    Florida State Game Summary

Florida State lays the smack down to top 25 Maryland.

Florida state ran circles around Terrapins Defense, mixing it up with options, dives, and toss sweeps to control the clock the entire game.

Florida States D also lit up the Terrapins allowing only 7 points until the last three minutes of the game. 2 forced fumbles, 1 int., 3 sacks and numerous 3 and outs made for a rough day on the Maryland Sideline.

Today was a BIG day for the Seminoles!!!!

The #22 Florida State faced HUGE rival #9 Florida in the swamp, w/ a very hostile crowd this evening.

Florida State took the lead 3-0 in the opening drive, but Florida wasn't having it and struck right back in their first possession, marching down the field and taking the lead 7-3. After a few miscues on Florida State's next few drives, they came together and scored a walloping 24 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter to take the lead 27-7 going into the half.

From there, Florida made to many mistakes trying to move the ball against a ravaging Florida State Defense. Sack, Int's, and qb pressure was just to much. Florida State maintained ball control throughout the rest of game by mixing up a solid run game and completing key passes when needed. The Florida defense got overly aggressive and committed too many penalties to get the defense off the the field.

Overall, Florida State had a shaky season until now. The boys from the sunshine state have recently run off 5 strait wins giving them a final record of 8-4 and leads the ACC (Atlantic) w/ a 6-2 record. They remain 3rd overall in the ACC behind 11-0 Virginia tech (7-0 Conference) and 10-1 Georgia Tech (7-1 conference).

GREAT DAY TO BE A SEMINOLE!!

FLORIDA STATE WINS! FLORIDA STATE WINS! FSU pulls off the upset today against #2Virginia Tech to win the ACC Championship!

After about an hour of pregame delay (technical difficulties), The #13 ranked Seminoles clashed with the #2 ranked Hokies. The VT Hokies took the lead early 7-0 on a defensive TD, but the Seminoles didn't seem to mind one bit. They quickly came back to tie the score 7-7 before the end of the 1st quarter. Then in the second quarter it started to get ugly. While Darren Evans and Tyrod Taylor were completely contained,VT couldn't figure out what to do with the ball on offense. Between a bone crushing Florida State defense and a productive running game by the FSU offense, the seminoles managed to take a 21 point lead going into halftime.

In the third quarter, it didn't get any better for a flustered VTech offense. FSU continued to hold back the Hokies, while the offense did its thing on the ground and ate up the clock, one first down at a time. FSU rolled to victory with a 35-18 win!

Overall, it has turned into somewhat of a Cinderella store for the boys of Tallahassee. Starting the season with an ugly 3-4 record and quickly losing support from fans, the Seminoles came together and persevered through adversity to beat rival #9 Gators and The #2 Hokies to win the ACC championship. Only one game remains for the Seminoles, and that game will decide a storybook ending, or just another good year...

FSU also wants to officially congratulate Vtech on a great season. The Hokies were on a roll looking for a National Title. Unfortunately, they ran into and inspired Florida State Defense that wasn't willing to budge. Good luck to Vtech in its bowl game and the new season.

Florida State wins the Orange Bowl!!!

The #6 Seminoles finish the job and turn what could have been a lost season into a great turnaround story by beating the #8 Penn State Nittany Lions 28-24 in the Orange Bowl today.

At was a battle right from the beginning and the difference in the game was special teams and red zone capitalization. The Seminoles had two huge kick returns, both taking the ball inside the Penn State 10 yard line before being brought down. FSU managed to convert 4/4 touchdowns in the red zone giving them 28 points. Penn State couldn't follow suite and settled for an average 3/6 in the red zone. Which ended up being the difference in the game.

The players of the game are both E. Manuel scoring 3 TD's for the Seminoles and J. Thomas Rushing 26 times for 169 yards, 5 receptions for 59 yards, and 3 Kick Returns for a total of 123 yards (one being 80 yards and setting up a TD)

The Sun is Shining brought in the Sunshine State today, and next year the Seminoles could be looking at a National Championship RUN!!!!!!

THEY DID IT!!! The #3 ranked Florida State Seminoles strolled into Texas Memorial Stadium today and knocked off the returning National Champions and #1 ranked Texas Longhorns.

The Seminoles beat the Longhorns today in 45-16 mauling. The game got off to a rocky start for FSU, throwing a pick 6 in their 2nd possession of the day, giving Texas a 7-0 lead. It seemed as though Texas may have their way w/ FSU, but that wasn't the case. The next drive, FSU ran the ball down Texas' throat and tied the game at 7 a piece. From there, FSU threw another Interception, setting up a Texas Field goal. Bothered by offensive mistakes, the Seminoles offense was a determined to not let this turn into a defensive battle. They moved the ball quickly down the field and tied the game 10-10 going into half.

FSU received the ball at half and once again ran the ball through the cracks of the Texan defense, giving the Seminoles their first lead 17-10. From there, things began to get ugly for the Longhorns. The FSU defense was all over the place and acting like a brick wall. Eventually the Texas offense crumbled and started to turn the ball over, w/ on interception after another. The forth quarter consisted of 28 points by FSU and only 6 for Texas, give you a final of 45-16.

All in all, FSU stuck to their game plan, even when things looked as though it could be a rough day. The Seminoles defense came up huge, allowing only one Touchdown from Texas' offense. The FSU DEFENSE ONLY GAVE UP 3 FIRST DOWNS the entire game and forced 4 J. Chiles Interceptions.

    O. Jenije was by far the defensive player of the game racking up 3 interceptions and 3 tackles.

The offense layed on the back of QB E. Manuel. Although he threw 2 interceptions early, he blew it off and led the FSU offense like a true leader does. By the end of the game he ended w/ a QB rating of 168.7, 13/17 passing for 195 yards, 1 passing TD... his biggest contributions came on the ground w/ 72 yards rushing, 4 Rushing TD's, and many key first down conversions. J. Thomas also had 22 carries for 71 yards.

    FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES!!!!

28 carries for a QB. Key his QB on the option. You won't have run commit to stop it, and big hits didn't make him fumble. Good Luck.

Yikes! what a two game road trip to start off the season. The Seminoles come away unscathed from what must be one of the toughest opening two weeks in the nation. This week, the FSU powerhouse program went to LSU and destroyed the Tigers 37-14. Once again the Seminoles defense prevailed and stopped the Tigers from getting anything going. The Florida State offense did its share of the work, racking up 437 yards and 4 rushing TD's.

    J. Thomas rushed for 250 yards,4 TD's, and caught 2 passes for 23 yards....making him the FSU player of the week. In the 3rd quarter, he ripped off a 77 yard scamper to seal the victory.

So the Seminoles slip through the first part of their opening schedule w/ relative ease, and now have schedule lightens up a bit.

FSU EYES ARE SET ON THE PRIZE!!!!

#1 FSU is rolling, beating Boston College today by a score of 42-10. Florida State came out on fire and jumped out to a 35-3 lead going into halftime. The second half consisted of running the ball and trick play attempts. The Seminoles had their way w/ BC and there was nothing BC could do about it.

    E. Manuel had a QB rating of 158.7, 11/18 passing for 170 yards and 1 TD.

    J. Thomas lit up the BC defense ripping off one big run after another. 23 attempts for 234 yards and 2 TD's. Also, had 3 receptions for 47 yards.

Defensive end B. Jenkins chalked up a good game w/ 6 tackles and 3 sacks.
Strong Safety E. Imeoparia also had 6 tackles, 3 TFL, and an interception.

WOW, is about all you can say when Florida State squeaks out two games in a row. First, to an exemplary North Carolina team that is rated A+ in every category. Then this week, the Seminoles returned home to host Wake Forest, and barely escaped alive.

The Seminoles practiced hard all week to stop the option, but it didn't really work out to well.

On the opening drive in the first quarter, Wake Forest threw a pick 6 giving the Seminoles a 7-0 lead. The Demon Deacons didn't seem to mind much, because later in the 1st quarter, S. Jones broke off a 94 yard run to knot the score at 7-7.

In the 2nd quarter, the Seminoles did work, scoring on two of their drives, and picking up a later field goal just before halftime to give them a 10 point lead.

In the 3rd quarter, Florida State received the ball, looking to gain a commanding 17 point lead, but had to settle for a 49 yard FG to take a 27-14 lead. The Option for the Demon Deacons seemed nearly impossible to stop, and they stayed alive by scoring quickly in the third, making it 27-21.

In the 4th quarter, the Seminoles could see the light at the end of the tunnel when they hit their final 27 yard FG to make the score 30-21 w/ 6 mins left in the game. Wake Forest quickly moved the ball to about the 50 yard line in their next possession, but the offense sputtered when the Seminoles had two sacks in a row and made it 4th down and 23. The Seminoles could taste the victory, but the WF offense lobbed up a deep pass that managed to get caught at the 15 yard line and taken in for a touchdown, making the score 30-28 w/ 4:52 seconds left in the game. FSU was stunned, swearing and thinking that this game that could be over now turned into a nightmare. FSU got stuffed in their next drive, giving WF the ball with about 3 minutes remaining. They didn't even hesitate and went back to their bread and butter option series and moved the ball down the field to about the 45 yard line until FSU managed to get them to a 4th down situation. The Seminoles brought the pressure and hit the QB just after he let go of the ball the got to his Receiver for the first down...... FSU pretty much lost hope at this point, but was not ready to give in. With time ticking away, WF continued a few more option plays to get into better field position, milking the clock int he process. The FSU defense stood them up a couple times, leaving them at about the FSU 27 yard line. W/ no timeouts, FSU watched and prayed........... THE DEAMON DEACONS MISSED!!!!!! the ball came up short w/ 25 seconds left in the game and the Seminoles ran out the clock to win 30-28.

GREAT GAME to G-unit, I look forward to another battle next year!

    Stats:
    Florida State
    E. Manuel 152.2 QB rating, 8/10 for 86 yards, 14 attempts for 50 yards and 1 TD
    J. Thomas had 19 rushing attempts for 152 yards and 1 TD
    T. Parks had 9 tackles, 1 sack, 1 int. for a TD
    S. Powell went 3/3 for FG's

    Wake Forest
    S. Jones had a 129.0 QB rating, 5/11 for 94 yards w/ 1 TD and 1 INT, 19 attempts rushing for 219 yards and 1 TD
    W. Dixon had 15 attempts for 59 yards and one rushing TD
    M. Williams had 1 Miraculous reception on 4th and 23 for 42 yards and a TD.

In week 7, FSU strolled into the house of in state Rival Miami and layed and absolute beat down! No contest, the Seminoles rolled to a 49-6 victory. Although the prediction of knocking out Jacori Harris for the season did not come true.... I think the Seminoles defense may have shattered his confidence.

FSU is rockin' and rollin' beating down NC State. The Seminoles moved the ball through the air and on the ground with Thomas and young (soon to be star) Freshman Thompson. FSU is excited for the ACC championship game, but must focus on the upcoming gators to position themselves for a national title run.

Seminoles are keeping their eyes on the prize as they roll over the now 9-2 #6 Florida Gators.

The first quarter ended at 10-0 FSU, but the Gators came storming back in the 2nd to make the score 17-14 going into half.

After half time..... it got ugly. The Seminoles outscored the Gators 28-0 in the second half. The FSU offense got started clicking, while the defense wouldn't budge an inch.

WOW, is just the beginning when you hear about last nights game for the ACC Championship.

    1st quarter
FSU jumped out to a lead w/ a pick 6 in Miami's opening drive. Miami was forced to a 3 and out in their second drive, so the Seminoles moved the ball down the field to take a 10-0 lead.

    2nd quarter
FSU managed to get the ball back once again, to take a 13-0 lead. Miami finally got on the board w/ a TD pass from Harris to T. Streeter, making it 13-7. Miami's defense started rocking the Seminoles and it got ugly when All-American RB T. Thomas went down and will be out for 14 WEEKS! The FSU offense really struggled after he went down. Miami kicked a late field goal to make it 13-10 going into half

    3rd quarter
FSU got the ball and moved into scoring position to kick a field goal, making it 16-10. Miami did a nice job moving the ball to score a TD and take the lead 17-16.

    4th quarter
Both defenses did some work on opposing offenses for a couple drive, but the Seminoles managed to get the ball down to the Hurricane 34 yard line. 3rd and about 8 yards, Manuel gets sacked at the 40 yard line, which proved to be costly. FSU still attempted a FG, but it came up short be about 3-4 feet, which left FSU trailing w/ 2:30 seconds left on the clock. Not giving up, the FSU defense came out on the field and stuffed the Miami offense. FSU got the ball back on their own 25 yard line with 1 minute and 20 seconds left and 1 time out. Quickly picking apart the Miami zone coverage, the Seminoles picked up one 1st down after another and got the ball to the Miami 30 yard line. with 10 seconds left, FSU ran the ball up the middle and called a timeout. FSU kicked the game winning field goal with one second on the clock and stuffed Miami on the kickoff return to make the final score 19-17.

It was a bitter sweet day, Florida State beat instate rival Miami for the ACC Championship, but FSU's RB Thomas was the heart and soul of the team. It was very clear that FSU struggled without him on the field. Now the Seminoles are off the claim a National Title vs. Alabama. It will be interesting to see what the Seminoles can do without their proven leader.
