We're trying to get a solid group of 12 and then go from there. If people are only joining if X number of conferences, settings, they get their favorite team, and other demands most likely we're not going to fit everyone's wishlist to a T. Seems like the guys Dakota quoted in the E and most who have replied to this thread are in the running. You also have commish experience, maybe you could run the show.
Well I love the game and I've been with The Flashback since the alpha... If you have no other soul I'll join should the commish allow
I thought I answered them as best I could. I'll try again - Members - The E guys and most who have replied to this thread Teams - Trying to get our 12 guys set first, THEN decide on this stuff Details - See ^ Here's my shortlist so far for QUALITY members: INTERESTED Austin1990 Bruce80 -Cougars- Fmode11 Hornfaninbama IrishBearcat UofCWildcat PENDING Jello1717 Raidernation KnightNoles Do you think it would be more advantageous to just decide on specifics like teams, conferences, details, etc. and then try and get guys on board? I figured it would be best to get the dozen guys selected, hear opinions from all, and decide on what's the best fit for the group. I just know I want to play on Heisman and have a great members. The latter is really the most crucial for any league.
Hova ? I know you and myself were both excited at the prospect of a new NCAA league until it turned into cheese city and fell apart. That's why I'm being picky now and giving this one last shot. Have no idea if you'd be interested.
We are. We're down to 7 members, but we've added 2 and lost 1 in the last few weeks. I tagged everyone in our forum and linked to this thread. I think the ones who are interested have been over here. The only one that hasn't that could be is qclassic 22. I think he was part of the now defunct league that left TSO. If any of y'all are interested we'd love to have some new blood. We're in season 4 week 7, and we are on a very firm 48 hour advance schedule.
You must have known I just filed my taxes yesterday lol. How close are you guys to starting? I'm possibly a week or two away if this really has some steam I could see myself pulling the trigger on it.
Sooner = Better. We're waiting on quality guys, but we could fill up in a day, week, month, who knows. It's going a lot quicker than expected, I'll leave it at that.
IrishBearcat - What did you have in mind for set-up? If I can roll my Spartans you can count me in 99.9%..... but I will call a spade a spade, feelings or not
I don't know if I'm quality enough but, I'm interested. NCAA dynasties are usually all I'm ever in but, I have had a great time in TLY. We are in Season 3. KnightNoles can vouch for me.
Irish, you are funny...... you act as if only having 8 or 9 guys means you cant have a good league. There isnt some rule about needing 12 guys to have a fun league. If you guys have 8 or more you can run a quality league, the longer you wait to pull the trigger because you "need to have 12 quality members" the less likely you are to ever get this thing off the ground.
I could see how my posts could come off as being that way, but I really don't believe that to be the case. I think you can run a good league with 4-6 members if it's the right kind of group. The main reason I want to do this is because I've tried two things so far: Ran an OD with 8-9 quality guys from the start Ran an OD with a full dozen, but first come first serve In case #1 after 2 or so members dropped we were down to like 5-6. At this point a lot of people lost interest and the dynasty crumbled. In case #2, we were full but we had a mixed bag of some quality vets and some noobs he needed a lot of grooming. The group didn't mesh well and it imploded quickly. I think the group needs to be similar. It helps if it's a bunch of new guys in say a "newbie league" with an experienced commissioner to do the heavy lifting of transforming them into quality members, or you need all quality members from the start because they have higher expectations. The problem is if you roll with 6-8 and somebody gets tired of the game, somebody has a work-related matter that forces them to quit, somebody's xbox breaks, etc. etc. Then when you're down to 4-6 guys the OD implodes despite having quality. I think the best chance for an OD to be successful and long-lasting at this juncture is to formulate a group of a full dozen, quality, and diehard NCAA Vets who have a good history. This way even is 2-3 members are lost for whatever reason then the OD will still go the distance and thrive. I'm impatient and I've communicated that we're waiting for what I outlined above because it will give us the best chance of success and the ability for everyone to have the most fun. I know we'll get this going at some point, it seems to be in the next week or so. If people are too impatient or lose interest during the waiting game, I'd say odds are likely they would've flaked anyway. I'm sure there are smarter people who would be able to set this up, but I'm just going with the best strategy I could come up with. The XP glitch really is the biggest problem. I'd start right now knowing I could just fill the spots down the line if we had people drop. You know have to do a great job of selecting your members because that's your crew start to finish regardless of what happens.
As far as the XP glitch goes, TF didn't start with a full 12 this last restart. We went with 11 because I read somewhere that having a full 12, losing someone and adding a new one created the problem. And actually saying this instead of thinking it is probably tempting fate, but we have lost several members, and added a few others and haven't experienced that glitch at all. All of our coaches are still earning XP. Even the new guys. I'm not saying that starting with 11 instead of 12 is what fixed it, but it has worked out well for us. We did the same thing for the previous restart and made it halfway through season 2 before a file issue forced this last restart. We are almost finished with season 4 in this latest iteration.
After starting with 11, did you ever fill that last spot and avoid the XP glitch? This is very intriguing.
another fix for coach xp.............. Adjust starting coach level. Give all coaches the max level so everyone has every trait - though this gives players a big advantage over the CPU and we all know the CPU needs as much help as it can get. Alternatively, set a specific level and dont allow coaches to increase. You can see everyone elses skills so it is easy to police. For example you could say that everyone gets level 20 and must put 10 each in recruiting and gameplanning. Its not like coaches skills are the only reason to play the game, I mean they are a cool wrinkle, but playing the game is the real draw and allowing coach skills (or the lack thereof) ruin your OD is silly, find a way to keep things balanced and play on. This also alleviates the issues of losing/adding players over time.
Also, moved this thread to league openings which is the more appropriate spot for it. When (if) you guys are ready to move forward say the word and we'll see about getting you guys a space on the forums and commish rights for whoever steps up.
