. I've tried to shield it at times but I'm just having a difficult time possessing and then getting chances. I typically get <4 shots off per game, just have to keep working though.
Also does anyone have any info on the next gen (Xbox one, PS4) release of the same game? I have the option to trade up on xbox one and this is one of the games I'm really looking forward to but havent heard much new news. I heard the developers were excited because there were going to be tons more animations which the 360 just couldnt handle.
While shielding, you have to anticipate which way the defender is going to try and come around you to take possession. Thenyou just spin the opposite way.
If i pick it up this weekend, i'll check in for some matches. It's a shame what online has done to sports gaming though. It bothers me to have to purchase a new game every year just for an updated version rather than a new complete overhauled one. Plus the fact that you'll be playing against.......Nobody. lol
Hollered at ya in the other thread but I'm working 7p-7a Thurs, Fri, Sat this weekend so no go this weekend. Would love to catch a game soon though bud.
Nights? Urrrrrrgh! Did those for a good 5/6 years. Horrible shift. Would have been better if we had the same option you do though. It was just a straight 5 days for us. NO SLEEP!!!
Blaza hedache Couple of button questions, all on XBOX... 1. How do you shield defenders if you have the ball? 2. How do control your touch on the ball when you receive it in the air? Like if the goalie kicks the ball to you in the air and you're a forward facing the goalie, how do you control the touch so the ball just doesn't bounce wildly off you? It used to be one of the triggers I believe... 3. Any other one touch tips? For example, you're the right midfielder and the right defender wants to advance the ball to you. You're facing the right defender and your back is to the opponent's player, how can you receive the ball and one touch flick it past you so you can try to sprint around the defender to continue down the flank?
Title update #FIFA14 Title Update II is LIVE on PC. Consoles next week. Balances lofted-thru balls, headers, finesse shots & more http://t.co/fmCMN8UNmu— EA SPORTS FIFA (@EASPORTSFIFA) October 5, 2024 The fact that they had to include El Shaarawy skills increase says a lot
So I'm not sure if you wanted me to answer this or not but, 1. Shield using left trigger. 2. You can trap the ball and use a controlled touch from air balls using left trigger as well. 3. If you'd like to get past the defender using a heavy touch, use the right thumbnstick. However the animation is contextual and not very effective in this year's version (at least as I've seen). It can also be used as a first touch from all passes.
1. Left trigger but it's got weird mechanics. You have to test it in different situations to get used to how it works. For me it's becoming muscle memory so I'll try to explain as accurate as I can remember. I think the defender has to be close enough for it to take effect. I think I let go of left analog for it to happen, and then you need to decide which direction to go, based on the defender's direction of butt raping your guy. 2. Last year it was one of the triggers. It may still be but I feel like with or without triggers players are fine controlling the ball. I think what matters more is that they're not mobile. Just a theory. 3. In addition to what's said, I use LB for slow controlled movement to hold onto the ball (as much as my lag allows me, it works great with games I have good connection), and do heavy touches to throw off the defender's momentum.
