    Florida Gators 2013 Season Recaps

Urban Meyer returned to his old stomping grounds out in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This time he patroled the visitor sidelines and his team was able to come away with a 31-24 defeat of the pesky Utes.

The game was closer than it should have been Utah capitalized off of two fumbles and a Interception to muster 10 of their 24 points.

Florida's defense looked good despite two misplayed passes that lead to scores. Jelani jenkins was all over the field and had close to 10 tackles.

The story of the game was Freshman running back Kevin Sherman's debut. He was the back that had the two fumbles in te first half. However, Urban Meyer went against his norm of pulling fumbling backs and let the youngster go, and go he did. He amassed over 100 yards rushing and 3 scores as well as over 50 yards receiving.

Meyer :" I felt like if I would have yanked him it would kill his psyche and I felt he was gonna come up big for us and he did. But we will address the Fumble issues from the time I get in the locker room until it's cured."

Dane Pearson returned a kick in the second quarter 90 yards for a score to kill the budding momentum of the Utes.

Florida gets it done 13-10 vs colorado.

Game ends with coloradoinside the 10 and he was trying to spike but it did the fake spike and he had to throw it and My FS picked it off in the endzone. Win feels cheap but we will take it and get ready for the Bearcats.

The Cardiac Kids do it again

Florida escapes the great state of Ohio with a 14-13 win.

Urban Meyere returned to his alma mater to take on the Bearcats of Cincinnatti. This game was a slug fest. This was not expected due to both teams having a history of prolific offenses. The Gator defense held the Bearcats to two FG's and a touchdown. They cam eup with big stops on 3rd and 4th down through out the game.

The Cincinnatti QB however woud torch the Gator D for over 300 yards in the first half as they showed no faith in the running game. Bend but don't break was the Motto.

Anthony Crowell played decent and was able to find his RB Keith Sherman and freshman phenom WR for scores.

The Bearcats would have the ball late with a minute to go and be in FG range instead of running they passed and JOn Bostic and the Gator D Line swarmed in for a big sack knocking them out of range. They would throw an incomplete pass and then come up with a big one down that would lead to them being right at their kicker's distance.

They kicked he missed coming up short by a yard or two.

    Next up the VOLS.

    #6Florida beats #9 Tennesee 30-14

Now that's more like it. Florida came out and dominated the second and third quarters to beat hated rival Tennesee. In game where Florida had plenty of recruits to impress they looked good in all three phases of the game (- L. Fontenot terrible kicking). Ryan Harwell the #1 WR in the 2013 class had a break out game with over 150 yards receiving. Anthony Crowell hit two TD passes and ran for another.

The defense held UT in check for the most part. UT ran the fleXbox One and the Gators adjusted after a first drive TD for UT.

Up next the Gators travel to Lexington, KY.

After handling Kentucky, Florida survives a trap game vs. Ole Miss. To keep an unblemished record and a big time game with LSU. Anthony Crowell had a ho-hum day. Ryan Harwell caught a noce 30 yard td from Jordan Reed. RB Sherman played well early.

The UF defense played well most of the game had some nice sacks one of which knocked Ole Miss starting QB out for 3 weeks.

In what Coach Urban Meyer would call a solid effort by his squad, The Gators fall 24-21 to the LSU Tigers. You can't really point to one thing and say that's why the Gators loss. The running game never really go going and the defense gave up 1 or 2 big plays. However, the team answered the bell each time.

Play of note, 4th and 1 on their own 30 with 3:00 left Florida would attempt to pund it for the first down and came up short. This led to a LSU FG and a 10 point lead. Meyer said he trusts his defense but just felt like he wanted to go for it due to the flow of the game.

Florida has to win out to have a shot at Atlanta because the Dawgs are one of the hottest teams in college football.

Players of Note Ryan Harwell Frosh WR had 2 TD receptions and came up big numeorus times on third downs. He is a possession type receiver who will be deadly in the red zone as he matures as a route runner and pass catcher.
