Week 7 is a huge week for coach Sherm and the Florida Gators. There is a whole slew of recruits headed to Gainesville to watch the Gators take on Arkansas in the Swamp this weekend. The list is headlined by 5 star prospects WR Cody Tucker, G Terry Brown, T Patrick Davis, and OLB Byron Parker among others.

Coach Sherm also had other news to report this week as offensive coordinator Steve Addazio picked up UF's fourth 4 star recruit of the season TE M. Lee from Fort Meade, Florida. This is a big get for UF since they only have 2 TEs on the depth chart this season and Jr TE Aaron Hernandez may make the leap to the NFL after this season. Marcus Lee brings much needed depth along with his C+ spd and great run blocking ability to Gainesville.

    Week 7 Update

Coach Sherm is reporting that he has received 5 huge commitments after the big win against Arkansas this weekend. Coach Sherm after the game:"I want to report to you guys that after the game on my way out of the locker room Saturday, I received commitments from some visiting prospects. We have commitments from #1 G Terry Brown, #5 G G. Perry, #1 OLB B. Parker, #5 Ath J. Wright, and #3 MLB J. Wright. I'm extremely excited to have commitments from all these prospects. They all have the ability to contribute immediately and they make the future for UF very bright."

Week 10 was a huge week on the recruiting trail for the Florida Gators. They picked up 5 more recruits. This list is headlined by 5 star OT Patrick Davis. This kids an absolute beast at 6'7" and 291 lbs. He'll be sure to keep UF's QBs upright for the next four years.

The other commits were 3 star WR C. Tyler, the 6'4" 201 lb split end will provide UF with a big time WR who can go get the ball to balance out their current WR corps loaded with small speedsters.

Also to commit was #5 MLB Ryan Adams. This kid brings solid speed, tackling, and great hitting power to the core of a stacked UF defense.

The last two commits are #6 and #20 CBs J. Davis and A. Reed. Both these corners top 6' and will provide solid coverage against the SEC's abundance of great WRs in the years to come. Both are strong in man coverage and A. Reed's 4.32 40 time isn't bad either.

Offensive Coordinator KSherm said "We're really excited about these guys. Patrick Davis fills out our 5 star scholarships and, WOW, I'm just amazed at what we've brought in on the offensive line this year. The other guys are going to be huge playmakers for us as well down the road."

In week 12 the Florida Gators added another ESPN 150 member in OLB R. Brown. He comes in ranked as the #57 recruit overall and the #3 OLB in the nation.

Coach KSherm: "I don't know what's going to happen next year but with all these recruits coming in, practice may be tougher than some games."

    Week 13

UF receives a verbal commitment from Ath Eric Peterson. The 3 star prospect will look to play in the defensive secondary at UF and may factor into the return game where his 4.32 40 time will drive opposing coaches crazy.

    2009 Week 14

The Gators landed another prospect in week 14, Juco DE Marcus Hayes. He's ranked the 348th overall recruit and number 12 at his position.

"It's a position we really needed to add some depth at. Marcus will have the chance to come in and play but he will probably end up red shirting his first year at UF so he has a better chance to develop into his potential."

    2009 Offseason

The National Championship winning Florida Gators are saying goodbye to an amazing group of players this week of graduation.

Included in this group are, 2 time heisman winner Tim Tebow and MLB Brandon Spikes, as well as the main targets of this years WR corps, Riley Cooper, Carl Moore, and David Nelson. All of these guys will be greatly missed and difficult to replace.

Also, in addition to the graduating seniors, UF is losing 2 junior stars who are declaring themselves eligible for the NFL draft. With their 95+ overall rating, they feel the college game can benefit them no longer. These two are:

UF Single Season INT record holder FS Major Wright
    and
    The Freak, DE Carlos Dunlap

"I wish these guys the best. I've never been around a more talented group of guys and they all proved it on the field each and every Saturday. They will all be greatly missed." -Coach KSherm

    Final 2009 recruiting update:

The UF class has been finalized. The incoming class is ranked #2 in the year and was capped off by the signing of 2 four star safeties. One is huge at 6'5" and should break up a lot of deep balls in his career at UF.

The class is headlined with 4 five star prospects. Three offensive linemen and an OLB. The Gators look for this class to continue pushing their program towards more SEC championships.
