Florida St. year 2 game recaps

    Florida St. @ Miami

When you think of these two teams meeting you probably think of words like epic, classic, or even legendary. Well this game definately fits the bill. Miami started off the scoring with a FG to lead 3-0 after one quarter. FSU finished their next drive with a FG as well to tie the score at 3's. Miami answered back with another FG drive to go up 6-3. Guess what FSU decided to do? You guessed it, 52 yard FG and we were knotted up 6-6 at the half.

    2nd half ----------------------------------------------------

Let me start by saying the second half would be nearly an exact replica of the first. Defense, defense, defense, and defense by both squads. By the end of the 3rd FSU had kicked their 3rd FG of the game and led 9-6. Again Miami would answer back with a FG at the 3minute mark of the 4th quarter. FSU had a 3rd & long with a little over a minute left in the game. Emerging number one target Avis Commack ran a corner pattern that Ponder had to float up in an attempt to beat a blitzing Hurricane defense. He hauled it in to keep the drive moving. Miami appeared to be reeling with the clock and field position starting to work against them. Jermaine Thomas, star running back was hurt in the first half for a week opening the door for Tavares Pressley who broke a key 18 yard run to put FSU in game winning FG territory. Luckily for the Seminoles they wouldn't need it as they kept chipping away and eventually punched the ball in the endzone for the only TD of the game. Albeit the game winner! FSU sat back as there was only about :30 secs left for Miami and wound up with an interception to seal the deal. FSU-16 Miami-9

*Florida St. defense really showed up this week allowing 120 yards of total offense while never letting the ball cross the goalline.

JCA great game man. That was a really tough struggle for both of us as I'm sure you would agree.

Week 10 finally arrived after what seemed an eternity for the Seminoles. While they traveled to play NCST the only thing they could think of was to get past the Wolfpack to set up a week 11 showdown with Clemson. This game went according to plan luckily as the Seminoles were harly even tested. 37-3 final score.

Senior leader Christian Ponder was 13/13 passing in this game. After a dismal start to the year the Seminoles are now just two wins away from playing in their second straight ACC title game although they must first face off against the Clemson Tigers @ home next week.

Florida St. decided they weren't going to play this game. We came out fresh out of bed realizing that "you are the last game left until we advance" we had to hurry up and get our game in. After one posession on defense you see you have the wrong playbook. Everything from a mental point went out the door at that time as we went on to lose our regular season finale 27-6. This caps off a year of disappointment and no doubt will serve as a wakeup call going into this bowl season and even more importantly next season.

Florida St. played the Idaho Vandals in the Meineke car care Bowl in 2010.

This game was a tryout of sorts for Chris Thompson as well as a farewell to the seniors of this team including qb Christian Ponder. The tryout went well as Thompson carried the ball 39 times for 233 yards. The redshirt freshman will no doubt see a lot more action next season. The final score in this one was FSU 38-17, but it was widely known that FSU was a few levels above Idaho to say the least. All eyes will now shift to next season as the Seminoles again look to have a great roster on paper. It will take a lot more than paper to get back to their national championship form of what will be 2 years past.

Congrats on the bowl win Trude. You got a loaded roster. I expect FSU back at full strength next season in the ACC.
