Anyone notice that Nike has given these unis to schools to wear on dates where they are playing their competitors??

    LSU vs Auburn (Under Armour)
    Stanford vs Notre Dame (Adidas)
    MSU vs Michigan (Adidas)
    Ohio State vs Wisconsin (Adidas)

I like the Ohio State one's.

Other than that...if I see Sparty or LSU putting their gloves up to show them off when they score, I better see some flags! They flagged the SHIT out of Ohio State when they did that to show of the Block 0 on the Nike Pro Combats they wore last year.

I read that they were going to penalize Oregon for that but only if it was over used or directed at an opposing player. The rule is like a quick flash, not more that a couple of seconds.

Personally think flaggin that is bullshit. You'd have to ban every fan symbol as well so you don't offend the away team. No more hook em horns etc etc

It was irritating they flagged the Buckeye as much as they did...I just want consistency.:)

I don't understand why everyone lets Nike get away with this crap. I know I'm a fogey and a traditionalist, but these wretched looking uniforms are REALLY getting out of hand and now we've got Adidas and Under Armor assaulting our eye balls too so that they can cash in.

You didn't watch the game? It was one of the best endings I've ever seen before.

To answer your question, yes, both Michigan and ND wore alternate uniforms for the game (which is why I mentioned how Adidas is getting into the act now). Granted, they weren't as hideous as Maryland's or most of Nike's, but I much prefer their traditional ones.

My favorite uniforms, in no particular order:
    Michigan
    Ohio State
    Penn State
    Alabama
    Texas
    USC
Notre Dame (except for their hideous green jerseys).

I'm sure any college football fan can spot the pattern with these teams.

I think they all look stupid. Stanford's isn't all that bad I guess. But there have been far more really putrid uni's this year than good ones imo. The only one's I saw that I thought were good were Boise St. (storm trooper) as the guys on tv referred to it as, and Mich - ND weren't all that bad. The rest that come to mind were awful imho.

I didn't care for ND's helmet or the color of their pants, but I have to admit I liked their jerseys with the green numbers.

they make the uniforms for the current players and for recruiting purposes, 17 and 18 year old kids don't give a fuck about a traditional uniform they just want to wear something cool and look good on tv and lots of schools are starting to recognize and follow suit for recruiting purposes and to fire the current team up. Its the Oregon Formula. I heard alot of coaches this year explain why they broke out the crazy uniforms. SO as a traditionalist yes your a dying breed.

Anyone scared that NFL is gonna get Uni crazy once Nike gets their hands on them next year? Most are already predicting it to happen...

Those weren't alternates, they were throwbacks.

I know they were throwbacks, but they were not their normal uniforms. That sounds like the definition of alternate uniform to me.

The difference to me is that these pro combat unis are new ones that are being designed. The throwbacks are uniforms that the teams actually used to wear so you can't really blame the company for the design, they are just copying what the team used to wear.

I see where you are coming from though.

By that definition, these weren't technically throwbacks then. They had elements from previous uniforms that were thrown together.

My bad, I thought they were complete unis that were worn in the past.

It was to try to even the playing field since they were using players that should have been ineligible.
