Gators fall out in Cali 21-18 to #7 Stanford

The Trey Burton era begins with an L. Gators lose on the last play of the game to the Stanford Cardinal. Florida would not score a TD until 1:12 to go in the game whne Burton hit Chris Dunkley for an 80 yard TD pass to put the Gators up by 4. That would prove to be their downfall because it gave Heisman Hopeful Andrew Luck time to hit two big passes on third and longs to get the Cardinal in play for a TD. Will Hill would crush a Stanford WR at the 2 and the Cardinal called a timeout with 2 seconds to go. They came out in a 4 wide set and ran the HB draw for six as time expired.

Burton was 14-22 for 296 yards and score with an interception
    Luck 17-25 251 yards 0 scores.

Florida was dominated in rushing yards gained in this one as well as the HB Taylor for the Cardinal went for 130 and 2 scores on 18 carries.

Urban Meyer: We had our chances and we just gave them too many opportunities to beat us. #12 is a helluva competitor. He outwilled us in the 4th quarter.

UF finds their groove. Handles the Vols in the Swamp.

Trey Burton is Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. The true sophomore put on a passing display and showed flashes of the athleticism that got him an offer to UF. He was highly efficient in this one despite not scoring in the first half the Gators rolled up 31 points. Andre Debose and Chris Dunkley provided big plays receiveing very accurate Burton passes.

The defense found its grove after the debacle. They were able to shut down the Vols for tha majority of the game. Jon Bostic came away with a pick six as he jumped a HB screen and cribbed it from 20 or so yards out.
