Luck celebrates after Barclay scores on a screen pass

In their 2nd meeting in about 3 weeks, the Raiders and Colts would meet again in the AFC Divisional round. The outcome would remain the same as it did in that late season matchup with the Colts coming out victorious thanks to a balanced offensive attack and a defense that would keep the Raiders offense at bay most of the day.

The game would begin with the Raiders winning the toss and electing to receive. It would take only a few plays for the Colts defense to assert themselves as OLB Steele Grable would pick off a Terrell Pryor pass deep in Raiders territory. It would only take a few plays for the Colts to capitalize as Denarius Moore would haul in a 20 yard pass for the early 7-0 lead. The Raiders would respond back with a nice drive of their own and would be faced with a 4th and 1 from the 1 yard line. RB Aiken would punch it in from 1 yard out to tie the game late in the 1st quarter. Again, the Colts would make quick work on offense as they would execute the perfect screen pass to RB Freddie Barclay who would run 55 yards untouched to take the lead back 14-7 before the quarter expired.

The second quarter was quiet for most of the quarter until late. The Raiders would once again punch it in from 1 yard out on a run by Aiken to tie the game at 14 with just over a minute left. Armed with 3 timeouts and receiving the ball at half the Colts came out passing. Initially it would backfire as Luck would be sacked forcing a 2nd and 20. Seeing the defenders backed off looking for a deep pass, Luck would audible to a WR screen which would pay off as DHB would be all alone and would rumble 69 yards all the way down to the 2 yard line before being tackled from behind. With 5 seconds left in the half, the Colts elected to try to score 1 more time and it paid off as Luck would connect with Moore once again to take a 21-14 lead.

The second half was a defensive battle for much of the half. The Raiders would put the only 3rd quarter points on the board with a Garrett Hartley field goal. The score would remain 21-17 until Freddie Barclay would score from 5 yards out to take a 28-17 lead with 5 minutes left in the game. Following a turnover on downs by the Raiders, the Colts were looking to run as much clock as they can when Barclay found a hole on the right side and ran for about 50 yards before being tackled at the 2 yard line with about 2:30 to go. Backup HB Kristen Faine would punch it in from 1 yard out to stretch the lead to 35-17 with just over 2 minutes to go and essentially sealed the game.
