I just watched that. The inside move (after you'd just passed me at the end of the middle straight) is probably the best pass I ever made in Forza 2. No downforce car, didn't touch you, etc.
Yeah it was important that even though he nosed ahead of me (heck that was probably one of HIS best passes in Forza 2.. I hope?) I still had the outside, which is important for taking the subsequent corner quickly. There was no way for him to take that corner well so when I saw him heading in a little too hot I knew I could swing back inside. But it wasn't a thought process just spontaneous.
God damn that was a battle for the ages. At one point on one of the straights, it looked like casino had his front bumper on your back bumper, kind of like he was pushing you across the track lol.
The deal was, as i remember it, you had fallen back off the lead a bit and i was gaining from 3rd place on you and i passed you with a little bit of rub... but both came out of it fine and continued to battle for position, but i could tell you weren't happy about being behind me for whatever reason and you fishtailed me in a corner out of what i felt was frustration. Maybe i get the wrong impression, but i think sometimes you would rather crash out trying to gain better position than to lose to a "2nd tier" level driver. I think your extremely talented but very competetive behind the wheel... And yea, i have to work on my patience and temper with forza.. i get WORKED up sometimes, more than any other type of game.. racers make my blood boil when things go wrong.
Yeah best duel I've been a part of. My car was a lot faster than his (you can see evidence after we pass through the kink... and this was with front end damage) but I missed a shift on that straight away, bounced it against the rev limiter, and yeah we were no more than a foot or two apart all the way down that straight. hahah.
dunno about that. he got good quickly. gotta keep in mind when he was first playing with us he literally just got his 360. So he wasn't just playing a new game - it was the first time he was playing on a 360.
i didnt remember if he was new to 360. i just new he was as new to forza as yu other guys that would fight it out in the 2nd and third packs while we were in the front. im glad he got that good though. steelah and LJ werent racing as much as us after a few months so I had some company out front when they werent playing.
you mean you had company out in front when they weren't playing, and you hadn't crashed at some point in lap one
i've sent Ryno like three PMs to add the to no avail. So my strategy now is to just start using it in the hopes it will miraculously appear
Somewhere somebody asked for the list of reward cars so they wouldn't buy anything twice. Which I just did the other day and it sucked. Good idea to find that list. I found it on Gamefaqs. And here's some good resources to help with tuning....... http://diy-racetuning.net/index.html - This one is new, but well thought out. http://www.mediafire.com/?emyemsyzmci - a good step by step guide. Needs Excel to read it tho. This is what I use. I printed it out and keep it handy when testing setups. Those two alone should be enough to get anyone up to speed on tuning your cars. It's a process that takes time to understand, but well worth it when it's learned. Forget those "Tuning Calculators".
There's a lot of different ways to do it which is what is great. One of my problems is, I can drive cars/setups that other people hate. I used to think I was a good tuner simply because I could tune a car and get a great time with it, but now I don't think anything's good unless other people like it too. But back to my point. I start by using multiple calculators. I take the default settings of the car, the tuning calculator I posted in another thread, and my own calculator and try each setup and write down what I think about all of them, what would need to improve in each one, and what characteristics seem to be present in all three. That's when the process really starts, after that. But they're not useless....
My problem with the tuning calculators is they are one person's idea of how to setup a car. You *are* a good tuner if you can setup a car and it works for you. Other people might approach driving a car/course differently. That's where the calcs fail IMO. There's no such thing as one formula that can setup a car and make it handle well. Even if it provides a good baseline, if you don't know what to change if the car is unbalanced in a fast corner, etc then it's no good anyways. So while I wouldn't call them useless, they certainly aren't the magic bullet a lot of people out there would like to think they are.
It's a good way to look at it but I mean in the scheme of things. I'm really into Forza. I am not sure how big you were into Forza 2 but I was really into it, joined a tuning garage, I probably sold a couple thousand cars on the auction house, 90% of which were my tunes. I got good feedback on them but it took me a helluva lot longer than most good tuners to come up with one. And in my humble opinion, a great tuner is somebody that can put out tunes that turn great and are easy to handle and 90% of the people that try the car love it.
