Florida State Summaries
Seminole postgame analysis...
Remember Rocky when Apollo Creed let that one local fighter from Philly have a shot at the best? Well FSU decided to give a shot to a 1aa team this year. No story book ending here. Florida St. came out firing on all cylinders and cruised to a 59-9 home victory. Most of the damage was done by the 1-2 punch at RB as the Seminoles ran for over 300 yards between the backs. Next week #15 BYU is on tap and the game should be a night and day difference from last week. Only time will tell.
#13 Florida St. @ BYU
This game was nationally televised and for a good reason too. The first half started with FSU returning the opening kickoff 99 yards for the score! The first quarter would end 7-0. On the first play of the second quarter the Seminoles scored again on a 2 yd td plunge to go up 14-0. The teams would trade FG's before finally going to the half 17-3 FSU.
BYU would definately play their best ball in the second half. Connecting on a 1yd & 13yd TD pass the Cougars tied the score up with 2:19 left in the game. FSU apparently woke up at this point though as they calmly drove the ball down the field and punched it in for the winning TD at the :03 mark. Final score FSU 24 BYU 17

USF @ FSU
Right from the start you knew this interstate battle was going to be a tough one. South Florida scored the first 10 points of the game until a user strip fumble that was recovered and brought back for a TD. A few scores later the Seminoles were down 13 pts. 23-10 @ home. The team scratched and clawed their way back into this one though as they at one point went on a 31- 6 run. Final score Florida St. 38 USF 29.
J Thomas runs for 120 yds. and 1 td.
Florida St. @ West Virginia
It would take more than the Mountaneers could muster up. Florida St. scored the games first 24 points. After a mini comeback attempt the Seminoles wound up wrapping the game up 27-21.
C. Ponder 23-31 355yds 2td 2int
T. Easterling 4 rec 58 yds 2 td
Georgia Tech @Florida St.
This game started off with FSU driving down against a stout Yellow Jacket defense. After getting down into Tech territory the drive stalled and FSU settled for a FG. The following drive by Tech was much of the same, but on a 4th & 1 the Seminoles held on a fb dive to take over the ball. Both teams didn't move the ball much until the Seminoles struck gold on a 44 yard TD run by J.Thomas. 10-0 at the half.
The second half had both teams playing classic bend but dont break defense. Fortunately for FSU they would convert on a 29yd TD pass beating the blitz by tech. Both teams traded TD's in the fourth quarter as FSU would hang on to win 24-7.

Coach TRude would like to thank G-Unit for a good game and we look forward to seeing you guys next year in your house!!!
#3 Florida St. @ #25 North Carolina
Florida St. came into this game undefeated with a couple of key matchups left in the season. A slow start by both teams ended when Florida St. put the first 7 points up with a minute left in the opening quarter. It wasn't long after that they scored on defense and were up 14-0. The first half ened up 14-7.
After a FG to close to 14-13 the Seminoles scored 21 straight points in the second half. Two of the three scores were by J. Thomas (58yd pass, 20yd run) as FSU went on to win by the final of 31-17. For the time being North Carolina will be bumped out of the top 25 again while FSU sets its sights on a possible National Title bid. "One game at a time" TRude was overheard saying to his players after the game.
Florida St. @ Clemson
This game would be the biggest challenge yet this season. Florida St. jumped out to an early 7-0 lead. After a punt the Seminoles jumped out to a 14-0 advantage. Clemson decided that was enough and opened up their scoring with a short FG and we were stuck at 14-3. Almost at the half and up 21-3 the Seminoles muffed a punt inside their own 20 which Clemson would turn into a TD 21-10 at half.
Clemson hit hard and fast coming out in this half. They made the score 21-17 early. I think the key to this game though was everytime they scratched their way back the Seminoles had an answer. There were a few key 3rd down conversions throughout this game that put it on ice. Although they would come as close as 28-25, the Tigers wouldn't get any closer then that. Final score FSU -28 Clemson - 25
Sorry I don't have stats, but I'm outta town now until Sunday night. good game soldier
Apparently jet lag can cause rustiness in college football. Florida St. played a horrible game against an upstart Wake Forest team in Demon Deacon country. With their starting running back out for at least this week and possibly one more Carlton Jones would have the bulk of the carries on his shoulders. 28 attempts later he had 101 yards and two td's. This battle in the snow would ironically come down to Florida St. converting on FG's. Dustin Hopkins hit on 3 of 3 attempts to put the victory on ice. Final score FSU-23 Wake-14
Florida St. @ Florida
This game was a rivarly game, literally. The Seminoles traveled with national title hopes on the line. From the outset both teams were determined to impose their will. The Gators 3 & outed the Seminoles. The Seminoles fired right back back punting the ball down to the UF 1 yard line. This payed dividends after a second down tackle in the endzone for a safety! 2-0 FSU. In the second quarter the Seminoles put together a mini drive after their punter pinned the Gators deep with another punt and the defense held again. 50 yards later they scored their first and only TD to go up 9-0. A FG with :30 secs left in the half put them up 12-0 at the half.
2nd half ----------------------------------------
Their would be more hitting this half and as a result less scoring. Florida started off with a FG to close the gap to 12-3. With 4:50 left in the 4th quarter Florida would again score with a FG to make it 12-6. The crowd was going absolutey bananas at this point. The pressure was totally on the Seminoles to make something happen. What happened was FSU grinding out a victory! 3rd down after 3rd down got converted until they finally had a fourth down deep into Gator territory. The :12 second mark finished off the scoring and the Gators as D.Hopkins hit his 3rd FG of the day. Final score 15-6 in and ugly one. Total offense for FSU was 182 yds. UF compiled a total of 137 yards. Jermaine Thomas who sat out the last 3 games due to injury actually came in as questionable and played his heart out against a really tough UF run d. He finished with 21 car for 42 yards and the game's only TD.
* On a side note the Seminoles have finished the regular season undefeated and now have GT waiting in the wings with revenge set on their mind. TRude has already said they will open up the offense in an attempt to go to the national title game. What will this entail??? Only time will tell.
