The hiring of Coach Solomon as the Golden Panthers new Defensive Coordinator looks like a good decision after the first game. The new defensive scheme put in place allowed only 29 rushing yards and 197 passing yards while getting to the QB 5 times.
The ground and pound offense was very effective with 190 yard on the ground and 163 through the air.
The one negative FIU will be taking from this game is the loss of their SR RB who put up 135 rushing yards and 2 scores before getting injured. He is expected to miss up to 6 wks.

A road game against the #16 Arkansas Razorbacks brought the Golden Panthers back down to earth from their opening weekend victory. A touchdown on Arkansas' opening drive gave them a 7-0 lead that they would never relinguish. FIU's defense allowed more than double the amount of yards in this game compared to the first. They allowed 215 on the ground and 286 through the air.
The offense was never able to get the ground game going, totalling only 62 yds rushing for the game. Trailing most of the game the offense went to the air a bit more than they like and got 253 through the air.
Updating an earlier injury report: Sr RB Perry's MRI was negative and was able to get back on the field this week.

A disappointing home loss for the Golden Panthers. If it wasn't for 2 pick sixes and a 102 yard kick return TD this game would have been alot closer. The defense allowed 10 points in the 1st half, Offense and special teams allowed 21. Coach Solomon appears to have the defensive scheme in place but by the 4th Qtr his D was so worn out they allowed 14 more points. FIU's offense never fully got into a rythym. A disappointing 65yds rushing and 234 yds passing. The defense held UCF to a mere 9 first downs and 306 total yards of offense.

The Ragin' Cajuns jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and a 24-9 lead at the half. FIU's defense turned it up in the second half and allowed no scores at all while the offense put up 30. Overall the defense allowed 186 total yards and only 25 rushing yards. Two turnovers caused by the defense and an astounding 13 sacks. The offense was operating effectively with 161 rushing yards and 285 passing yards.

Another slow start by the Golden Panthers led to a 17-6 halftime deficit. However the defense came out swinging in the 2nd half. The first touchdown of the game was scored on a 55 yard fumble return in the 3rd qtr. The offense didn't really get going until the 4th qtr when they put up 21pts. The defense recorded 4 turnovers and 6 sacks.

The FIU Defense pitched in on the scoring in this game and put up 14 points. Tied at 14 with just :08 left in the 1st half akron had the ball on the 3 yard line. An ill advised pass by the Akron QB led to an interception and 100yd return as time expired. The second half of the game is where FIU was once again able to seperate themselves from their competition outscoring Akron 24-6.

After a lackluster performance against Ark St. last week the Golden Panthers of FIU bounced back with a great effort against Troy. These defensive battle saw all 10pts scored in the first half. Down 3-0 with less than a minute in the first FIU score their only TD on a 60yd pass. WKU had several attempts in the second half but each time they were stopped by the swarming FIU defense. With less than a minute in the game WKU was running their offense down the field when an untimely pass by their QB was deflected and intercepted by FIU essentially ending the game.

Another defensive battle for the FIU Panthers saw them come out on the losing side this time. FAU's defense was solid in the redzone holding the Panthers to just 3 FGs in 4 attempts and holding FIU to 20% conversion rate on 3rd down. FIU's defense was able to keep them in the game by forcing 4 turnovers and holding the owls to just 249yds total offense.

The third game in a row FIU has played that was decided by 5points or less. A decent showing by the offense who put up a total of 403 yds. But it was the defense causing havoc with sacks and turnovers. Two turnovers by the defense included a pick 6 and a total of 5 sacks.
